although looking a little tired, the price is fair for this. The staff were friendly, the bar comfortable, the dogs welcome. The breakfast, although not bad, could be improved with a little more care. The tea & coffee weren't very hot, the bacon & marmalade ran out. Was a bit confusing as the table info said to order cooked breakfast,... More

This was our second visit to Chirk and the Hand Hotel, although the first was five years ago. Our group of 40+ people had taken over the hotel for two nights to view the local area with rambles, town guides and visits to various attractions. We had breakfast and dinner on both days with afternoon tea in between. The facilities... More

The only complaint is that we were in room 5 which has a large hot pipe along the length of the room, so although the window was always open day and night the room was still always hot, even in a mild October, but everything else including: the room size and storage, the (excellent) food, the friendly staff, the bar/beer,... This is an old Coaching Inn and a listed building with lots of history, convenient for both the Chirk Castle and the Llangollen Canal. Walking distance to the aqueduct. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful.

Went in with friends for an evening meal. Nice surroundings though the 'library wallpaper' now seems to be in almost every pub. Food very decent 'pub grub' and all four of us enjoyed everything we had but what really made the night was the charming and sassy waitress Olivia. A treasure and I hope the hotel realises it.

Restaurant was spotlessly clean / Staff were very friendly and attentive / food was absolutely amazing and very generous portions and value for money - also surroundings were very beautiful - will definitely visit again.

Checked into here as we were attending a wedding about 7 miles away (in a barn) however I'm not a camping type of person! We were shown to our rooms which was a bit of trek from the main part of the hotel. Rooms were clean and basic but considering the price and the amount of time we were staying... More

We arrived down from Llangollan by Narrow Boat and tied up in the canal just before the Chirk Tunnel and near the railway station. We strolled into town about 5.30 pm. And walked about then went to the Hand Hotel for a beer and cider. Friendly staff member who served us . We sat in a nice lounge area on... More
