Fabulous place to stay, nestled between the mountains not too far from the little town. One of the owners who greeted us was very nice and couldnt do enough to help us, she even drove us to the nearest restaurant in the evening so that we dont get lost. The accommodation was great, one bad thing was the bathroom that... More

We recently stayed for 8 nights at Borgo San Francesco. We found our hosts to be helpful, receptive and a good source of information, yet at the same time allowing us to be as independent as we wanted. Email enquiries before we went were answered promptly. In retrospect we should have asked for clearer directions. it is difficult to find... More

Borgo San Francesco is a beautful small cluster of 7-8 appartment at a high point of the valley side, and we were stunned by the flowers, the very clean pool, the quietness and clean rooms. The family and few employees are so friendly and we just wanted to stay for another week... unfortunate we only stayed one week first of... More

We stayed two nights here and found it a very relaxing location. Nestled up in the hills with picturesque views, it's an ideal option for those wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of typical Sicilian life. The nearby village is a ten minute drive away and offers a few keenly priced cafes and restaurants. As far as... More

Interesting place, would I recommend it? Possibly. Certainly not a 'paradise'. The best thing? The pool - good size few people using it but only 1 umbrella and the loungers were really uncomfortable. Given this is supposed to be self catering the equipment was pathetic: 1 blunt knife 1 saucepan a knackered frying pan and no wine glasses. It certainly... More

We only stayed one night and wished we'd booked for a week! It may be slightly off the beaten track but is mostly definitely worth the steep drive. In the most peaceful, beautiful location in the hills, all there is to do is relax, read a book and cool down in the pool (which has am amazing view by the... More

I am reluctant to give a good review to this place as we want to keep it to ourselves. Quite simply perfect. If you try to find it on google note that the google camera car didn't go right to the end of the road, it is only a tiny lane but just keep going.

This little residence borgo consists of very comfortable appartments. All have a nice view on the surronding hills. The athosphere is like on a farm in the hills, with animals and beautiful garden and home grown herbs, fruits and vegetables. We also like the situation as you can drive to Gioiosa Marea in less the 10 minutes where you find... More

My husband and I wanted to get away for a few days to just relax and enjoy some family time together with our 11 month old son and Borgo San Francesco was great for this. It was just perfect, wish we would have stayed here longer. Gioiosa Marea is a hidden gem far away from mass tourism, the beautiful seaview from the train station felt like a red carpet. You get a free pick-up (and drop-off) up in the hills where it is situated. I think it's a family company, everyone is so warm and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The 4-star Borgo San Francesco is a newly restored charming residence with a cluster of little villas (once farm houses) and private patios and gardens that have an exclusive feel to them. There is also a pool conveniently situated where the sun always shines and a charming restaurant with floor to ceiling windows that greatly enhance the eating experience during the summer. Our restaurant is committed to making sure you experience the full plethora of Sicilian foods and wine, serving above all, country- style local dishes. We specialize in the essence of traditional, local cuisine using only the freshest products sometimes grown only a few km from the Borgo. While being immersed in this enveloping atmosphere, one is also in close proximity to the charming seaside town of Gioiosa Marea (only 4 km away, of mostly straight roads) and can conveniently visit other areas of Sicily while using our Borgo as a base for planning trips, as well as a calm, serene place to return to. There is also a common room with a fireplace, a reading area with many books and maps on the area and the island on whole and internet point. ... more   less

“We stayed at Melograno room, which was suitable for a grown up couple who does not care for large tv screens but likes own terrasse and great atmosphere. Air con is very quiet and everything is modern and good quality. We did not take pictures of the room but is is nice clean and similar to other hotel rooms.”

“We stayed in Arancia - it's the closest to reception, car park and restaurant - so has the least stairs. However, in the evenings you might hear some voices outside as there are benches for people to sit close by - but there is a quiet time policy in the hotel so they won't be loud till late.”
