Had about five nights here with the associated dive centre. We were making a rapid move north from Borneo due to deteriorating weather and the weather here did not disappoint.

Due to us being in transit some of our emails passed unread and there was a bit of confusion when we arrived about what we were going to be doing, however Petrine worked tirelessly to facilitate our needs and the Boss man Antoine was very accommodating ‘Thankyou’!

The accomodation is spacious and comfortable and a very short walk from a fantastic beach. The bar is welcoming and friendly.

Lastly for divers I can not recommend Pato and Lesley enough as guides. I’ve dived a fair bit now and they are right up there. Koh Lipe and Forra diving is definitely somewhere that will be on my radar in future. Thanks very much for looking after us guys.

I just completed a 10 dive package with Forra Divers and can’t wait to return. Location was perfect for me, right next to my hotel Lipe Beach Resort. Diving conditions weren’t the best but I felt the staff did everything possible to make my adventure pleasurable.

Do not expect air conditioning and luxury toilets. Here you will find simple but functional and comfortable accommodation at a fair price. And the resort is at the quiet end of Pataya Beach. You don't need anything else!

We stayed here for four nights in one of the bamboo huts. It was clean and comfortable, exactly as advertised!
My partner completed his Padi open water with forra over our stay and I completed my advanced course. All the staff at forra were extremely friendly and helpful during every stage of the courses and throughout our stay.
Couldn’t fault forra at all!
Special mention to Andrea who went above and beyond to make our stay and dives special :)
Also want to mention Antoine the owner. He was my instructor for my advanced course and was great in every aspect!
Can’t recommend this company enough both for accommodation and diving!
We will definitely be back soon :)

As a travel writer I was staying on kho lipe to work for an reportage about the turatao archipel from 29th february to 9th march 2012.
In order to write about more than one accomodation I choosed Forra Bamboo Resort with accomodation for 4 days to try something on the sunrise beach.
The "famous" spanish woman mentioned in reviews before, who seems to be the manager, is cleary overstressed with managing the few guests that show up in this season.
When she showed me the bungalow the day before of my moving in she asked a 1 night's deposit in advance (1200 bath) without giving me any receipt.
She precised that on paying by credit card there will be a supplemnt of 5%. Nobody in my previous accomodations asked me a similar thing.
I showed up the next day after a long boat trip in the archiple with my heavy backsack and other belongings.
After a rather long walk along the beach I approached Forra Bamboo and was greeted with a rude shouting "take off your shoes" instead of sending me someone to give me some help with my luggage.
Waiting at the reception, my sandals, firmly in my hands, were losing some sand grains tickling down.
Mercedes threw me a glimpse I should have died instantly.
No ask of passport, no check-in whatsoever.
When I asked for a safe and where to leave my pc with all my work in, she harshly said: "just leave it beneath the counter, but don't forget it this night to take in your bungalow."
So what?
The bungalow at first sight was ok, but the staircase leading down to what they call picturesquely "open bath" was seriously damaged and not sure.
No toilet paper, and Mercede's only concern was "Don't throw anything into the toilet",
I wouldnìt call it a toilet but just a fake where you have to throw down your excrements by hand with cups of water taking the water from a nearby bassin.
There is electricity and also two ventilators, but once in the bed with a stonehard matress under the mosquito net with a lot of holes you can't reach the lightning device in case you have an urgent need to climb out of bed or down to what they call ...toilet.
Needless to say: the bungalow can't be locked from inside.
In addition it was raining that night and in the morning I woke up completely soaked not by sweat as I first thought but by the rain that had come inside acroos the roof.
I had spent the evening before in the bar-restaurant lured by a gorgeous play list of chill out music.
And that was it!
While handsome diving instructors (it seems they are permanently accomodated in Forra Bamboo) were flirting with pretty young french girls whose slightly arrogant attitude matched perfectly with the well known upperclass parisian accent, Mercedes and other insiders were smoking their joints instead of caring for the few hosts.
I don't want to be misunderstood: I personally don't smoke, but don't deny at all the smell of cannabis.
Doing it openly in this corner of Southern Thailand, were drugs more than in other places are not tolerated, seems for me to be a challenge on purpose by the french owners of Forra Bamboo, who clearly forget, that although doing business, they are still hosts in this country.
Finally I had managed to order something to eat, adressing three or four times several of the pretty young french girls, because it was not clear whose roll was that of the waitress.
But only when I recognized that even basic english was not their thing and I switched to french, however without parisian accent, somebody took my order
I was brought the starter and main course at the same time, without apologizing for this inconvenience and any napkin.
After a sleepness night the next morning I simply rushed off from this awful place.
Before writing this review I realized that I had left the battery charger of my i- phone and turned back to the ressort.
What did I see?
Handsome french divers flirting with pretty french girls, Mercedes smoking a joint and playing backgammon.
She didn't even greet me.
I wonder if I you should translate this review in french.

I am not a fan of writing reviews about places that tend to fail on delivering good products/ services however this one in particular bothered me and my friend to the point of leaving after spending one night in their so called old charming bamboo bungalows.

We did not plan at all where to stay so the day before our trip we saw that this was located at sunrise beach and on top it was a diving place which with our experience through asia divers tend to be very friendly and good environment and we were interestsed to do so and we thought it was ideal. Then, we called and tried to reserve the french guy said there was availability but probably he was so high that he was even forgetting to take our names so all started to look very cheeky , we requested a bungalow by the beach and he said it was available the bungalow number 2. We arrived and there was this french girl called laurain or whatever her name is and took us to our bungalow which was not the one promised. She is extremely unfriendly, feel sorry for her cause working in the service industry doesn't look to please her at all - she is rude and makes you feel unwelcome. At night we gave the bar a chance and she took our order, didn't even talk to us , try to take our plates away and when she went on her way to the kitchen gave the left overs to another guy sitting on the dive masters table!!! She was a disaster!

In brief terrible bed, not even toilet paper, extremely dirty, not safe plenty of mosquitos and broken bamboo bungalow that the windows wouldn't close properly nor the door - we could not even use the hammock as it was broken from where it was installed. They charge 1400 baht where next door you find something better same concept but at least you dont feel is a rip off.

We wanted to dive with them but felt completely disappointed, go to Koh lipe divers! Better and more professional equipment and staff

We felt the same as other reviews have expressed, the staff there their only concern is to get high all day.

You can be a laid back place but dont charge that for crap and on top give me an attitude!!!!!!!

Go somehere else book in advance and avoid the forra divers!

We planed to stay in Koh Lipe for only 2-3 days, but the Forra Resort was so nice, that we finally staid for 8 days. The bungalows are clean and offer everything you need. They may not have an aircondition, but that's not necessary cause there is refreshing cool air in the evening. The team are very experienced divers, who can show you awesome diving sides. They speak fluentlly English, French and Spanish.

In a nutshell: I can highly recommend them! =)

I came to kohlipe with a few friends and stayed in mountain resort for the 1st 2 nights. Another friend and i decided to extend our stay to do some diving in the island so we sent a couple of e-mails to a few dive centres to enquire about the price, accomodation, etc. I had my eyes on a few dive centres with good reviews and I believe Forra has the cheapest price. Antoine (the manager i believe) and i exchanged a couple of e-mails and he had been very helpful and quick in reply. We had trouble locating the dive centre at first and at one point he even offered to pick us up at mountain resort using longtail to their dive centre. We found out later that it was within walking distance so we walked instead.

The price was reasonable. It was low season when i went so there's free bungalow provided on the day we dive with them. The condition of the bungalow was not too bad considering. There was no safe in the bungalow to put our valuable belongings but Lukas was nice enough to keep them in his safe for us. There's just lots of mosquitoes so a mosquito repellant is really necessary. They have a bed net installed in the bungalow though.

The dives with them are awesome. We dive with Gianni most of the time and went once with Lukas. They're both very kind and friendly, and very professional when it comes to diving. We just got our open water not long ago so we still struggled a little with our buoyancy control, both Lukas and Gianni took their time to identify our mistakes and patiently explained to us. Overall, it's been a very good experience and i would say if i were to come to kohlipe again, i would definitely dive with them.

p/s: I've read some review on how they asked for deposit without receipt. Maybe it's the different manager but I was not asked of anything when i moved from mountain resort to the bungalow they provide. No passport, no deposit. I also took some breakfast and dinner with them. It was only when I asked for the bill the night before i left that Lukas brought out a file and we settled the bill then.
