Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Overpriced meals without atmosphere! I really can’t justify paying $39 for a Parma very ordinary plate with a little gravy and a few chips thrown in? $15 for pav and berries! I get transport would be expensive to Birdsville … honestly keep the menu simple and affordable for families …

The room & hotel services are second to none. The owner is on hand & very personable. We were so happy to stay after our drive through the Simpson - hot shower, good food & comfortable bed! Very welcoming!

The Birdsville Hotel is an iconic pub in an iconic town in an amazing part of Australia. A fantastic place to stay and to experience. We greatly enjoyed our overnight stop there. The hotel was very good, indeed far better than we'd expected in the middle of nowhere. The room was comfortable and well equipped. We ate in the dining room and really enjoyed the meal too. It is expensive at AUD 250 a night for a double but everything is expensive in such remote areas. The only downside (and a significant one that causes me to lower my rating from 5 to 4) is that there's no internet access available. There is internet in the town but the hotel doesn't provide it. It should. A pity to sound this negative note when everything else was so fantastic. Loved the town, the hotel and the staff. I want to go again.

The rooms here have very comfortable beds and the showers are hot. The meals are value for money and service as good as in any city. Our group was treated to a bus trip to local sights and then to Big Red for sunset.

An iconic hotel. Everyone should stay here once in their life. What a place. Great veranda to sit and drink beer on. The bar with the hats is truly splendid. Rooms well appointed, scrupulously clean. The whole experience is remarkable.

We stayed at this iconic Pub before the Big Red Bash 23 for a hot shower and good feed. Despite the terrible weather that caused many people to be stranded in Birdsville unplanned, the Pub dealt with everything fabulously. Very organised to feed so many people (best lamb shanks ever!), great entertainment, lovely happy & calm staff and clean, comfortable rooms. I'd definitely go back!

It was a bucket list adventure for my grandfather to visit the iconic Birdsville hotel and it did not disappoint. The stay was perfect, rooms clean tidy and the beds very comfortable with great quality linen and pillows. The food was delicious and the service was top quality. All the team there were a pleasure to deal with. My main tips would be: 1. Book in advance during the busy periods 2. Stay multiple nights 3. Book a scenic flight in advance, they are definitely worth it. We went on the Lake Eyre and Willow Creek Hotel scenic flight (which you can book through the hotel in advance) with awesome pilot Tay and it was such an amazing experience and well worth it! Thanks guys!!! Highly recommend a stay here!!

Barmaid was rude, only interested in selling over priced flight tour, beer was expensive mid strength beer $12.50 atmosphere flat. Very disappointing, next trip I’ll be filling up fuel and keep driving. Rather go to the dentist for root canal treatment then here again.

Great staff, great food and great amenities with many things to do in Birdsville. Golf, a scenic flight or two and a visit to the Birdsville Bakery were some of the highlights to fill the days with great evening meals and banter enjoyed by everyone at night time. A visit to Big Red is also a must do. The rooms and bathrooms are looking fantastic, definitely worthwhile a visit and stay!
