Generally spoken I have to say that the island is not cheap in general (accomodation, food, car rental, sightseeing). Hotel Orongo: Owner's sister and her teenage daughter welcomed us in a friendly manner (were a bit too chatty for my taste) . Have been picked up from the airport which is a 5 mins ride from the hotel. Room was equipped with shower,double... More

Good hotel : very central location (near shops and restaurants), nice garden, the rooms (especially at the back) are comfortable and somewhat larger than elsewhere. There are tables and chairs outside. The breakfast is good. The "boss" (a friendly local "intellectual") is very helpful for anything that is needed. He has a lovely niece who speaks English and does individual... More

The Orongo hotel is family-run and its owners are very hospitable and charming. You are met and picked up and delivered back to the airport on your departure even if your plane arrives/takes off very late, which is a nice touch. Breakfast is included and was good, comprised of ham, cheese, homemade jam and fresh rolls accompanied by varying fresh... More

We booked this hotel on the basis of the reviews on Trip Advisor but our experience must have been quite different as the owner was away in Chile during the time we were there. Apparently when he is away things aren't run quite the same way, so there was no pick-up at the airport (despite the email I received 2... More

The Hotel Orongo is ideal for the budget traveller or anyone who wants to be treated like family. The owner charms you with genuine hospitality that typifies Rapa Nui. They are situated perfectly for the airport and the town of Hangua Roa. The rooms are clean and presentable, the gardens surrounding the hotel are quite exceptional.

The people running the hotel are friendly and nice. As others have said, rooms are clean if dated. No AC but you can get by with the fan in the room and nights are cool. No WiFi but there is an internet cafe just a few doors down...if the electricity is working...there were several outages citywide while we were there,... More

The town of Hanga Roa is very small and so there are not a huge amount of budget options available to stay. My husband and I booked Hotel Orongo after checking trip advisor reviews which were pretty accurate and for the price. The rooms are very basic but not bad for a budget traveller and is the more reasonably priced... More

I'm not sure I can describe how odd our stay was there...we were one of two couples there...very strange owners...it says it comes with breakfast but they said that was only continental...and that things were different because it was low season...no WIFI, no TV....which would be OK but not a lot going on at night on Easter Island...Bizarre is all... Great find on Easter Island. Rooms are clean, location is right close to everything you need and the garden area is beautiful. Raul, the owner, is excellent and he makes sure you have everything you need during your stay. Don't turn down his dinner offer either, as it was one of the best tasting - and best priced - places... We left another hotel after the first night because of a bad experience and stumbled upon Orongo on the main road at about 7pm. The 'caretaker' (for lack of a better word), Raul, welcomed us. He said he did not have a ready room but we could return tomorrow. After viewing a room, we loved it! We asked again if... More
