This was the second time staying at the The Maples, loved the location, ski in ski out convenience and size of the room, this time it was myself, my wife and son, we stayed in a Deluxe room which was perfect for a small family, has a kitchen which was great for getting out on the slopes quickly every morning. Location is good walking distance to all the restaurants and supermarket. The hotel doesn't have an onsen but you can use the onsen in the prince hotel directly adjacent for 2000Yen adult/1000Yen child which we did on multiple occasions. Just before we arrived rain had washed all the snow away but the hotel was very accommodating in providing transport to Hanazono on the two days our son had lessons. The snow wouldn't stop pouring from the third day so we decided to extend for another two days, big thanks to the manager Blake for helping us find a room to extend. A massive shout out to Katie from the conciege who if it wasn't for her help we would not have managed to find transport to the airport, it was holiday season and all the taxi companies were fully booked so we were so grateful for her help. Overall a great holiday and will definately come again, big thanks to the whole team!

I feel compelled to write a review and we haven’t finished our holiday yet! The service and staff are excellent. They are very welcoming and helpful. We are staying in a two bedroom suite which is very spacious, has lovely amenities, comfy beds and a powerful shower. Niro in reservations was very helpful and patient and put me in contact with guest services where they booked our ski passes, organised ski lessons and rental gear. Upon check in we had a slight issue with our room but Mia and Shizuku sorted it out very quickly and we were able to check in early which was a bonus. The hotel provides a driver (when available) to drop you where you need to go (dot base etc) so special thanks to Torsten, Charlie and David for their top tips in the local area. Maples is a ski in/ ski out which was fabulous, the ease of skiing in and not having to walk anywhere after a days skiing was great. Lockers are provided for boots and skis. The smell other people have mentioned is sulphur from the natural springs, so nothing to do with the hotel. You can use the onsen at the Vale hotel too. The pizza restaurant at the front of the hotel was delicious so was the Roketto restaurant at the back with a lovely view of the family slope. We will definitely come back.

Very nice place. We had a 2+1 bedroom unit, rooms are beautiful & adequately equipped with all we may need. Toiletries, towels, humidifier, iron, drying racks, nespresso, toaster, kettle, cooking & eating stuff etc. the best part is, they are very very clean. It’s a ski in-out property. Ski lockers in the basement, ski down from the lift and store them in the lockers or put in your skis & ski down to take the lift. Staff are all helpful & friendly. Everyone speaks English, even arranged shuttle for us to go around hirafu. There’s also a physio onsite, managed to solve my daughter’s shin & ankle problem in just 1 session. We will stay here again, good pricing & most importantly, we had a fantastic stay.

We were so excited being what we thought was to be a bucket list ski trip of a lifetime, saved our dollars & wanted ski out ski in accommodation. We stayed for 11 nights in a studio apartment which was fine for the 2 of us, though with reading all of the reviews over the years from not being able to hang ‘anything’ at all pre or post ski, you would think The Maples may just listen after so many similar reviews?

A few simple wall hooks would be amazing, however not to be, bathroom or room. Anyway, quite insignificant in the big scheme of things. Where we were really disappointed was the obvious stench of raw sewerage in the ski locker room, it was repulsive. What really p*ssed us off were the staff were clearly instructed to pass this off to their ‘valued clients’ as nothing more than merely wet carpets. We felt physically ill each time we had to suit up to ski for the day & then reluctant to return knowing what we were in for. The cancelations policies upon when booking at The Maples are watertight, our rights to ask for a different room were almost scoffed at when requested.

I hope you are reading this Stephanie, pull your finger out & start listening to your clients. We would definitely NOT stay here again for how we were lied to & dismissed so quickly.

It was so good to be so close to the slopes. The proximity of the boot room to the entry to the family ski run made it easy to get going skiing! The Maples is also very close to some of the best restaurants and bars.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
But perhaps the best thing was our apartment, we had our three adult children with us and used two bedrooms and a tatami in a third sectioned off area. We also had three bathrooms. The kitchen was well facilitated, and the washer dryer was also very useful.
The Maples is particularly good for anyone who is in Niseko for a short period and wants to make the most of their time. We were there for four nights and loved every minute of our time at The Maples and in Niseko.

As many others have mentioned, the location is the best on the mountain. True ski in and ski out which leads you right to your ski lockers. It’s the only hotel in the area that is truly designed this way - the other hotels down the hill require you to hike up the bunny hill to jump on the lift whereas at the maples, you just throw your skis on and ski to the family lift. We are not beginner skiers but the set up at the hotel would be great for those just learning or those with young kids.

The hotel it self is nice and all that you need. Clean with a small kitchen which was ideal for making breakfast. Staff was also very kind and helpful with questions. We did not dine at the pizza restaurant at the hotel but it looked busy each night. Agreement with Rhythm is a nice touch - we were able to leave our rental skis at the lobby as we checked up for Rhythm to pick up at a later time.

The location in Hirfau is also ideal. Across the street from a grocery store and walking distance to all the top bars and restaurants in the area.

Would recommend to anyone visiting especially those who value the ski in/ ski out without having to take the bus all over town.

The staff are beyond exceptional and nothing is a trouble or burden for them. I arrived with a knee issue and my brother in law left with one. The seen to us and made sure we were comfortable.

When we booked they arranged the lift passes, put us on contact with the ski rental, made sure restaurants stayed open for us, drove us around in -10C weather.

The staff are the happiest group of you people I’ve ever met. Special thanks to Tash, Alfred, Rio

Our room 313 had a semi view of the slope and an amazing view of the mountain. The town itself is clean and filled with good restaurants. It’s a ski town so everything is priced accordingly.

The resort is ski in with lockers in the basement where you can change and store the skies at night - just fantastic.

Then before you leave you can drop your rental at the concierge and it gets returned for you. Just fantastic!!!!

I will go back there.

Oh! We got 20cm of powder every day…

Fabulous ski in/out location, staying in a very spacious studio room that is modern, fully equipped with kitchen & laundry, comfortable king size bed, looking out to Mt Yotei.
Ski lockers are all “in-house” so boots are nice dry & warm for the next day. Good food & beers at Three Trees Cafe within hotel.
Staff always friendly & helpful.

The Maples at Niseko is a superbly run hotel. It’s conveniently located and easy to walk to the gondola/ski lessons/supermarket/cafe and restaurants. In addition they offer a free service to drop and pick up so we never had to walk with our ski gear or of the weather was very cold! Staff is very friendly and go the extra mile to help. The place is run very efficiently and adds it a fun and relaxing holiday. It’s a ski in/ski out facility too. The concierge desk is very helpful with information and bookings and helped with all our requests. Rooms are tidy and well maintained. Will definitely return!

We are just finishing up our stay for the second year in a row at The Maples in Niseko. When we came last year, it had been opened for only a few weeks and didn’t have any restaurants on site. This year, they have both Rokketo and Three Trees Cafe on site - which makes a huge difference......think great coffee onsite every morning before you head off for the slopes! And they also offer hot breakfasts.

The location is amazing. It is truly a ski in/out option. Even the hotels based at the bottom of the slope still need to walk up with gear to the chairlift but from The Maples, you just need to ski down from your apartment basement level where the lockers are located which store all your gear.

Apartment servicing is great. We stayed 5 nights and had full servicing on 2 days. And staff very accommodating to help with clearing bins in between and giving additional amenity supplies in between.

On both stays, we have experienced amazing service from the concierge. On this stay especially which was over NYE period, even though we were booking with late notice, all of our requests were managed and bookings confirmed before we arrived.

It’s a spacious apartment (2 bedroom on 5th floor, with views up the mountain and onto ski slope). Furnishings and appliances are top quality.

We’re already planning return trip this season and will for su4e stay here again.

Hi - am planning a ski trip to Niseko 18 Dec. Is there a cafe or restaurant in Maples?
Answer from Sue O

We stayed at The Maples in early March 2019. As stated in other answers above, there is a restaurant at the Maples. We only had cocktails there so I can't comment on the food. We didn't eat there because there are plenty of restaurants within easy walk of the Maples. There's lots of fabulous choices in Upper and Lower Hirafu (Niseko). Conceirge at The Maples were helpful and there are lots of reviews on Trip Advisor to help make your choice.
