The staff who guided me through check-in was very friendly, so I felt very comfortable from the beginning. The antique room was more charming and stylish than expected. Amenities were carefully prepared according to gender and age, and cleaning was also perfect. The open-air hot spring was better than it looked in the picture, and milk, coffee milk, bottled water, and towels were well prepared so I could use it comfortably. I remember not being able to enjoy kaiseki cuisine at other ryokans in the past because I am not good at eating raw or fishy food. However, I really enjoyed Nihon Noashitaba's kaiseki cuisine. In particular, the kids menu prepared for my 9-year-old child was so delicious and plentiful that my child ate two bowls of rice. The staff, who eagerly explained things in Korean, such as “This is horse mackerel, this is eel,” etc., each time they served us a dish, were very attentive and very kind throughout the meal. The hardware is great, but all the staff I met at Nihon Noashitaba were really friendly and warm, which made my trip even more enjoyable. If I go to Yufuin, I will definitely stay at Nihon Noashitaba again.

We stayed at the Toda residence for one night. The food was so delicious that we couldn't finish it all. The baths in the room had been renovated and there were two baths, an indoor bath and an open-air bath.
The Toda residence also has a tea room, so if you bring matcha, a tea whisk, and a tea cloth, you can make tea. There was one matcha bowl for summer and one for winter, as well as a water jar and a tea caddy. There is a kiln, but it is old, so we used a pot of water.
Of the 13 buildings, it is close to the front desk and the dining area, so it is also good for people who don't like walking on mountain paths 😊
There was a large open-air bath, a Showa-no-Yumeguri bath, and a bamboo forest open-air bath, but my husband was quite satisfied with the two baths in the room.
Hot spring boiled eggs, bottled water, milk, and coffee milk are available at each Showa-no-Yumeguri bath and can be enjoyed freely.
The Toda residence had two beds in the Western-style room and two futons in the Japanese-style room. There were three washbasins and two toilets.
The layout of the house was two Japanese-style rooms on the first floor, a living room, a tea room, a dressing room, a Western-style room on the mezzanine, and a Japanese-style room on the second floor above the bath.
Each room had floor heating, so it was comfortable even in winter. Amenities included wooden toothbrushes and combs. Toner, cleansing, and face packs were all from MIKIMOTO.
Hand soap was from Laura Ashley, and the hair dryer was from Dyson. The body soap and shampoo in the bathroom were all from MIKIMOTO.
The stay was surrounded by carefully selected furnishings, including plates that looked like Royal Copenhagen, tea utensils, and lamps that looked like Galle, so those with mischievous children may be concerned. Also, there are many trees and it's in the mountains, so I think there will be bugs in the summer.
The house was spacious, so we were able to relax and it was a wonderful stay that will be remembered forever.
Although it was before the February 2024 holidays, there were many foreigners, and all 13 buildings were fully booked.

This is our third stay at this cozy and tranquil onsen resort as our first time was over twenty years ago, this place has maintained its beauty and zen and the rooms are well maintained. Staff is very friendly as usual and we were served by a young lady from Hiroshima at the dinner place and her service was attentive and super polite as other staff. The food is excellent. The only area for improvement maybe the shower in our room (雪行廊) was a bit weak and water may not be sufficiently hot (only warm), and that WiFi coverage in the resort can be better. Other than that we had a great time as usual and tried the 8 public onsens along with the onsen in room. We will be back as it is always a great and peaceful experience here!
