I was part of a small group enjoying an overnight safari and game drives. Gabriele and her staff were excellent hosts and the service was everything we could have hoped for and more! The accommodations were clean and comfortable, and the food was excellent. Although we were a bit disappointed with the lack of variety of animals we were able...

We enjoyed lunch here after a morning game drive and were very impressed by the beyond-the-call-of-duty service offered by senior waiter Abdallah, who took us on a guided tour of the hotel, pointed out the monitor lizards basking below and summoned the sea eagles to swoop down on the waterhole with the bread he threw to the fish! Seeing a...

We signed up for a day safari as we felt our 7 year old son might find it too long in a car on a longer safari. We were picked up at our hotel in Diani Beach by Saidi, in his land rover. He was a fantastic guide, very friendly and very eager to please. We drove to Shimba Hills...

Shimba Hills for years and years has been one of my favourite places in Kenya. A small quant tree house lodge hidden away in a tropical forest that's romantic and peaceful. I visited here 3 years ago and was so disappointed and saddened at what I found. All the resident wildlife was gone except for one lonely fish eagle, some...

Checked in on 28/12/2016 for a night. We wanted a bush holiday at the coast. The set-up and ambience is lovely. Great customer service with extremely polite and helpful staff. We were served with delicious fresh meals. Breakfast was a great disappointment though, it lacked variety. The hotel is very clean and we really enjoyed our stay. We would love...

This quirky hotel, located just outside in the national park, is peaceful and relaxing and a lovely place to spend the night. Situated in the forest in front of a waterhole filled with beautiful white lilies there is lots to see: baboons, monitor lizards, antelope, African Fish Eagles, red-bellied coast squirrels, a bush baby who comes for his dinner, and...

This is what Africa is all about--the animals in their native habitat. The tour in a 4-wheel drive van took us from the pier where our ship was docked through towns onto a ferry and into the Shimba Hills National Reserve where we saw a herd of sable, bushbuck, hartebeast, elephants, baboons, fish eagles, and kingfishers. Lunch at the lodge,...

Shimba Hills Lodge is unique. It is a tree house, it appears to be ready to fall down from the outside so the interior is a revelation, comfortable, spacious, very clean and extremely welcoming. Nestled in the Shimba Hills National Reserve, in the heart of an ancient tropical rainforest, the lodge is very well known for being a highlight at every Kenya visit. Built in 1987, the award-winning lodge is the only tree lodge at Kenya's coast. A wooden tree top walkway leads directly from the lodge into the forest. On the platform at the end you may want to sit down, have drink and enjoy nature at a place where nothing can disturb the peace and tranquillity. Staying at the Shimba Hills Lodge offers you the perfect environment to find peace of mind, to feel the "Breath of Life"- especially at dusk when the voices of the rainforest wake up to perform their nocturnal concert!
