Detailed Reviews
We really enjoyed our time at the Westin Trillium House, and would definitely come back again. The hotel was nice and clean. The staff said hello as they passed you in the halls, and there were lots of guests with dogs around, which was a big positive for us (very dog friendly). We upgraded to a two bedroom suite (527) for our stay, and it was an amazing room. There was a full kitchen stocked with dishware, glassware, cutlery, pots, pans, dish soap, a dishwasher, full size refrigerator, oven, microwave, singe serve coffee machine, etc. The living room is two stories with large windows and a balcony overlooking the mountain. It has a 6 person dinning table with chairs, a seating area with TV, couch, and two chairs, as well as a gas fireplace. There were two 3-piece bathrooms (one off the main bedroom, and the other connects to the living room and 2nd bedroom). The main bedroom is large with a king bed, the 2nd bedroom was a smaller with a queen or double bed and connected to the balcony. There are large screen TVs in both bedrooms and the living room.
The O&B restaurant in the hotel is good. We felt the quality of food for the cost was much better than some of the restaurants in the village. Restaurants in the village are expensive and some are better than others. We dined at the O&B on the last night and wished we had been able to go there more, but there was a staff shortage during our stay that dramatically limited the number of tables they could use at a time. Still a very good experience though.
In order to get to the village of Blue Mountain you only need to walk around the pond, and it's small, so it only takes a few minutes. Exploring the shops and restaurants in the village is why you're there in the summer, and was fun. In the evenings there were concerts in the square and we really enjoyed it.

We stayed in a village facing three bedroom suite for a weekend in December with 6 adults and two kids. The room was an excellent size for our large family, the beds were comfy and we had no issues with noise from the village. The view of the lights and ski hill was beautiful. We booked this suite for the use of the full kitchen. Unfortunately it was not well equipped (for example it did not have a basic baking sheet for use of the oven). We called down to the front desk but were informed that on a very busy Friday evening they were unable to assist us. We also found that the standard hotel room single serve coffee maker to be an issue in a suite of that size and we were constantly going down to the front desk for more coffee supplies (a full coffee pot in the suites would make more sense). Overall we enjoyed our stay and didn’t mind the very minor issues we encountered.

We stayed here for 2 nights, Beautiful lobby. Room was spacious and clean, bed very comfortable. Great bed. Prices at most of the restaurants pretty high but the village market has all sorts of groceries available and the small kitchenette is useful. Very good, careful room service by Ms. C. Kaur. Enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

We booked a 1BR suite at the Westin for the Saturday night of the August long weekend. We arrived around 11am and checked in. After getting lunch in the Village we came back to the hotel to change into swim wear to spend the afternoon by the pool. When we got to down to the pool there was a sign stating it was at capacity and no one else was allowed in to use it. It was 1pm. After paying $825/night for a suite the last thing we expected was to be denied access to the pool! We could see the pool was filled with kids yelling and splashing about with adults sitting on lounge chairs just watching. We had been denied pool deck access because of the number of young kids already in the pool "safety count". The capacity issue didn't change for the entire afternoon.
I can state we would NEVER have booked this suite and paid this amount of money per night if we had known access to the outdoor pool would be restricted. I went to the front desk to inquire what could be done as many of these families with multiple kids had been at the pool since the morning. I was told to go check if PLUNGE had space instead-??. This is ridiculous considering our issue was with how many kids were in the Westin pool and Plunge is a children's pool facility.
The other big issue for us was the poor air conditioning in the suite. It would turn off when we left the room and the temp would increase to about 26c or 27c. The AC unit was barely working and the room temp wouldn't drop below 25c. Turning it on higest fan didnt change the cold air output much and there was no vent in the separate bedroom so we had a very warm night with poor air circulation. There was also limited AC in the gym.
Overall a very poor exprience for us and I am a platinum Marriott owner and use the Bonvoy membership booking service regularly.
We won't be back!
Sincerely
Andrea W

Stayed in a deluxe room which looked exactly like on the hotel/Marriott site. Room was comfortable. Bed was good. Mattress not hard not soft. Blankets were comfortable and not hot. Room air conditioner wasn't too loud.
Couch could convert into a bed which wasn't advertised. Though the couch cushions themselves had no density as when sitting down I fell all the way through.
Sink, microwave and mini fridge in the room. Included plates and utensils which were great to have when bringing back restaurant take out to eat in the room. Coffee maker wasn't great as the coffee pods were too large for the small machine. Coffee maker also wasn't clean as a past room guest must've made instant noodles in it as my coffee came out oily and smelling like noodles.
Bathroom was a normal bathroom. Shower itself was good with waterfall option, strong pressure and quick to heat. Toiletries were the Westin "Heavenly" brand which came in bulk refillable bottles and easy to use.
Outdoor pool required reservations which was easy enough to do. Gym didn't have that many machines or weights. Actually the pool and gym were rather small considering the number of rooms at this hotel.
Parking is available underground with limited spaces and $20 + taxes.
Internet wifi speed incredibly slow. Was getting less than 2 Mbps during my stay. Was faster just staying on my mobile phone's 4G.
Standard TV in the room -- not a smart TV. TV was in a weird position as well being way too high if watching from the couch.
No soundproofing at all with the door. Could easily and clearly hear conversations in the hallway when lying in bed.
Service at the front desk was quick and fantastic.
Overall a fair room but not great value for money. Prices seem to fluctuate between $310 - $600 CAD.

Dear Smashing2, Thank you so much for this very thorough and detailed review, we sincerely appreciate the time you have taken to share these first hand insights from your recent visit. We're pleased to see that you had a satisfying stay and regret to hear that we did not hit the mark entirely for you. We are saddened to see that your coffee maker was not thoroughly cleaned and understand that this is a basic expectation. We will be sure to pass along this feedback to the leadership team within our housekeeping department for follow-up and coaching purposes. We are excited to inform you that our guest rooms are undergoing an extensive refurbishment, with the 4th and 5th floors nearing completion for summer use, the results are quite lovely. The balance of the rooms will enjoy the same upgrade in the fall of this year along with some of our common areas. Thank you for your kind remarks about our front desk services, the team will be very pleased to view your comments. Once again, thank you for this very helpful feedback and the opportunity to provide some clarity to your concerns. We do hope you will have a chance to return in the future and enjoy our fresh new look. Yours in Hospitality, On behalf of The Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain

We’ve been here probably 5 times in 8 years. The minute we walked in my 10 year old says “mom, it doesn’t have that same amazing smell I remember” (you know, that signature hotel scent). And then I realized this place isn’t the same as it used to be. It’s always been expensive, but now it’s just highway robbery. A $5 cup of drip coffee, a $13 slice of cake so small you could eat it in 2 bites. Our shower had someone else’s hair on the walls and floors when we checked in. Housekeeping is terrible. They skipped our room (and we only got a knock on the door at 6pm once they saw the pile of dirty towels I left in the hall). It took 4 hours and 2 phone calls to get some extra blankets in our room. I could go on and on. These issues are nothing major, but it’s sometimes the sum of many little things added up. I also got charged for parking twice on each day, so check your bill carefully. Thankfully, other than the missing signature Westin scent (lol!) my kids still had a great time.

Second time in a year. First time we thought we’d overlook the incredible service issues. We are not fussy people. This time made it clear, there are many other places to stay near the base. Someone I’m charge thinks they have a license to print money.
Order room service? Two hours later my wife on the fourth call with front desk is told “Yes, it probably is better if you go down and check with the restaurant yourself.” She does, and they say they are completely understaffed. But admit to continuing to take orders and in-restaurant customers anyways, all who are also experiencing terrible wait times.
Ask for sparkling water to be delivered to the room? No, you dont have any. In the whole very expensive hotel. Ok no problem, how about glasses of ice water with the food we ordered. And guess what comes? Warm bottles of bottled water it is! Want expensive salads delivered without any dressing at all? How about instead of a carafe of coffee, four cups (because we’re told all the carafes are being used for a “conference” - on Dec 27th).
It’s not an issue isolated to room service. Like Tea? You get one tea bag complimentary! And if you tear into the bag, and leave it there realizing it isn’t your type of tea, it will be left. Never changed. The house cleaners rags nicely left on one of the chairs to welcome us back. The broken toilet paper holder that the house cleaner spent probably ten minutes balancing so the toilet paper was held, only to fall as soon as it’s touched. Of course replaced again in its precarious position again the next day.
Of course the best part - when you arrive. 4pm check in? Forget it, your room is guaranteed not to be ready. Guaranteed gosh darn teed. Both times we visited, it wasn’t just ours, the lobby was packed, absolutely packed, at 4pm with people whose room isn’t ready. Come by, and witness it every single day yourself, between 4 and 5pm, the lobby packed with people with nowhere to go, kids and luggage in tow, all waiting for their rooms to be cleaned. With a completely strict 11am check out process, they claim. They obviously got rid of their staff during the Covid reduction in room service, and never hired them back.
This is the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve had it twice in a year. I honestly feel like a total idiot staying here again.
I write this in my final night in this horrible place. I hope I can just leave in peace in the morning.

Dear Sunshine468562, Thank you for taking the time to share these unfortunate events, we are deeply saddened to learn of your utter dissatisfaction and can assure you that this is not typical of our service standards as many previous guests can attest to. With regard to the restaurant within our premises, Oliver & Bonacini is operated by the owners independently of the Westin Trillium House, as such we will provide your commentary to them directly. We understand their services or lack there of, reflect poorly on the overall experience and apologize for these events on their behalf. It's not clear who suggested that the hotel reduced staffing as a result of Covid, many businesses have struggled to find staff since the pandemic and we are grateful to report that our housekeeping department is fully staffed at this time. During peak travel times, our housekeeping team can be challenged to deliver clean rooms on time, there are many contributing factors. For example, some rooms are left in such terrible condition, they require twice as long as anticipated to clean, sometime departure times are ignored and it becomes a challenge to get guests out on time, leading to slower start times for cleaning, to name just a few. We can assure you that our cleaning team works tirelessly to deliver clean and comfortable rooms on time and take immense pride in the work they do, We regret to hear that your experience was not to our standard. We have provided your feedback to our leadership team with regard to deficiencies overlooked by the cleaning associate and will provide coaching to the associate responsible. Please feel free to connect with us directly should you wish to discuss your concerns further at info@westinbluemountain.ca. Once again, thank you for this very helpful feedback and the opportunity to provide some clarity to your concerns. This hotel is mid at best, especially given the standards of some Marriott properties in bigger cities. The front desk staff were not overly friendly, many of our simple requests were left unmet.
Location is good in proximity to the village - close enough for a short walk but far enough for quiet and privacy.
The hotel is way bigger than it looks - the worst part of it though was the incredibly long hallways, with only 1 elevator area. Walking down 5 separate hallways to get to your room from the elevator with an exhausted toddler is less than desirable. The design seemed poor, in that they should've included a second set of elevators.
The room itself was good - clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was small, but that's consistent with most hotels. Nice bright window and the bed was incredibly comfortable.
The pool was FILTHY. I mean disgusting. They are undergoing exterior renovations and perhaps should have closed the pool in the meantime. It was full of shingles, drywall, dirt, grime, sticks, bugs, etc. We mentioned to the front desk that it was dirty and they didn't care at all.
This is the first time we've stayed at a hotel in Blue Mountain and if we return we would definitely go back to an AirBNB for a better experience.

We booked the two level loft and were told that these rooms didn't face the water. The room across us told us they had the exact same room with a view of the water. LIE #1. These rooms are expensive... too expensive for what you get in my opinion.
The room itself has a smell. Probably because this is a dog friendly hotel which I did not like due to me being allergic to dogs. The furniture and room is getting old and is showing wear and tear- LITERALLY with scratches and dents on virtually all walls and furniture. The AC gets cold which was great in the summer. The small kitchenette in the room has a small two burner stove (no oven), dishwasher and bar sized fridge. There's an in room coffee maker that was devoid of a pot. You get two tea bags( Chamomile and English Breakfast), creamers and sugar/ sweetener which I liked. Cutlery, dishes, dish soap, and a frying pan are also given. The king bed was comfortable, but the upstairs Queen was not. The washroom shower was small and kept banging into the door so it was chipped.
The pool has a reservation system set up for ten which you have to call the day before. When I told the front desk that it wasn't heated, as it's supposed to be, they said the boiler was broken and it would be fixed by the evening. LIE #2. When I mentioned that the 10 person limit wasn't being enforced and there were more than ten people in the pool (15), they said the limit had just changed to 20. LIE #3. Do you see the trend here?
Please don't play your guests for a fool. Be honest. I will not be returning.
Most people wore masks when they needed to. I took Lysol wipes with me and wiped down every single surface for extra precaution.

Dear globefamily, Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your recent visit to The Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain. We value our guest feedback and the opportunities that can arise to make improvements. We regret to see that you were dissatisfied with your accommodations and felt that you were deliberately misled by our associates, we can assure you that this would not be our intent. We are looking forward to moving forward with the hotels refurbishment project and in the interim our maintenance associates undertake routine maintenance and upgrades. Our larger units offer a full kitchen, perhaps a consideration if this feature is important. We are pleased to see that some of the amenities met with your approval. Yes, we have had to introduce a booking system for our pools in order to control capacities, guided by our local public health authorities. As we move through the stages of our Governments reopening plan, we look forward to welcoming more guests to our pools as restrictions ease. We did experience a service interruption with our boiler and regret that this impacted your pleasure at the pool, this has since been repaired. Our local public health authority assessed our pool facilities and established capacity limits for us to comply with, initially no more than 10 bathers. Just last week, this guidance was adjusted and capacity was increased, we apologize about this not being adequately communicated to all parties leading to a sense of deception. We pride ourselves on being fully transparent with our guests and associates and sincerely regret the poor impression you have taken away. Please feel free to reach out to us via info@westinbluemountain.com with particulars of your reservation, we would be more than pleased to investigate your concerns in depth and provide a detailed response. Yours in Hospitality, On behalf of The Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain Kevin Kingsbury General Manager

The first time we visited Blue Mountains we stayed in a Condo. We enjoyed the Scenic Caves and the mountain coaster so we decided to have a return trip during this visit to Canada, but thought the luxury of a proper hotel would be a step up. How wrong we were!
Arrival was confused. We could not access the car park without a room key and we were not supposed to park outside although we did so we could quickly check in. We did not want to unload everything at the front, instead wanting to take our time in the car park and only bring in what we needed for the final leg of our trip. We checked in and accessed the cramped and gloomy car park and took the dirty, smelly lift to our floor. Our room was a long way from the lift and so we traipsed down the dark gloomy The Shining-esque corridor, past numerous housekeeping trolleys and staff. It was surprising they were still servicing rooms at 4pm when we were told in no uncertain terms that a late check out was a no-no. Housekeeping staff did not acknowledge us as we passed down the corridors (as we had become accustomed to at Fairmont hotels recently), and thought they took priority in the lifts, one shouting ‘ lift full’ as he entered the lift ahead of us.
We chose the Loft Suite in the mistaken assumption this would be a pleasant end to our trip. Room was tired, in need of refurbishment and everything seemed cramped. The table for 6 could not actually seat 6 due to the stairs, and the chairs were in the way of the dishwasher. The outside balcony (overlooking the slopes and an unattractive car park) only had 2 chairs. The upstairs loft was filled by the bed with hardly any room to walk round at the bottom of the bed. Similarly the main bedroom was too small for the furniture. Bathroom was tired and needed refurbishment. Swimming pool was nice, but apart from that we were pretty fed up with our stay.
The hotel offered no advantage over a condo. You can’t even buy a bed and breakfast package, so you end up catering for yourself anyway. The Oliver Bonacini restaurant is a joke. Service is terrible, slow, apathetic and either unfriendly or fake, food is no better than your average bar food with inflated prices. Blue Mountains at the weekend seemed like a low grade resort, but at over $600 a night unfortunately the price tag was not in line with this.

Dear pjack68, Thank you for taking the time to provide this detailed and thorough review of your recent visit to the Westin Trillium House. We regret to learn of your displeasure, and want to assure you that this is not the quality of experience we strive to deliver. The 4th and 5th floors of this hotel property just completed an extensive refurbishment of guest rooms and feedback has been quite positive. We will begin work on the remaining floors and hotel common areas at the end of the summer season and look forward to delivering all of our refreshed guest rooms back into service in advance of the winter season. Our climate controlled underground parking is available for a nightly fee and is accessible using your room key, we regret to hear that you were not informed of this option in advance of your stay. Unfortunately, we are not immune to the global staffing shortage that is impacting all businesses and we are managing capacities to ensure we can clean the rooms we are selling, hence seeing our cleaning staff still working hard to deliver clean rooms to our guests. We regret to hear that you found the staff you encountered to be less than friendly and will be sure to bring this concern to the leadership team to be covered in morning briefings with the teams. We regret to hear that your experience was less than satisfactory at O&B, typically we hear very positive feedback about both their service and food offerings. The restaurant industry may quite possibly be the hardest hit by the current staffing shortage. We will be sure to provide your comments to the business owner for follow-up and coaching opportunities. Once again, thank you for this very helpful feedback and the opportunity to provide some clarity to your concerns. Yours in Hospitality On behalf of the Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain

No I don’t think so. There is an outdoor pool next door that offers day passes as a part of the blue mountain attraction pass tickets however.
