We were really surprised with the high standard of the room, large, comfortable with a stunning view of mountains. I could only compare it to a five star hotel in a major city but with the personal touches you will only find in a small village

We often stay in a B&B near Borris and always call in to The Step House for a meal on arrival in the area. This time we felt it just wasn't as good as on previous visits. Service was excellent, as always, but the food seems to have taken a downturn. We felt the menu choices were more limited than...

We had our wedding in the Step House in October. It was truly an amazing experience. From our first contact with the wedding coordinator Angela, we knew that every detail would be taken care of with no fuss. Planning was easy and it was clear we could have as much or little input into every detail as we wanted. On...

Ate in the restaurant since change of ownership. The atmosphere and quality of food have both changed and not in a positive way. The upmarket feel of the hotel is gone, which is such an awful pity given how wonderful it was previously.

Myself and my husband Stefan booked our wedding for October 2016, from word of mouth reviews of previous weddings. In the year leading up to our wedding, we were in constant contact with Angela to arrange all the details from abroad, Angela was amazing and having her complete so much of the planning took away alot of stress. The venue...

We were looking for accomodation near Killarney on a Saturday night and this little place came up. Was away from the general traffic and so made it a great spot. The hotel is very nice and our room was very comfortable, we ate in the bar, which was also very nice and breakfast was included in the price. The main...

Very friendly staff, lovely boutique hotel with very nice bedrooms, in a lovely village, but food disappointing, dining room closed for dinner and breakfast, we eat both meals in the bar. We had stayed here before so we were looking forward to a lovely short break with really good food, the hotel lived up to our expectation for accommodation and...

Stopped in The Step House this evening passing through Borris. Went into the bar for a quick bite to eat. The menu has changed greatly since the last time I was here but the quality has not diminished. The menu is not as fancy as it used to be but the quality is excellent. We had the salmon and the...

Visited today for lunch. Had reserved a table in the restaurant but the staff insisted we had not and we reluctantly took a table at the bar. The menu lacked the choice it normally has. No duck or venison etc. The crackers with the liver parfait were soft and almost stale. Hake mAin was quite nice and the creme brûlée...
