We recently stayed here for a family wedding at The Old Dairy. We had various groups booked in. My family of four had a two bedroom apartment which was perfect for our four night stay. The location right on the edge of town was perfect so we could walk to the shops, restaurants and pub. Although we had booked the ocean view room but did not receive it, the staff were most apologetic and refunded us the extra we had paid for this room type. I would definitely stay here again if I was coming to Montville.

We stayed 4 nights in the 3 bedroom apartment to celebrate a special occasion & we were super impressed by room and the restaurant. Stylish, modern & luxurious unit. Ideally located for walking to cafes/restaurant or shopping. Everything was perfect. The fireplace took it to the next level. The beds were very comfortable. Every tiny detail has been thought of. So clean, and spacious! Fabulous food and every dish was perfection. We tried almost all food on the menu and they were exceptional. The service was great and staff were friendly. Will definitely recommend the hotel and the restaurant.

We stayed here for two nights and loved it. The fireplace and spa bath were perfect after being out in the winter weather and it was an easy (less than 5 minute walk) to the pub and shops. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone after a cozy weekend getaway.

The restaurant was ok but we preferred the pub next door (I believe they’re owned by the same people) and keep in mind that the IGA shuts very early (6.30 I think) so if you need any supplies (or late night treats!) make sure you bring them with you.

Website describes this accommodation as luxury accommodation including a variety of studio's and apartments, boutique restaurant, bar and function rooms. This review is based on a stay in a Forest View room. The room upon entry gave the impression of an office display showroom or waiting area. The "Kitchen" consisted of a bar fridge and bench top with a coffee pod machine and a few tea bags. There was no sink to clean cups or fill the kettle with water so had to use bathroom tap. The area was completed by a chair. The lounge room consisted of a small uncomfortable lounge and chair and very small TV. There was a very large balcony area however if you opened the door to use the balcony the Air Con inside the room would turn off and you would have to reset it, problem was it took up to 5 minutes for the Air Con to kick in and start to cool down the room something you dont need on a hot 30 degree day. The bedroom and bathroom were nice and modern. The accommodation did not have a warm inviting feel and the modern minimal feel was such a contrast to the feel of the town itself. The restaurant is very boutique as it was not even open! Access to the rooms are by stairs only. The luxury may be more evident in other rooms?

I have some cons to mention but mostly this place was good for a few nights. I reviewed (and have stayed at)many of the accommodation options in Montville before booking Altitude and thought because we would be out all day the simple room would not be a problem to rest in the evening. We hiked the five waterfall hikes that are in surrounding region all week. Our first room smelled a little off until we aired it out and the road noise is horrendous during the day time. We had no problems at night though as the traffic is much less. The wifi is slow and the TV is not a smart TV and buffers constantly on the complimentary Foxtel. We had a sleeping arrangement issue and the hotel moved us to another room with more bed options immediately upon request. I cannot fault them. They were very nice, extremely pleasant and accommodating. The restaurant food was great (complimentary room
Service), the views are actually spectacular and all seems clean and tidy.

We stayed for 2 nights and were impressed with the room and amenities. Plenty of storage etc and bed was comfortable.
However our tv would not work - it was frozen on one screen and we called reception the first night & nobody picked up and nobody bothered to call us back either. We called the next afternoon at 4.45 and even went down to reception (not manned) and told the cleaner who said they would pass it on. Still nobody came to the room or called us to help. Very unimpressed!!

Imagine if we had an emergency - we would have had to wait all night until the next morning for someone to be available.

Would not stay here again.

My wife and I stayed at the Altitude Hotel at Montville on Saturday 21 May. The start of our stay we enjoyed a lovely lunch of tapas and cocktails. The lunch is highly recommended and we relished all of the five tapas options on the menu especially the oysters. The staff we met were very friendly and added to the dining experience.
The hotel room was very spacious with all the modern amenities. There was a gas fireplace, a spa on the deck and the bed very comfortable. Our stay would have been great if it wasn’t for the returning wedding party at 10:00 pm. There is a wedding reception venue at the rear of the hotel and I believe the hotel is popular with people attending weddings there. After 10:00 pm the hotel resembled a frat house with drinking in the corridors, shouting, banging of doors. With no chance of getting to sleep we called hotel reception but with no staff on-site at night there was no answer. At 11:15 I called the after-hours number and spoke to Ryan and explained the situation. I received a text message back at 11:30 that someone would be out in 10 min. When someone did come out it did quieten down for half an hour but when they left the party started again. At 2:30 am we messaged Ryan from the hotel again but no response. At 3:00 am we had to shout at people to quieten down and move outside as the noise was extreme.
With no on-site staff, guests can do what they want with no consideration to other guests. With no sleep until after 3:00 am we wouldn’t stay there again and would recommend asking if there is a large wedding party booked in to ensure you can get some sleep. We did get an apology from reception at checkout but with what we had to put up with it was all too late.

I booked a room for my sisters 60 th birthday. I asked for 2 separate beds and received confirmation that this had been actioned.
We walked in and were informed that they had bad news for us, this was that they only had a room with a King bed. They said it was my fault for booking that room and would not acknowledge that they had communicated to me that they noted 2 single beds. I explained I was recovering from covid and that we couldn’t sleep in 1 bed. They offered us a 2 bedroomed unit for $200 extra. I was not prepared to pay this, I just wanted my booking honoured as confirmed.
We asked to see the manager who arrived 15 minutes later, evidently her day off.
I have NEVER met such a rude, dismissive person. She asked if I thought they were a furniture removalist business and then told me that if I booked the cheapest room available what do I expect. Eventually after both of us raising our voices she said we could have our deposit back and sarcastically wished us luck finding other accomodation. This was at 4-00 pm. I could never recommend this place to anyone as this female manager is someone you wouldn’t want to discuss anything of importance with. She was fiery, intimidating and had no people skills at all. She at one point stopped the receptionist refunding our deposit as she wanted an apology from me which I obviously wouldn’t give. Please don’t stay there!

Has something changed in the last few months? New owners? Not sure, but it didn't meet the expectations we had come to rely on after many years staying here. The rooms seemed bare, with the 2 and 3 bedroom apartments having insufficient seating to let all the occupants sit down. Parts of the rooms/balconies are run down with rotting tables and blinds covered in cobwebs, though the interiors remain sparse, but clean, some furniture has seen better days though.

The location means there is almost no mobile phone reception, meaning guests are heavily reliant on wifi, which quite frankly is not fit for purpose (slower than dial up) with spotty coverage as you move around. If you are seeking to disconnect from the world then you're on a role. For the rest of us, it is useless even for simple news reading, if you have teenagers who need to plug in while away, don't stay here.

The restaurant, once a superb dining experience is reduced to pub style meals with a pay at the counter approach that somehow seems at odds with the up-market dining area. We tried it one evening, but spent the rest of our stay walking up the hill into the town for food where there are many options available.

The staff were friendly and approachable, but the place has lost its pizzaz and appeal. Given the competition in the area, this is a shame. This will be the last time we choose to stay here, which after 4 years of eager returns is a testimony to how it has changed.

The first thing you notice when attempting to get to the reception is the stairs...there is no ramp or lift available so if you have heavy luggage, prams and/or mobility limitations access is a major barrier.

The stairs continue inside the property..so by the time you get to your room after hauling bags and sore knees up you need a rest.

We had an apartment with three rooms which were adequate but not dazzling. The sofa in the loungeroom is old and lost all integrity. There are no ceiling fans which is odd as it was really hot and would have been great to circulate the air.

The wifi/mobile reception is shocking! Basically it doenst work in the room at all..so you can either stand on the stairs waving your phone around for a signal or forget finding out what is going on in the world and do a crossword.

The location is not ideal as its a fair walk from any shops or restaurants, so we went to the restaurant at the property which was beyond terrible! We were given wrong orders, orders coming out at random times which were cold and tasteless. Rude staff who didnt bother to check into see how we were enjoying (or not enjoying the meals). Very disappointing.

The road is really noisy and you get the smell of smoke from people in other rooms.

I wouldnt recommend staying here as im sure there are lots of other more feiendly and accessible properties in the area.

Yes. Fireplace in the room. Spa on out on the verandah. Try book a room up high with a view like we did. Just beautiful. Yes...there are stairs, no lifts. But easy walk as it's only 2 floors.
