We were feeling warm welcome by the staffs. There was my birthday on the arrival date. There was a bell boy came and pick us up. Once we got into DuDu motorbike, the bell boy straight wish me Happy Birthday and during upon check in, the reception kakak wish as well. During evening time, we approached to reception and book for our snorkeling trip, the receptionist gave me the same birthday wish, seem like the whole hotel staffs recognized the guest's special day.
After we came back from dinner, we found that a rainbow layer cake, some cut fruits and juices placed in the fridge, there was the birthday arrangement by the hotel, feeling surprised and warm.
The room was spacious and clean, the bed fluffy and comfort. There is only one negative which is the soundproof in the room is poor, always disturb by walking, moving things by housekeeping or even motorbike.

RICCI house resorts. Ko lipe - really nice rooms, really modern. But bed was really hard. Nice breakfast, helpful staff, not too far from walking street where you find all the shops, restaurants and bars. No haggling here, everyone seems to have a set price. Down on Pattaya beach is a very nice steak house that does really nice coffee. Beaches are beautiful as is the sunset, lovely island to visit.

My husband and I stayed at Ricci House for four nights in March and cannot recommend this hotel enough. We were really pleased when we checked in and were greeted with ice cold drinks and the staff rallied round to put fans on us in an attempt to combat the extreme heat. They then took all our documents and allowed us to sit, relax and cool down whilst they checked us in. The room was lovely as were the gardens around it, my only criticism would be the lack of wardrobe to hang clothes or a hair dryer, but certainly not the end of the world. The air con was superb and cooled the room really quickly, but could be set at varying temperatures so that it wasn't uncomfortable in the night. The location was perfect as personally I preferred Sunrise Beach during the day for sunbathing and Pattaya beach at night, this hotel is between the two so you get the best of both worlds. Plus it was within a few feet of the top of Walking Street, so lovely to have a stroll to the shops and bars both during the day and night, without a long trek over sand or off the beaten track, which is common in Lipe! We did have a look at Sita Beach and a couple of others which were more expensive but had pools, even after doing this we were very happy with our choice as it was a better location and gave much better value for money. Who needs a pool when the sea is so beautiful?

The rooms were kept exceptionally clean, one day when we returned early the cleaner was still at work having stripped the bed and pulled it away from the wall to properly clean behind. This was not the sort of hotel which did a quick wipe round and make the bed.

But the main reason for such praise is the staff. They could not do enough for you. During our stay my husband and I would enjoy a drink whilst getting ready and would order these on the way back to the room, after a couple of nights the staff would pre empt this on our return, remembering our order and asking when we wanted the drinks serving. But the icing on the cake was an incident we had after we left. Having been a little worse for wear on the day of check out and needing to head off for a ferry, we did our usual room check, paid our bill and headed off forgetting we had left my purse and our passports in the hotel safe at reception. At the point we remembered we were 40 minutes into the first leg of our ferry ride which was still over two hours from land meaning no phone signal. We were really worried as we were finishing our trip with two nights in Phuket before flying back to the UK. It would have been too late to get off at the first stop as we would have missed the boat coming in the other direction and we didn't have time to head back the next day and still make our flight. As soon as we neared land we rang Ricci House and Kim instantly understood the problem and told us not to worry. She phoned our hotel in Phuket to explain the situation and why we would not have passports at check in and then proceeded to arrange transport for our belongings on the boat the following day. The journey from Koh Lipe to Phuket is long and involves changing boats four times, so we were doubtful the passports would make it. However, when we got to Phuket we checked our e-mails and Kim had sent us confirmation that she had arranged this with Tigerline Ferries and even given us the name and telephone number of the ferry Manager in Phuket who would be meeting us the next day , Kim told us to relax, enjoy the beach and the rest of our holiday and she would sort this for us. Her helpful nature was a stark contrast to the reception staff at the hotel we had moved to who offered us no assistance whatsoever. We went to Chalong Pier the following day and were met by a man from Tigerline ferries who handed us a package still parcelled up the way we had left it. This act was typical of the staff at Ricci House who genuinely seemed to care about their customers.

In terms of Koh Lipe itself, I would also recommend eating at a place on Walking Street which I think was called Papaya Moms, the food was lovely and really quite cheap. We tried the BBQ at Zanom Sunrise which a few people have mentioned and were not overly impressed. I had red snapper which was ok but my husband had lobster which was over cooked and really tough. Pattaya beach is really relaxing at night with cushions and candles outside the bars creating an incredibly chilled out atmosphere. We drank in a bar on Walking Street a couple of nights which kept serving until people went home, as a result it always seemed open later than the rest. I don't remember it having a sign but was known as Jordie's bar and did very good mojitos. Quite a few of the staff or dive masters also drank in there so it was good for a laugh. They were trying to drag us to a party on our last night, which probably explained the hungover forgetting of passports, I need to find some excuse for such a faux pas! There is also a very good massage place on Walking Street next door to Blow Bar and opposite the restaurant I think was called Papaya Mom's, again I can't remember the name, but after a foot scrub our feet were like that of a baby.

We hope to return to Koh Lipe and will definitely stay at Ricci House, we have already recommended it to some friends, which is testament to how highly I regarded this hotel as there is no greater fear than recommending a poor hotel to people you care about, that is the confidence I have in this choice. If you are reading this review and decide to stay at Ricci House I hope Kim is still working there and you can experience the best hospitality we have experienced in any of our trips to Thailand.

Quite pricey for 2-night stay here admittedly cause it's peak season. The
room is soo basic and huge wooden block as frame which the queen size mattress was placed on, is a waste of space and took up loads is room. The extra single bed is more like a bench without any mattress cover and not comfy to sleep on.

Shower room also very basic, no shower curtain with a small sink. Shampoo & Shower (Water) gel sooo diluted with water!! Guess they want it to last longer. Breakfast spread minimal with enough variety.

Too expensive (~£126) for a place with no amenities, no security (anyone can walk in and door locks are the old school door knob you can pry with a paper clip/bobby pin), and good only for sleep and nothing else.

Only saving grace - it's just minutes walk to the walking street and 10 minutes to the Andaman Beach.

Can be bothered to take any photos, nothing worth taking.

This is the biggest mistake of my life when booking the hotel.

1. I do not recommend taking any food in their restaurant. Appeal to the doctor guaranteed. Therefore, the restaurant they always empty. Breakfast is included, but it is better not to take a very bad and poor.
2. Sulphurous water in the room and the smell is the result of disease-causing bacteria. Mold in the corners of the bathroom.
3. Use of a material for the construction of tree using adhesive. This phenol hazardous fumes. Look at the photo on the website Tripadvisor. A plywood can be used only for work outside the building.
4. Water in the rooms often rancid.
5. For wooden walls live mice, carriers of different diseases.
6. Evening, a lot of mosquitoes. Near a big pit with foul water.
7. Dust from the road. When the rain - mud.
8. Behind the hotel is a garbage dump (see photo on Tripadvisor). In the evening, the locals burn garbage. Smoke and stink.
9. To the beach to walk 10 minutes in the hot sun.
10. You can not sleep well because you hear snoring neighbor through the thin plywood wall.
11. Near doing construction work, it is very noisy.

This is just about health. Who are interested, I will answer any questions. I do not recommend this hotel.

It's very sad .... This hotel I will remember for a lifetime ...... We booked a bungalow in the hotel where the bed is located on the floor. At night my foot down on the floor, I was sleeping and did not feel it. Suddenly a terrible pain made me wake up. I turned on the light and saw a trace of bite on the finger of my legs, blood. I was very scared and I thought it was a snake, but looked bitten place and realized that it was a mouse. We have not turned to the doctor and did not tell the hotel staff. Wash the wound and treated with alcohol. Returned home and saw that my finger was swollen and reddened, then we came to the clinic, where we were told that become infected and will be long-term treatment. I am very afraid that the infection can go on, I'm afraid. Be careful on vacation, at night a lot of dangerous rodents. I think the hotel management should be more closely and more often to do maintenance work for the removal of rodents and insects.

It is a pity that you can not put the estimate below, I would put the -10!
It's just awful! In January, we booked two rooms, we are a young couple and our parents.
The hotel we were offered adjoining rooms through a thin wall so that you can talk through it as if it is not. The first thing we saw was a small room with a low ceiling, upholstered wood. Its main attraction - this tip box. Never anywhere in the room I had ever seen, and the service is paid upon booking and 10%! They overlook the end of the restaurant, and he himself is a restaurant on the road where a lot of various transport passes. Across the road on the building against a great hotel that is creating a buzz. Not far away is a rectangular pit filled with stagnant rainwater, a wonderful breeding ground for mosquitoes. Here begin the homes of local residents. Behind the houses with garbage dumps, which is not taken, and regularly burned. The nearest beach is 5 minutes walk.
What do we see there? Right roots of fallen trees and boats on shore, left the boat but also more. There is a nice beach, it starts from the hotel Mountin Resort and continues to the far boundary Andaman Resort. On Pattaya beach boats all scored. I read praise about this hotel and I can not understand what people like so could in Ricci House? I was particularly struck review where staged rating 4, May 25, 2011, boxedup. People just kicked out of the hotel for 2 days, to populate a large group. Lord of London, you understand that the owners of the hotel you have wiped your feet and spit in your face? You gratefully crawled back when you were allowed to kiss the hands of long and for what you are allowed!
How was it possible to put such high praise for such humiliation?!!
We did not stay in this hotel. Yes, we lost not a little money on it. I must say the hotel is very overcharging. Koh Lipe hotels have better and cheaper. If you do not want problems, never book your Ricci House, the money in any case they will not be returned!

Do not stay at this resort - you will not want to eat at the restaurant! Food poisoning aside, the food was overpriced & flavourless, the service was appalling, and when we requested to see a manager or at least someone who was in charge they simply grunted at us saying that this was not possible.

My travel partner and I were in Koh Lipe for a week over Christmas 2012, we always split and share our dishes in whatever restaurants we go to, so in the run up to Christmas Day we had been eating exactly the same food. Then came Christmas Day when we regrettably decided to have lunch at Ricci House, we should have been put off by the shoddy menu but sadly we did order seafood Spring rolls, a Green curry and a Larb Gai.

After 20 minutes the spring rolls came out and I took a large bite out of one, to my horror the shrimp inside was freezing cold. I immediately discarded the remnants of uncooked seafood from my mouth, and looked for a waiter to call over in order to send the spring rolls back to the kitchen. When I eventually located a waiter loitering on the other end of the restaurant floor, I asked politely if I could send the spring rolls back to the kitchen, he shrugged and grabbed the plate off me and without saying a word he strolled lazily towards the kitchen.

We didn't see the spring rolls again for another 15 minutes but when they did arrive they'd simply been thrown back in the fryer giving the roll an extra layer of grease, alas the shrimp was still partially uncooked.

Now you may be thinking; 'but surely neither you actually ate the pathetic attempt the chef made at producing a simple spring roll?' We no well didn't, this was simply the prelude, the warning light, the preamble for a culinary catastrophe. 'What next?!' you ask...

40 minutes after ordering the green curry arrived, first impressions didn't meet our aesthetic expectations of a green curry - it looked as if they'd tipped a packet of cheap diced frozen veg into the sauce without any regard for presentation whatsoever. A few minutes later the Larb Gai(which was below average but at least edible) arrived, for the first time in weeks I ate the whole dish to myself (which was below average but at least edible) to myself leaving the green curry for my travel companion. A little selfish I know, but little did I know that half of the diabolical green curry that my travel companion managed to work her way through (we were very hungry having not eaten all morning) gave her weeks of undue and excessive discomfort.

Subsequently, we went back to sharing dishes as before, and we enjoyed a delicious christmas dinner of authentic and tasty thai food at Papaya Mom on the walking street.

Hell begun the following day as we travelled by boat to mainland and then by bus, boat and taxi to our next stop, Koh Phangan. The vomiting, the fever and the stomach cramps lasted for days, she became very weak and struggled to hold down sips of cold mineral water. When the initial symptoms subsided an intermittent barrage of stomach pains and fever resided for the remaining month of our trip. Whether it is Salmonella from the coconut, E coli from contamination while cooking or Listeria from storing the coconut milk at a high level of humidity and temperature is still yet to be revealed by my travel buddys doctor in England, but the fact that the green curry made her very very ill still remains, and it is for this reason I urge you to steer well clear of Ricci house.

I've travelled to Thailand many times, eaten in numerous Thai restaurants and devoured more green curries than I care to remember so it's not like i don't have any basis for comparison. This is my by far the worst restaurant experience i've ever had and that is not said lightly. I would say I wish I somehow had the power to bring your excuse of a restaurant to the ground, but with the feeble way you run a restaurant I'm sure this will occur naturally. Instead my review aims to deter anyone with an ounce of sense from eating here, avoid this absolute disgrace of a resort unless you fancy experiencing weeks of pain and suffering.

My wife and I booked ahead to Ricci house...had 2 confirmation emails telling us they would meet us on the beach. On the ferry ride there we met a large Russian family..they had 1 room confirmed at Ricci but needed an extra...when we arrived..the ATV came and picked up the Russian family...we thought that odd...when we arrived at the desk we were told they no longer had a room for us and booked us in a nearby hotel that was not even similar to theirs. We ended up moving after having paid for 1 night...we did not even stay it was so bad...Varin Beach Resort...ugh.

Anyway...be very careful...the place we stayed said Ricci does this often enough.

I travel on my own, not booking hotels in advance and look at the place. I would be happy if my review will be useful for the same travelers like me, and others too.
What I did not like. Bad location, the hotel with no view of the sea. Is located in a noisy place, next comes construction, road runs along the hotel where a lot of moving vehicles. A little ahead, I noticed a large pond with rotten water, as it turned out that the reason for the evening mosquitoes. Locals night harness trash behind their homes and the streets have no lighting other than central. The hotel has a terrible sound insulation, because the rooms are thin plywood partition. The hotel grounds and a small restaurant located near the road. Hotel managers save on everything, even water can not be changed after the previous tenants. Employees of the hotel are very fond of the tips they do not deserve. I do not recommend this hotel, it is not worthy of the money that he asked for.
