Detailed Reviews
The Tiers room was great with a really handy and private balcony where (after an early check in) we were able to eat some lunch and drink some champagne in the sunshine . There was a lovely gift hamper which included quality pate, cheese, crackers and wine. The chef provided a room service dinner based on the takeaway menu which was very reasonable in price and of good quality. The tea, coffee and minibar were also complimentary. Our interactions with the staff, on the phone and in person were really positive, warm and friendly. The breakfast supplied in the immaculate self serve breakfast room was really good and included in the tariff. The bathroom facilities and Aesop toiletries were of outstanding quality.

We stayed for 3 nights at Crafers in the Sawyer Room, and cannot say enough positive things about this 7 bedroom property.
Despite being close to a main road, and the rooms are over the Crafers Bar and Restaurant, there was no sounds to be heard. The room was warm, especially with a flickering gas fireplace, excellent bed, Aesop amenities in the bathroom, ( set the luxurious tone) , generous breakfast tray was set out to use each day.
The staff in the restaurant and the housekeeping staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. We got the vibe that they all enjoyed working there and were quick to support each other.
Location is great for Mount Lofty Botanical gardens ( 5 mins away by car) and to spend your days exploring the Adelaide Hills wineries. Hahndorf village is about 10-15 mins away by car for some German Australian culture and fare.
We will be back and will recommend Crafters to anyone that is planning a weekend outside Adelaide.

What a great little boutique hotel! Arrived and had a glass of wine in front of the fire in the bar downstairs. We booked a superior queen room (but you can go up a level that includes a gas fireplace, balcony and bath) that was well designed and used quality products in terms of linen and bathroom. Mini bar was included in the cost of the stay which gave a sense of generosity to the stay. The continental breakfast was terrific; a help-yourself buffet in the kitchen with delicious warm and buttery croissants. As the accomodation is part of the posh pub downstairs, you don't have to go far to catch yourself some dinner.

We booked at short notice for an early birthday celebration, staying in the Heritage Room. Friends had recommended the hotel as being a perfect choice for a romantic getaway, and we weren't disappointed. The rooms are understated luxury, beds so comfy and the little extras and breakfast tray were a lovely touch. Toiletries provided were high quality and its little things like this that make a big difference. Would love to see a coffee machine in each room, but the common kitchen area was a lovely space and also a delight to find. Unfortunately we didnt realize the minibar was complimentary or we may have indulged (only realized on reading other reviews ) The bath in the huge bathroom with heated flooring was a delightful treat. On a very chilly Adelaide Hills evening, we appreciated arriving to the room being heated by the gas fire. I have no hesitation to recommend the Crafers Hotel when you want to spoil yourself - next time I hope we can stay longer!

From the first moment we entered the Front Door we felt special!
We were introduced to Hayley, an extremely pleasant young lady who showed us to our room, the room was stunning, exceeding our expectations in every way!
Then to be advised the Mini Bar is complimentary, and to be shown the Breakfast Room that had all amenities and products freely available.
After settling in we went downstairs to the Bar for a drink and met Luke the Sommelier who asked us if we would like a tour of their wine room/cellar and the extra special Fine Wine Room.
Luke continued our experience encountered with all the team members, passionate about their roles, extremely engaged and made us feel special.
I speak on Customer Service at Conferences around the World and wrote a best selling book on Team Engagement & Customer Service so I really know what great service looks like!
Our dinner from their extensive menu was of the same quality.
All in all a special two nights and we WILL be back.
After staying in many Hotels and accommodation houses over the past 20 years this is my first unreserved review!
Go visit Crafers Hotel you WILL love it!!

What a fabulous finale to our SA road trip.
Crafers Hotel in the Adelaide Hills was our chosen destination for a 2 night stay to conclude an enjoyable 10 days.
From the moment we walked in the door we sensed this was an excellent decision. The building exudes welcoming warmth and a relaxed ambiance. Our room had every appointment you could wish for with no expense spared especially the luxurious bath and Aesop products. Our restaurant food and beverage experience was consistent with the standard you would expect. However physical surroundings and personal experience are only made memorable by the people we interact with. The staff are exceptional. Warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We felt very welcome.
Well done Crafers Hotel!

About a year ago, I chose The Crafers Hotel as place to stay away from domestic and work distractions in order to focus on my writing. It proved an excellent choice, and so I returned this winter for another such retreat. As a result of my second experience, I am certain I'll be a regular guest at least annually.
Apart from the peacefulness, cleanliness and comfort of my "usual" room which has everything I need, there is the top quality bar and restaurant downstairs, plus handy kitchen facilities a matter of seconds away.
And the staff (administrative, waiting, cleaning) must be highly commended for the cheerful, positive, helpful, unobtrusive manner in which they serve their guests. Special mention to Hayley and Sasha for the way they interact via email and in person.

We had one night in the Sawyer Room as a birthday treat for my wife. The room was perfect and appointed with quality fittings and a huge comfy bed. Nice little touches such as chocolates, complimentary mini bar and thick towelling bath robes were appreciated. We didn't realise till we got to the room that it had a lovey gas fire which made the room very snug on an otherwise cold day / night. We also didn't realise that complimentary continental breakfast items were provided and the use of a small well appointed kitchenette to prepare breakfast was on site. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner in the on site dining room that night.

We stayed at Crafers Hotel in the Heritage Room based on a recommendation from a friend, and it was an excellent choice as a base for the Adelaide Hills.Â
The check in was easy, every staff member we spoke with was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the dinner at the hotel restaurant was an excellent end to the day.Â
Despite its proximity to the motorway, there was no road noise to our room at all. Similarly, no noise from the downstairs bar and restaurant during our stay.
We really enjoyed the gas fire and the included continental breakfast provisions - Crafers were kind enough to provide us with some gluten free options which was such a lovely surprise.Â
The communal kitchen & laundry facilities were clean and well provisioned.Â
We didn't use the outdoor balcony space due to the weather but it was a lovely outlook & we would certainly recommend the hotel for a romantic getaway in the Hills.

My wife and I stumbled across this hotel some years back not long after the reopened after an extensive renovation and we were blown away but the level of customer service during our one night stay.
Fast forward to December 2023 and I was back in the region for work and jumped at the opportunity to book myself another stay.
I arrived about midnight and found my way to my room easily with the instructions provided, via the ample guest carpark at the rear and lockbox where I retrieved the keys.
My room was generous in size with a small work desk, mini bar (with complimentary Tim Tams and 2 x cans of beer, replenished daily), iron and ironing board and closet space. A well appointed ensuite bathroom too. The only negative was the small number of clothes hangers. They'd be suffice for a leisure trip I imagine but as I was there a number of nights for work, I could have done with more for my business shirts. Maybe if the hotel notice a lengthier stay, they may consider having housekeeping place a few more in the room prior to the guests arrival.
There is a small kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine and dryer available to guests and this is also where the help yourself continental breakfast is available each morning.
The bar, restaurant and outdoor beer garden are excellent with a great choice of food and beverage. There is also a bottle shop attached to the building.
The stand out for me though, as with our previous stay, is the service. I cannot think of an establishment where every single member of staff, from the cleaners, bottle shop attendants, bar staff, admin staff - all of them - have the most incredible, genuine customer service. I do not know if it's the hotel training, or their careful recruitment process, but it's just delightfully refreshing. As a business owner with well over a hundred of staff, I can tell you, it does not go unnoticed.
So a huge thank you to the whole amazing team at Crafers, aesthetics are one thing, but the prettiest of hotels wouldn't mean a thing without the service, and you guys have it all, in spades. Well done to you all, you should be very, very proud.
