We were on our way late afternoon and had to turn around and return home urgently and notified them far too late. They were kind enough not to charge us and they were within their legal rights to do so. A pleasant surprise . We are definitely booking with them when we return to Tanabe The people at booking dot... More

This place is about 5 minutes walk from the train station which makes it easy access for people doing the Kumano kodo walk. The rooms are clean and simple and the beds very comfortable. The corridors ouside look a bit dated and in need of attention but the rooms themselves are fine. Lots of restaurants nearby and an easy walk... More

Hotel Hanaya was exactly what we expected, located very conveniently for the station and the restaurant quarter, the rooms were clean and functional and good value for money. We had excellent breakfasts (Japanese and Western) and the only regret was they didn't open for lunch or dinner.

This hotel was a stopover at the start of the Kumano Kodo. It was close to the train station, on edge of the restaurant area and cheap. What a gem of a breakfast room. It was full of cowboy memorabilia and the breakfast was delicious. John Wayne was there and Buffalo Bill, along with a whole lot of cattle.

We booked a last-minute trip to Japan, and this hotel was our best option to make the early morning bus to the start of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route. We arrived at night and left in the early morning. The hotel is probably 5 minutes from the station, and the rooms were clean but very basic (somewhat like a hostel).... More

Its old but clean and comfortable. Our room was booked through the Kumano Kodo Tourism website and cost about 11,000 yen. It was about 13 sq metres in size (bigger than suggested on Agoda). The beds were "Japanese" hard but very clean. The bathroom is tiny but functioned really well. The hotel is only a 5 min walk from the... More

I chose this hotel because of its location (less than 5 minutes walk from the station), and also because of the price. The hotel is a little old, but the rooms are all very clean. Amenities (shampoo, conditioner, body soap) were very good. The lady at the reception was not too friendly at first, but once we talked more she... More
