We spent 3 very relaxing days at San Simian. The Mango room is very nice, with comfortable beds, a private sitting area, and the most marvelous outdoor bathroom. Daniel, Benny, and their crew went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Highly recommended!

Came here with friends for the da from Granada. Beautiful spot on the lake, very pleasant staff, good food, and cold beverages. Very happy to have come here and checked it out. Would like to stay here for a couple nights and get a true Laguna Apoyo experience.

Returned a couple weeks ago from a visit to San Simian. I have visited at various times during the year, but never in January. Arrived on New Year's Day from Miami around noon after Bayardo had arranged my pick-up at the airport by David. Being the holiday weekend, things were pretty busy along the Laguna to San Simian, at the...

We stayed two nights over new year. They were full and we were last to book so we had to change rooms: so I can say I think the cabanas closer to the water are a little better e.g. Sandia, with hammocks, outdoor private bathroom, closer access, than e.g. Coco. As a family of four we were pretty squished as...

We had a couple of days here. Thought it was a nice place. Food was good and reasonably priced. Did a bit of birding, didn't kayak as had no water shoes and beach a bit stoney. They were available tho. The owner Danniel was quite helpful. Really liked the outdoor bathroom.

Our host Daniel and his staff made this a really great stay. The lake water is about 75F degrees which is lovely for swimming and other on the water activities like kayaking. There is not a town very close by but the hotel provides what you need - great food, drinks, transport, kayaks etc. Come here to relax and enjoy...

This place is magic. We stayed in the Papaya Hut for 5 nights and we were so good taken care of, the staff and the owner are incredible friendly and service minded. There are hammocks everywhere where you can relax, the water in the lagoon is clear fresh and safe (best swim in Nicaragua) and the environment is beautiful, green...

San Simian is a lovely retreat. If you enjoy peace and quiet with simple accommodations and great food this place is for you. The Laguna is just beautiful and the water is very warm perfect for floating around in the inner tubes that the lodge provides. At night it is just wonderful to hear wind and the rustling of the...

The Laguna apoyo is amazingly beautiful with the lush forest that surrounds it and the blue warm water to admire and enjoy. If you have a car or not, the Laguna is a good spot to travel to masaya, Granada and the white villages (where they make pottery) around. We especially liked Catarina where the view over the Laguna and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
San Simian is a charming Eco Lodge in the Laguna de Apoyo Dry Forest Preserve. Nestled along the water's edge, this secluded resort has private unique lodging tucked into the slope of the crater and steps from the swimming dock, hammocks and bar where guests pass the time. Guests can stay in a unique palm-roofed cottage with open air shower, private garden or terrace, eat at our full service restaurant and relax at our outdoor bar. As San Simian is equipped with a Catamaran, several Kayaks, and other water toys, activity revolves at the lake front and in the clear warm water itself, however, bird and monkey watching in the surrounding forest are also popular, and we are also located at the entrance to a great hike path that leads up the hill to the Pueblas Blancas artisan villages and the stunning Mirador at Catarina. Please Call Ahead if you would like us to arrange a massage, pedicure, Spanish lesson, guided hike, Granada or Masaya tour. ... more   less
