Great comfy lodge/pension, very clean and the staff friendly and warm. Toshisan owns and runs the lodge and gets you up the mountain each morning in his bus absolutely no troble. Close to everything in niseko great place.

The friendliness and hospitality of everyone here is really awesome and we're grateful that we stayed here even for one quick overnight stay. It is kept immaculately clean all the time and the vibe here is very cozy. While it's not at the footsteps of Hirafu, it is conveniently located 3 mins away and where you can find great food choices (and Seicomart) nearby. Plus, bus stop # 2 is right across, so if you need to go to other ski resorts or up the Base Station of Hirafu, you just have to cross the small street and wait for the bus. Toshi was really helpful and we appreciated him helping us get directions and dropping us off / picking us up. We'll be back there soon Toshi!!

It grows on you, but first impressions were a bit dodge. The room was very small, (which is to be expected in Japan), it smelt a bit of fumes from the gas heater and the tiny TV was pointless as it was fixed to the wall in a position you couldn't see from the bed, had only local channels and no inputs to connect your own media. The shared bathroom facilities were also bit open. But everything was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was perfectly adequate to fuel you up for a days skiing or boarding, (though to be honest I have had better breakfasts in other pensions). The hosts and other guests were very friendly and it was relaxed and welcoming. Location was excellent. The thing we liked and appreciated most was Toshi running us up to the gondola each morning as soon as we were ready, even if it was early so we could be first on the slopes.…

I've been traveling to Niseko to ski for over a decade and have always stayed with Toshi and Rie at Woody Note. This is a basic pension in "log cabin" buildings, but what makes me return is the tremendous hospitality of the hosts! Rates haven't changed since I started staying there, you are always remembered, they fall over backwards to accommodate you. Need skis? Toshi can arrange it at much better rates than any of the package providers. Discounted lift passes? Yep. A lift to the chairs when you need it instead of waiting for the awfully crowded shuttle busses? Tick! Need to go to the hospital? Done. Don't waste your money going through any of the tour providers, contact Toshi directly and find out what it's like to be really cared for!

This is a quaint Japanese run hotel with very friendly and hospitable proprietors. The breakfast is nice and typical of small family run Japanese hotels. Rooms are comfortable and not your standard Prince hotel types. The prices are very reasonable. I feel like I am on holiday in Japan here (short of staying in a Ryokan) especially in not very Japanese Niseko. I wish there is a hot bath in the hotel or nearer this hotel. Otherwise full compliments to the proprietors!

This is our fourth year at Niseko and one of the reasons we keep coming back is Woody Note. Our kids wouldn't dream of us staying anywhere else. Toshi and Rie run a wonderful family business and work incredibly hard to make stays here a unique blend of Japanese and western hospitality. It is true pension or B&B style accommodation, with futon mattresses and (spotless) Japanese facilities to match, all in a log cabin atmosphere. A very warm and welcoming place, ideally situated in the heart of Hirafu village just below the Niseko slopes, which we heartily recommend.

Stayed here for 5 days over new year and it more than exceeded expectations. This was our second trip to Hirafu so we already knew the location was perfect for us - situated on one of the quiet streets in the lower village, on the lift shuttle bus route (stops right outside) and a 2-5 min walk to lovely izakayas in the evenings. The standout point was the owner Toshi. He couldn't do enough to help us despite the language barrier, continuously driving us and the other guests around town (to the lift and elsewhere) at a moment's notice. He arranged a lift pass on arrival and old but perfectly adequate ski hire was available just next door from his brother's hotel. Breakfasts were also great. Mrs Toshi is an excellent host. Yes they were a little repetitive but tasty and there was always a good spread. Our room was small but very cosy with the in room heater. The shared bathrooms were kept very clean and we didn't have to ever wait to use them despite the lodge being full. Not luxurious but just what ski holidays should be about - comfy, cosy surrounds in a big log cabin with hospitality and hearty breakfasts on tap. Highly recommended.…

This is superb accommodation run by people who really understand hospitality. It's part of a quirky little combination of lodges that play on the "note" theme including a bar (Half Note) that delivers professional quality live jazz on the weekends. Indeed music is a very important part of the experience - it's not often you discover what looks like a fully equipped recording studio in the basement of your accommodation. Other than that I've nothing else to add beyond what other reviews say. It's just a great place run by great people who really care. Note that in our lodge there were facilities for hot drinks but not meal making facilitates (e.g. a microwave). A (delicious) evening meal is offered once or twice a week and you have to book in advance, otherwise you are on your own. As is the case with many places in Japan, room heating is via oil/paraffin heater that may trouble some who are allergic to the smell. The heater in our room was vented to the outside which reduced the smell greatly.…
