Detailed Reviews
This was our third stay at Ecoscapes - the first in winter. The units aregreat with an amazing tranquil view that changes with the weather. We were 2 couples (the only guests) and as the restaurant was closed for dinner our hosts insisted on us eating our meal in our rooms on our knees. Last time we were at least allowed to eat around a table together in the empty restaurant - a small compromise which would have made a big difference to our stay. Disappointing!

Nothing great apart from the location. Room was decent, could have been spacious given the amount. Similar resorts in NZ and other places provide bigger rooms. Location was picturesque, winter months might have been wonderful as there was no snow in December. Food was good, and we don’t have any other option as well.

My husband and I visited Kinloch for a two night stay at ecoscape pod, what a fabulous place! You really can’t take your eyes off the beautiful scenery and surroundings. We wanted peace & quiet and that is exactly what we got.
We are not into hiking or mountain climbing, just a regular 60+ couple who enjoy casually walking along at our own leisure. On day 2 we drove our car to Lake Sylvan DOC campsite from Kinloch which took 20 minutes then walked across the swing bridge where a track leads you through the Mount Aspiring national park, it took us approximately 45 minutes walk to reach Lake Sylvan and it’s viewing platform which was so beautiful. Something we’ll never forget. A soak in the hot tub & a glass of wine on return before dinner made the day extra special.
There is a campsite at Kinloch but it’s only a small patch maybe 10 pitches max which some people have left negative reviews about but we liked the idea of other people in our midst and passed some time away people watching! 😊
Everything about this place is special the breakfast & dinner was spot on and the dining area is everything and more.
The pod had everything we needed even a small fridge to keep our liquid refreshments cold.
Just don’t forget the sandfly repellent! Unfortunately they are about but Kinloch was their territory way before us humans ☺️

As the complex comes into view from the road we were greeted with an embankment of struggling shrubs and plants with lots of plastic protectors dangling around them. Bit of TLC needed. Car parking for the echo/scape unit is fine but the steps up to the building are dangerous as is the deep hole full of alkathene pipes . An hour with some flat schist rocks would be much safer. A shelf in the bathroom would a great addition as it would save putting the toilet bag on the floor next to the toilet. The projector above the bed works if you can navigate the instructions. Not so exciting in an echo house lying in bed looking at lots of wires and a red light above you. The view out the front window is outstanding.

Sorry we've only just seen this review, thanks for taking the time to leave it. We have been working hard at improving our site while quite tightly staffed. The embankment mentioned as been mulched with bark chip and the protectors are in place to protect the plants while they grow, they are still new. We will review the access to the front EcoScape from the parking area. There is a cupboard under the sink in the bathroom, but we'll see how we can improve storage options. We have tidied the projector wires as best we can, we'll see if we can cover the red light in a way that enables the projector to still work. The instructions in the the room for the projector were made as clear as possible but we'll have a look and see if we can improve them. Thank you for coming to stay and for the feedback.

After travelling for 5 days at a quick pace, it was great to spend our last night here. We were so glad to relax on the bed and just take in the fantastic view and the serenity.
Dinner next store at Kinloch was delicious. They were able to deal with my wife's dietary requirements without an issue and use all local produce.
After dinner we went for a walk, before putting down the blind which turns in to projector screen.
Next morning they served a very tasty breakfast to our room, which is included.
If you are thinking of staying here, don't delay, because it books out quickly.

Toni and John looked after us from the first call to book through to the exit. Nothing was too difficult to manage. We had the most amazing vegan food delivered to our room, a beautiful breakfast made with vegan yoghurt.
The view was awesome, we lay in bed and relaxed, didn’t need TV the view constantly changing sky and the views of the river delta changing throughout the day into dusk were spectacular. This place is a hidden gem and if you are pausing thinking about booking. Book it!
Truely grateful for the opportunity to experience this wonderful place and the humble beautiful owners and hospitality we experienced.

We stayed here for one night in the Ecoscape cabin and absolutely loved it. We arrived late, after a long days walking, and Toni and John were great, accommodating this and serving up some amazing venison. The food is really good and being able to eat it on our cabin's terrace and drink in the evening view over the lake and mountains, followed by a dip in the hot tub, was a perfect way to finish the day and relax. The cabins are perfect - simple, efficient , cosy, very well presented and everything you need. Love the single large window at the end of the bed - forget closing the blind at night, keep it open and look out over the lake, mountains and skies throughout the night and watch them change! Its worth going there for that alone!! A big thank you to Toni and John for sharing this special location with us.

We stayed 4 nights here and spent the time doing day hikes in the area, zip lining through the Ox Burn gorge and relaxing. It was the perfect location for doing all these things. The accomodation was just so perfect for our needs. Warm and cosy, beautifully and sustainably appointed, and had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The hospitality shown by John and Toni and their staff was top notch, not to mention the food that they prepare each day for our breakfasts (included) and dinners when we decided to eat in. All in all a wonderful few days spent exploring this beautiful area of our country. Hard to leave the tranquility behind! Thanks again John and Toni. Regards Claire and Phil

The best breakfast I’ve had in all of New Zealand, and we’re from Melbourne so we are pretty serious about our brunch 😂 The property was absolutely stunning and the hosts were very friendly! The Netflix projector was a lovely touch. The view out of the large glass in front of the bed was something out of a postcard. It was incredible to watch the colours near the lake and the mountains change through the day, then to look at the stars. Special shout-out to Molly the dog, the most adorable assistant to the owners. We’ll definitely be back here!

We recently stayed couple of nights at Ecoscapes (Booked via Luxury Escapes). Its a wonderful place to unwind & soul searching. The cabin has all the facilities for comfortable stay and hosts can assist in a meal plan & any activities that you desire. They all were great and provided fanstastic service. We Highly re-commend for somebody looking to relax & wanna escape the hustle & bustle, dont hesitate to book.
