I must admit that before I arrived at The Trout I didn't know what to expect as I had read reviews prior to leaving our home some of which were less than complimentary to say the least! We had a table booked for 7.30 and arrived early as we wanted to catch the last of the sun with a glass...

I had never been to the Cotswolds before, and we decided to combine a business/photography trip to the midlands with a few days in Oxfordshire. An absolute cracker of a hotel, quiet, peaceful (ocassional passing cars), beautiful gardens with the Thames at the bottom Staff couldn't do enough, food was great on the 2 nights out of 3 we ate...

We went for lunch on a weekday with our little child and we were so happy to have eaten there, the food is amazing and the service good. The property is set next to the famous Tadpole bridge on the Thames and the water flowing by is just so lovely. The pub has some amazing collections of local ale, not...

What would you expect from a Michelin star restaurant / hotel: 1) Great location – it was lovely part of the cotsworld 2) Kirb appeal – beautiful to look at and very inviting 3) Inside bar / restaurant – very clean and rustic and very a relaxed atmosphere 4) Menu – very unique and clearly fitting for a Michelin star...

Dear Mr Higham, Thank you for your thoughts on your recent stay with us, and for awarding us a Michelin star in the process. I should clarify that whilst we are listed in the guide, we do not have a star. Your very positive comments at the beginning of your review are very welcome. With regard to your negative points,...

stopped for lunch at this little treasure while on our thames walk. The building and grounds were so beautiful we had to pull in for a break. The lunch was outstanding with many of us rating their meal as the best of our 8 day walk. We are 6 Australian ladies who make a lot of noise, and have quite...

Thank you for your lovely review, you were a delight to have at the inn and we enjoyed your company. Thankfully I live not far away from where you were staying next so it was a pleasure to relieve you of your bags!

Cracking food, but small 'gastro' portions and fairly pricey. Great staff though, lovely atmosphere, and a cracking pint. Definitely worth a visit. Better than a country mile than some of the other hotels/pubs we've stayed in locally.

Thank you for your review, I am sorry you found the portions small. We spend a great deal of time and effort sourcing our ingredients and they are super fresh and as far as we can achieve local. I am sure you are aware that the cost of food has increased over the last few years, and we are no...

Thank you for your review, after 8 days of walking and a range of whatever the British weather could throw at you you were still enormous fun! Well done you for completing your walk and still remaining friends!

Having booked a table for two, we arrived and walked in to what is a very nice on the river country pub. The one gripe I have and it is a personal bug bear is that we were stood at the door for a few minuets and the waitresses seemed to look straight through us before I made the point...

Thank you for your lovely review. I am sorry you were not welcomed straight away, the beautiful weather has meant that much of our business is being conducted in the garden. This necessarily means that most of the staff are out there and the three staff at the front of the house were all looking after other guests at the...

We went here for the first time this week for my husband's birthday after a spot of wild swimming at Chimney Meadows. Whilst it was the tapas menu that had tempted us, it was disappointing to discover on arrival that it's only served on weekday lunchtimes. The ordering system was a little chaotic insomuch as the young man behind the...

We stayed over the weekend with our baby and my mother. Our rooms were nice but a little dark. My mother's room had no bathroom light one evening and this was not sorted out.
