A lot of revamped country pubs have alienated locals by pushing up prices and catering to affluent outsiders, but the Village Pub in this gorgeous old village seem to have struck the right balance. As an outsider (though not so affluent!) I visited for lunch last Saturday. It was a nice day to sit in the attractive beer garden (with...

Stayed here for our anniversary. The pub itself has plenty of character and charm, all old beamed and set in a lovely little village with not a great deal to do apart from relax and enjoy the countryside. Our room was really cosy and spacious, nice sized, comfortable bed with large TV on the wall, plenty of posh teas and...

A lovely friendly pub with great atmosphere and good food. I had the cheese soufflé followed by the burger and sadly had no room left for pud as sticky toffee pudding is one of my favourites. We booked 3 weeks in advance and got the last table albeit a busy day, booking recommended.

My first visit here and I've heard it's extremely good. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so went with high expectations! There's a good carpark at the rear. The rear step entrance and internal flooring is quaint Cotswold flagstone with a mini (heated) patio. The interior is a classy Cotswold gastro pub design in beige and browns (a bit dark...

Thank you very much for taking the time to feedback on your lunch. We are glad that you found the overall experience to your liking. We are about to give the bar area a splash of colour....we are also a bit tired of the brown. Noted your comments about steak and wine. Thanks again and hopefully see you back soon

We enjoyed a super meal here on Sunday evening. Polished, warm, cosy a beautiful evening was had by all. We started by some appetisers, in the bar area which were delicious indeed. It was very nice to meet the chef Barry. He was most helpful explaining many things on the menu. Fabulous to have several fish choices. At the table...

Booked a couple of weeks ahead for Sunday lunch as there were 7 of us in the party. Having arrived, we were told there's no running water in the village, but the chef has managed to cook the normal menu. We stayed ( anyway, where else could we go on a Sunday at 1pm?). The service was excellent and we...

The Village Pub is a delightful place. We thought the food was delicious and not overpriced. The rooms were tastefully decorated with a nice large bathroom. Lovely touch to add hot water bottles . The only fault were the pillows ...really uncomfortable and need to be changed. The dogs were allowed in the rooms which was brilliant as it was...

visited as it's equidistant on a weeknight for me and a couple of friends - never been before but the pin in a map coupled with a look at the website works more often than not! very relaxed ambience, not over busy for a Wednesday but they'd put all the diners that were there near each other. I suppose this...

One of my favourite places, but must comment on a shocking starter on Saturday. The main courses for us all were delicious with outstanding lamb. However, The crispy duck salad was not up to the usual standard. Only leaving this as constructive criticism and hope for crispy not soggy when I next order.

My husband and I visited over NYE for a couple of nights and had a truly lovely stay at The Village Pub. The room was beautifully decorated, super clean and very large (especially the bathroom). Our meal on NYE was very tasty and it was nice not to have an enforced set menu. The bar itself was again well appointed...
