Le Cassini is located in Le Freney-d'Oisans, an authentic mountain village in the heart of the Oisans valley. l'Alpe d'Huez is 25 km away and Les Deux Alpes 12 km. Free WiFi is available in the rooms. The guest rooms feature a private bathrooms, views of the mountains, heating and a TV. This charming ten room counting hotel holds the warmth and friendliness of a small 3-star hotel, combined with quality and professional service. They are always available and attentive to customer and speak four languages: Dutch, English, French and German! It is the ideal hotel for mountain trips, cycling challenges and relaxation in the healthy mountain air. The cuisine stands out from the other restaurants in the area and doesn't serve the traditional raclettes or fondue menus. Maarten passionately prepares recipes from all over the world to amaze and surprise his guests. Flavours and fragrances of North Africa mingle happily with flavours from Asia and the scents coming from the Mediterranean regions! There are also a few French classics originally served to surprise the taste buds. In the morning they prepare a complete breakfast buffet with warm baguettes, croissants and chocolate rolls, brown bread, fresh fruit, yoghurt, local jam and honey, charcuterie and cheeses. In summer the also serve lunch on their terrace. In winter you can benefit from discounts for the rooms with a minimum stay of 3 nights, for ski rental and day-skipasses for Alpe d'Huez. In summer, cycling and hiking can be enjoyed in the surroundings. Grenoble is a 1-hour drive away. Free public parking is available on site.

We visited this hotel now in Jan. with my family and we immediately fell in love with this place, the snow covered area with the running river next to the hotel, created a perfect resting place. The owners, Sophia and Maarten are great, they are very nice and pleasant people and know how to treat their customers. They were very helpful and relaxed, making the entire experience of our trip very pleasurable.
There is no need to post photos as the official photos are exactly what you get. The place is clean, in a quite small village and with very comfortable rooms, we felt like home and our daughter, which is 3 loved all of it.
The location is also very good, only 10min with a car from the base of the ski slopes and the lifts, with plenty to do. Also there are other very nice stuff to do, both in winter and summer.
Finally but not in the last place, the food... The food is simply great, Maarten, knows how to run his kitchen and the quality of the food is worth of a Michelin star restaurants.
Will definitely go back!

We chose this hotel as we wanted to avoid the mass tourism options in Les deux Alpes and we were not disappointed. The rooms are simple, tasteful and fully functional. Breakfast had a good selection of local products (honeycomb, cheeses, charcuterie) and the people running it are super friendly and helpful. What elevated it to 5 star for us was the restaurant where every day there was a 3 course menu and really can’t compare it to any other options in the area - just try it ;)

Excellent cosy hotel, superb setting in the valley towards Bourg d’Oisans and a great base for motorbiking or bicycling the area, e.g. to go to Alpe d’Huez, 2 Alpes, Col du Glandon/Croix de Fer and Galibier. Set menu is served at night, on a nice outside terrace, simple but very tasty. Delicious breakfast to start your day.

My husband and I spent 5 nights here in July. It's a little gem! The room was comfortable with a nice view. The breakfast was breads, croissants, cheese, meats, eggs, muesli, etc. Dinner was delicious! The flavors complemented each other and wasn't a heavy meal. They don't have a large wine list but we found wine to complement the meal. The owners are attentive and provided advice on where to hike in the area. It's in a great location for hiking or biking. The scenery in this area is amazing! Beautiful views! I highly recommend visiting and staying at Le Cassini.

After eight years we have now been to Le Cassini for the second time and I am always delighted. It's a hotel that makes you forget any stress with its great atmosphere. Romantically situated in great surroundings and personally managed, the hosts round off the holiday. Nice, friendly and very personable.
Another highlight is the cuisine, which is extremely tasty.
I always have fond memories of my stays at Le Cassini.

Very nice hotel, very clean and with the special flair of a small and family owned hotel. Sophia and Maarten are the perfect hosts. Breakfast and dinner are of high quality. This it maybe what characterizes the hotel the best: high quality.
The hotel is located perfectly for bike trips to some of the most iconic climbs of France (eg Galibier and Glandon). Highly recommend

We stayed here for 4 nights on a biking trip in the Alps. The hotel was quite comfortable, the food excellent, and the owners were awesome. When we had issues with our rental bikes, the owners, Sophia and Maarten, went 'above and beyond' to help us. They literally saved our trip. Highly recommend! In fact, we hope to come back next year.

I spent 4 nights here with a buddy while on a cycling adventure in the Alps. The room was clean and comfortable. The food was amazing - breakfast and especially dinner. Sophia and Maarten were spectacular hosts and made sure we were well taken care of - from coordinating the drop off and pick up of our rental bikes, to setting up a post-ride massage with Veronica (great cycling massage - btw), to helping us plan out our ride routes, to even making sure we had clean clothes. They were great. The ambiance was quaint, cozy and social. I hope to be back visiting soon and I highly recommend Hotel Cassini to everyone.

The hotel is owner run by a very friendly Dutch couple Sophie and Martijn.
It is conveniently nestled in between the two major winter/summer stations of Alpe d'Huez and Les 2 Alps.
The hotel is very clean and the food was exceptional.
Ask for a room facing out back as the view up the mountain and over the river is beautiful.
Great location for cycling, hiking, walking, skiing, or driving the stunning roads around that area of the French alps!

Chris and I had been planning a cycling trip to the French Alps for two years before it finally came to fruition. We enlisted the aid of one of the many companies that cater to cyclists in France, providing hotels, restaurants, and ride maps. From the moment we arrived in La Freney d’Oisans at the Cassini Hotel we knew we had found a gem. Prior to arriving we had no real idea of what we would find for accommodations or who we might meet. Martin and Sophia greeted us with a warmth and friendliness that made us feel that we were already old friends.

The hotel has an old world charm but with all the modern conveniences. The downstairs dining ad sitting area have a cozy feeling about them and we found it very easy to engage other guests in conversation, especially those who had the common interest in biking.

One of my concerns about travel in general is food. Or, rather, finding the right places that serve a guy with dietary restrictions. Too often when I sign up for a vegetarian, dairy-free menu, the result seems to be almost an afterthought, with carrot sticks and baked potatoes the common fare. Not so here. Martin is a world class chef and, as it turned out, he and Sophia are also vegetarians. All the meals I had were equal or better than my meat-eating counterparts. I felt like I had my own personal chef. A very nice compliment to an already great hotel experience.

The only time we cared about time was making sure we weren’t late for the dinner hour. Or, more accurately, the two hours of dinner. The several courses were served in such a manner that we had plenty of time to reflect on the day and all of the details of the trip. Dinner was also an experience, not just something to get out of the way in a hurry.

Martin and Sophia manage the Cassisi Hotel with what I will call a casual efficiency. They spend a goodly amount of time with each guest making sure that they are comfortable and offering up suggestions for rides, sights, or other local experiences we might enjoy. But behind this easy-going friendliness is an efficiency that keeps everything on track, clean, and orderly. However, we never saw how they actually did that. We just marveled that it was always that way.

Martin and Sophia set a very high bar for customer service and hotel management. Were we to do this trip again, I suspect we would cancel the second half of the trio and just stay at the Cassini and all that if offers for comfort, convenience, and a pace that is truly relaxing. All most welcome after a day of cycling up and down those hill.
