We stayed here overnight whilst walking the Dales Way, this inn is directly on the trail. Beautifully clean and comfortable accommodation. Excellent choice of beers and good choice of really good food on menu.

There is nothing particularly fancy about this B&B in terms of the rooms and the facilities - for example, I had access to a bath but not a shower. And there is no access to WiFi in the immediate area (hooray!) This is more than compensated for by the friendliness of the hosts, the excellent and tasty bar nosh and...

Stopped here for one night as part of a 6 day Dales Way walk. A very old pub in a beautiful location with a warm welcome. Excellent room (1) with modern bathroom next door. Good conversation at the bar, good food, good beer. Reasonable prices. Outstanding steak & ale pie.TV in bar area. No mobile signal & no wi-fi -...

I visited this pub several times during my recent stay in the area. Although it does provide accommodation, my visits were to sample the beer, the atmosphere and food. I enjoyed all three. This is a great pub. Sandra and Ron are excellent hosts, and made me feel welcome straight away. The real coal file presents a cosy atmosphere on...

This is a rustic pub, and you do not get ensuite bathrooms with your room, but do still get a dedicated bathroom for each of the 6 rooms, across the corridor. Food is served at strictly limited hours morning and night. The bar serves excellent beer, and surprisingly good food for what on the face of it is a rustic...

A great weekend at Cowgill in Dent Dale. Ron and Sandra were perfect hosts and our weekend exceeded all expectations. The venue was warm and welcoming. All the Staff work very hard to ensure every comfort. It was wonderful to sleep with the window open and to hear the calming sound of the nearby stream. Thanks for everything.

A welcome place to stay on the Dales Way. The bedroom was fine and we had a private shower and bath. Food in the evening was nice and breakfast good. It was slightly noisy in the evening, but it is a pub. A bit pricey for a B&B but we had limited choice in the area.

We stayed for four nights over the August Bank Holiday (four nights for the price of three!), and had a wonderful time. The rooms were comfortable - with the river running by outside - the food delicious, and the landlords couldn't have been more kind and caring. We even had a bit of a problem during our stay and they...

The Penine brew was excellent, nice roaring fire on a wet day, and the landlord and landlady very friendly. After visiting, I read all the reviews most of which were favourable! I can't help commenting on the few negative comments - Yes, there is limited mobile phone coverage and yes, the landlord has a Yorkshire accent! Its in the Yorkshire...
