Honestly don’t listen to any of these bad reviews. Place was spotless especially for such a large house. View was great from the spa and the breakfast platter from what I have read in the other reviews is extremely underrated. 100% worth every cent. The house had a lot of things that aren’t normally in hotels. Kettle/coffee/sugar/milk etc. So many little things that show that the owners actually care and have thought about their guests. Myself and my partner were shocked to see any bad reviews. Rooms smelt the tiniest bit musty (Not enough to bother us at all) what do you expect when you book to stay in an old cabin in a rainforest...

10/10 guys!

My wife and I were looking for a couple days away to unwind a bit so we could face up to the last stretch of work before Christmas. We booked a 2 night stay at Treetops Montville, in the Running Waters Cabin. I have never written an online review before, it's just not my thing, my wife usually does it. But our stay was the battery charge we were hoping for, and then some. The cabin was clean and tidy, the running water falls from the tiny creek that ran below the cabin helped us sleep like logs, and the bottle of bubbly in the fridge with the little bowl of chocolates were a welcomed treat after our 2 hour drive to get there. Bacon, eggs and bread for toast for breakfast was provided in the cabin which was great. Even though there are numerous cabins to choose from, we could only see one from our cabin and never saw another person other than Gina, who was very nice, the whole time we were there. It was like being in the middle of a tropical jungle, no hustle, no noise, no stress, just peace and rest. We decided we were going back as we drove out of the driveway on our trip home and next time we are going to take our 3 daughters and their husbands to share this amazing experience with them. And we can all have a separate cabin and everyone can enjoy what we experienced during our stay. Thank you Gina, thank you Treetops Montville,

The perfect 2-night getaway, or stay for longer! Felt like a star sitting in the spa overlooking the valley. Partner was a bit scared of the toilet - it was on a bit of a "wobbly" corner of the cabin (sits on steel bars on a cliff face - not scary), which has been such a laugh to look back on. There's a great breakfast supplied, pizza vouchers to use, more than enough lush bedding... honestly, this cabin is the perfect way to destress and spend quality time with your loved ones. Get there!!!

The website is very misleading. Pictures that only show half of what your staying in. The receptionist was very flighty and all over the place.
Your "private" bungalow is actually a shed with air-conditioning while the next cabin is within shouting distance.
The pool that was suppose to be there wasn't even in the same area as we were. It was 10kms back up the road where reception was. We asked to get a different cabin.
The next one was a slightly better one but to get to it was one lane with a small added bit of lane for a park. No where to turn around. Had to reverse about 150meters up a narrow lane.
Room was very depressing. Not romantic at all. There was statues of pigs and a picture that was a real dead moth glued on it. I dont really find dead bugs on the wall romantic. The breakfast was re-wrapped bits of bacon im clingwrap that God knows who had touched. Eggs in a lunch box - no use by date and frozen soggy bread.
For a 1 year anniversary get away it was the most depressing place I've ever stayed. We even left early because there was nothing to even do in the room. 4 channels no DVDs for the DVD player, no reception to watch anything on phone so you couldn't even snuggle watching a nice movie.
I would never recommend it to anyone especially if you want romance. This is the furthest from romance you can get.
Horrible horrible experience.

We were a group of 4 women aged mid 30s to 50s and had an absolutely amazing weekend in potters cottage. The view was spectacular. The management were friendly in our dealings and supplied enough breakfast for two days with four hungry ladies. We added some extras. Bring your cheese, music and wine and enjoy the view. The beds were comfy and warm. Plenty of firewood provided. Potters cottage is great for families, friends or double couples. 2 min walk to the pub, great thai restaurant and mason wines to pick up supplies. (There are no bottle shops in montville). My only issue was the place needed a new lounge suite. The place is old but has character and you have complete privacy. We all enjoyed it.

The accommodation was lovely. Clean and spacious. Everything we needed was there. It was relaxing as soon as we stepped through the door. I can highly recommend A visit. We stayed in Dreamtime and loved every bit of it. The only thing we didn’t get was internet but that didn’t really worry us.

Would I stay again? Probably not, and it's such a shame as the setting is perfect, the cabins from the outside are just as you would expect and the hosts have all the right ideas when it comes to supplying chocolates, a fridge stocked with breakfast food and a bottle of wine and bath robes , real 5 star stuff, in a 3 star cabin, from the 20 year old blinds to the 99 cent price sticker still on the dish rack, the tv didn't work the bathroom is very dated with a mirror on a stand that kept falling down, the best thing was the bed it was very comfortable, If the owner were to spend $10k on this cabin updating a few things it would be worth every cent but as it stands at the moment the price is a bit over the top. This is only my opinion and the guest comment book is full of happy customers so give it a try it's certainly a very relaxing place to spend a couple of days.

My husband I have just arrived home from spending 2 night's in Starlight. The view is spetacular
But I,m afraid that is all it has going for it.
On arriving at the reception Gina showed the way,I was dissapointed with the greeting from John he just looked at us while Gina talked no greeting,no smile.
Gina then stated that ART is now there thing that there focusing on.Not a good start.
The cabin was clean and very nice but not at all oozing any ambuiance in romance.
We were told 2 go and get our own wood to start the fire I DIN"T come here to go find wood I'm not camping tho it would have been much cheaper and prob just as good.
$550 for 2 nights I expect everything there. Its not everyday u can afford to do this. ALOT of hard earnt money.
We have stayed in Maleny for the last 8 yrs and this was very poor and way to expensive
I even had to take my own candles and bubbles as they don't have them.
It may sound petty but when I go away with my husband to have a lovely weekend in a hideaway I expect perfection for the price I,m paying.
The place needs bracing, u tip toe thru the cabin the whole place shakes.
Privacy unfortunatly didn't happen, anyone can drive or walk past we had to keep the side blinds closed as we could be seen from the road,NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS.
So lets recap
No wood,No kindling,No fire starters,Light bulbs blown ,Dressing gown rope missing, didn't like reading everywere that we will charge u 4 this and that, make sure u clean and leave on time.or we''ll charge not very romantic
Can be seen from the road.
So its all about money making. Not about the couple having a lovely getaway.
Sorry 4 been so negative guys but we must have been spoilt ,from other holidays, but I think there is alot that could be done 2 make it a wonderful stay.
The best thing without a doubt tho was who I was with.Love u darling xx

Response from treetopsmontville, Owner at Treetops Montville
Responded 16 Nov 2012
Debbie S, Just read your comments. I am genuinely sorry you did not enjoy your weekend away with us at Treetops. One could not believe you occupied the same Starlight as Flore 84 reviewed in August 2012, the write ups are so contradictory. However, sadly to say you did. Our one and only Starlight. When you arrived at reception, Debbie, I was actually rendered speechless by your entry and attitude – not very professional of me, I must admit, and for that I apologise. Gina did mention the art gallery section of the reception was being renovated, trying to lighten the atmosphere of your arrival and actually get off to a good start. Apparently her attempt became your chance to ridicule. Ambuiance is actually spelt ‘ambience’ and loosely means the perceived character and atmosphere of a place through the eyes of the beholder and of course can be enhanced or debased by the mood or integrity of the person or persons who occupy the area. Romance cannot be manufactured for or by a building, it can only be created by the chemistry of two people as it is the pleasurable feeling from an emotional attraction from one person to another associated with love. $550 for a 2 night weekend with wine and chocolates on arrival, in room bacon and eggs hamper breakfasts for each morning that you prepare at your leisure and a $25 voucher to a local restaurant in a rainforest seaview treehouse with great ambience ( bring your own positive emotional attraction ) is ‘ALOT of hard earnt money’ – but not overpriced . I personally have never felt any movement in Starlight building, but will get my builder to recheck the steel bracing. Regarding privacy, you can drive or walk passed the general vicinity of Starlight but would be hard pressed to become a voyeur – at the very most only one side blind would need to be drawn which would not be detrimental to breeze or view. Starlight was actually designed with no windows or opening doors on the road entry side to assure the occupier privacy once inside. ‘NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS’ is the same emotion you displayed, which left me speechless, on your arrival at reception. To CAP it all off there are 2 signs in Starlight. 1 explains fire safety and fire extinguisher usage. The other, quite small above the splash back of the sink does explain to the guest that a surcharge will apply if the cabin is left in a condition that is less than satisfactory – maybe not quite politically correct and certainly not put there to try and collect revenue but to protect the condition of our cabins. We have taken on board all your comments, Deb, and will strive harder to please all guests, as is our responsibility and want. I admire your declaration of love for your hubby at the end of your letter – he is a lucky man. John Hunt.
