Stunning property that feels like staying in someone’s luxury mansion. The view from this property is incredible, nestled in Portuguese wine country. Wonderful, friendly service. Delicious breakfast in addition to a very comfortable bed and great, large shower. A great base for exploring the region and just a little over an hour from Porto Airport. Absolutely will be back.
I have never stayed in a more unwelcoming hotel from the minute we stepped onto the property to the minute we left. We had a very unfriendly check-in with the manager not even acknowledging my presence in the small check in room. In fact, I felt pretty discriminated against because she was friendly to my boyfriend who is German ( I am Asian). A WiFi password was not provided and we looked for personnel a few times during out two night stay to get the password but could not locate anyone which did not lend to the overall experience since the internet connectivity is very poor on the entire premise. Unfortunately, I had the same experience again during checkout. The manager simply covered her mouth since she wasn't wearing a mask and didn't say a word to me so I simply handed her to key. Also, we had booked this hotel to enjoy the view which we learned is impossible to do because of the constant highway noise. We had a king room which shared a balcony with the neighboring room. To separate the balcony, a waist level fence was added which gives zero privacy and makes it an uncomfortable experience. In addition, the walls are paper thin which means you can hear everything from the neighbor and everything in the hallway (it gets noisy fairly early because of breakfast preparations). …
What a gorgeous little hotel in a spectacular setting! We were warmly welcomed and well cared for; the staff even gave us a ride to our restaurant and picked us up so we could enjoy the wines. Our room was large, the bed was amazing, the bathroom was huge and the shower was a dream! We stayed two nights, spending our days exploring the surrounding area. We drove to Pinhão just to see the incredible wine country, and spent most of a day in Lamego, where the museum was a highlight. But perhaps our favorite part of the visit was eating at the restaurant that the hotel staff recommended, Aneto Wines & Table. Fantastic food and delightful service. We'll be back!
I had a good feeling about this nice and cozy place, but the reality was even better. Well located and everything perfect, the views are nice and the pool was kept in perfect condition even though my visit was at the end of February. Just missed something to hang my towel in the bathroom.
Hotel provided an incredibly positive experience for our party of three (we had two rooms). The staff were warm and welcoming at all times, offered delicious breakfast omelets, provided valuable information about the town and region, and delivered overall exceptional service. Rooms were comfortable and (for Europe) large and modern including the bathrooms which featured wonderfully, huge body hugging bath sheets. The location was a 10-minute walk (or four- minute drive) to town and almost in the centre of the Douro making trips to the wineries especially convenient. Price was very reasonable. Only one negative comment: the rooms and hallways have scatter rugs that may cause falls or trips (we moved ours under the bed). Overall a great accommodation and definitely worth a return visit the next time we come to the Douro.…
