At Castaway Resort the spirit of ‘The Beach’ is brought to life. Amid the beautiful setting nature has given Koh Lipe, our spacious wooden bungalows and large chill out deck overlooking the beach definitely make Castaway the most atmospheric of Koh Lipe’s resorts.

Our stay at Castaway Resort Koh Lipe was truly unforgettable! We’ve stayed here several times already, and it never disappoints. The resort offers the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, with stunning views of Sunrise Beach and a peaceful atmosphere. The staff are incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, especially for our little one. The resort is very family-friendly, with toys to keep kids entertained and a beautiful beach just steps away for building sandcastles.

The facilities, including daily yoga sessions and relaxing massages, provided the perfect way to unwind. The food was delicious, and we particularly loved the jhok for breakfast—my son couldn’t get enough of it! They truly have everything you need, and the location is conveniently within walking distance of Walking Street.

If you’re looking for the perfect family getaway, this resort is a must-visit. Thank you for another warm and wonderful stay. We can’t wait to return and create more beautiful memories!

Castaway was a nice stay on Koh Lipe. The rooms are eco friendly and very quaint. The staff was nice but didn’t speak much if any Thai and we didn’t need to interact much except ordering dinner.

The dining area is so beautiful and nice at night when temps cool and the wind blows off the water. You can get really amazing sunrises.

Just fyi, we preferred another dive shop for scuba or snorkeling gear as opposed to the one attached, as the people and gear there weren’t great. Also be aware on the island in general about the boat traffic and motors running at times. Not a big deal for us but it is part of the experience.

An incredible and sustainable resort right on the beach. With wooden duplex, ours with views of the sea, the sunrise beach. The cabins and the hotel follow sustainability policies and have values of integration and respect for the environment. The breakfast is spectacular, the staff is super friendly and they have a diving center and rental of snorkeling equipment, kayaks, bicycles... you are just a step away from the main streets of the island. It is the perfect place to disconnect from the routine and connect with nature in a paradisiacal environment.

It even has a cafeteria-bookstore, yoga classes and a massage center (spa).

We will, without a doubt, return to stay here when we return, because we will return to this island paradise.

Please read carefully.
Everything indicated that it would not be a good experience. After our arrival on the island, most of the hotels provide transportation service and help passengers carry their luggage to the hotel. Almost the only ones who were forced to carry everything across the beach were us. 35°C, 3 bothersome and in sand.

Upon our arrival at the hotel, it presented a horrible entrance, with half-finished buildings, full of garbage and dirt, for the rest we just wanted something cold and air conditioning after moving the suitcases.

The facilities, very rustic. They do not have air conditioning, old plugs, half-finished cabins. NO AIR CONDITIONING, just a ventilator that could fall at any time. I sum it up by saying that it was hotter inside the cabin than outside.
There is NO minibar to keep water cold, don't even think about a thermos to boil water or shampoo. Don't even think about the hotel giving you complimentary water, that is considered a luxury by the owner

I warn and make the mea culpa. The absence of A/C is mentioned on the website, but for 125 US per night in high season, I thought it would be different.

I couldn't last even 30 minutes and without caring about the non-refund clause, I went to the Mali Sunrise Beach hotel next door. For 180 US per night, they offer you a private suite with air conditioning, thermopane windows for acoustic and thermal insulation, complimentary water and breakfast included.

I spent some days at this place. I booked a bungalow with garden views but still managed to sea a little bit of the sea since it was on the second line. It was pretty basic but clean. I liked how cozy it was, also the bed and pillows were comfy. I disliked how hot it was inside, there's a fan on the ceiling but it was very slow and I could barely feel the air, so after requesting it I got a standing fan which made such a difference. There is NO fan downstairs where the bathroom is located.
They should get rid of the towels and bedsheets, they are so old and even though they had been washed they just didn't smell good, because it is time to change them. Bedsheets also were hard and had some permanent stains on them.
Location in Sunrise Beach was good. WiFi was nonexistent, in case you need it, don't count on it. There is a very cool restaurant with several sitting areas. During my stay they did not serve food (low season) but we could bring it from outside and eat it there. No chance to refill my bottle of water at the resort and if you buy it there it's very expensive, so it's better if you buy it at the 7/11.
The member of the staff who I dealt with during my stay, Nut, was very helpful and attentive and he always had a smile. I have to clarify that I went during the low season, right beginning of July when the island reopened after the Covid. Therefore, I had a good deal and I'm satisfied with what I paid. But I wouldn't book this place in high season and I wouldn't recommend it either since prices are way too high for what you get. (I live in Thailand and I checked them a few times plus I was in Koh Lipe a few months ago).
Lastly, there's also a small diving shop but the guy who works there (not sure if he was the manager) let's say he was not very welcoming. Despite being a diver I decided not to dive with Castaway Resort. I would recommend Ko Lipe Diving School instead.

A great stay from A-Z! Very friendly, helpful and well trained staff, extremely stylish and well furnished houses, beautiful location on the beach, very good food. There is the possibility to rent kayaks and snorkelling equipment. Furthermore, the whole hotel is trimmed to sustainability: The materials used in construction, the waste management, in the restaurant there is no fish from the national park, the rooms have neither air conditioning, nor hot water, nor a refrigerator - all of which is not necessary at all despite (or because of) the warm climate, because the houses are in the shade of the many trees and are pleasantly cooled by the wind (and the fan).

Castaway has that picturesque feeling about itself. We are superhappy with the accommodation, service and nice food.

We had a 4 person bungalow with 2 rooms in the garden. Nice and clean with a balcony on the upper floor. Fans and Mosquito net in the rooms above the beds. Nice and spacious shower/toilet.
No air condition but that was stated in the information before we booked. The fans make it tolerable.

The staff was very kind and service minded and when sitting in the lounge/restaurant they noticed you right away and brought menus, took your orders fast and always checked if you wanted to order anything more. Food was good!

We can really recommend this place, it's placed couple of meters from the ocean on Sunset Beach.

The massage was also very good and you can borrow beach towels for the beach for free.

One thing we can complain about is the castaway diving center, the dive manager was an extremely rude obnoxious white male in his middle ages with bald head. The other staff in the dive center was really nice, but he ruines it for all, a bully who likes to talk down to people, we won't ever book a diving trip there again as long he is present.

Other than that, we loved castaway away beach resort with its friendly atmosphere and personnel.

My stay at this hotel on the island was a delightful experience. The tropical atmosphere and seaside location created a truly paradisiacal environment. The staff was welcoming, the facilities were clean and comfortable, and the proximity to the beach made every moment memorable. Great value for money for those looking for a getaway by the sea.

Exceeded our expectations!
We researched thoroughly and knew what to expect with Castaway (the people who leave poor reviews don’t seem to have done the same).

Our beachfront bungalow had enough foliage and screening to make it private but was only a stones throw from the restaurant/bar and right on the beach. We climbed out of bed and took ten steps into the sea to watch the sun rise from in the water!

The staff have been the highlight- attentive, but not overbearing and always smiling and happy to help. They even set up a romantic dinner for us for our anniversary which was perfect.

The food at the restaurant was delicious, priced well and fresh and tasty. We made the most of happy hour 4-6 every day! Great coffee and Thai iced tea and the banana pancakes!!

The staff at the dive shop were lovely and always smiling

The no air con was ok for us as we were on the front with the breeze. The no hot water was not an issue at all… always enjoyed a cool shower to cool down! Take ear plugs for the long tail boats during rush hour! These were not a problem at night and all we could hear was the sea.

On the whole we recommend Castaway if you want a laid back, comfortable, charmingly rustic, eco friendly slice of paradise!

Thank you to all the Castaway staff!

The long tail boats are a necessity of life on Koh Lipe....everything is brought on to the Island. December will be high season so height if activity I would have thought.
