One of our favorite places in the world. The perfect balance of gorgeous and deserted location (think 1.3 km of beach front just for you), fantastic design (the walls of your Eco casita open completely leaving you with the most amazing views of the Pacific), fantastic meals (one local chef and one French one so you get plenty of Mexican...

I cannot even begin to describe how absolutely perfect this place was. From the amazing rooms, to the amazing food, to the amazing people, Playa Viva was everything I expected it to be and more. Not touristy in the least, all of their food is locally grown (if not from their own garden) and made from scratch. Each guest is...

Having read the extensive, overwhelmingly positive reviews of this fine resort before my own trip, and experiencing firsthand what each review had raved about, what can I possibly add except to encourage every prospective traveler to GO TO PLAYA VIVA!!!! Simply put, you will not be disappointed and your expectations will likely be exceeded by your reality. 1) Service -...

I've had a hard time getting around to writing this review because I would much rather be back at Playa Viva than in the real world. This place is amazing. I would even venture to say it is magical. We went in April, 2012 and from the moment we landed it was a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable experience. Julie and...

My wife and I brought our 1 year old daughter to Playa Viva. It was the first leg of a perfect vacation. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The family-style meals were delicious and the staff that fell in love with our little girl, felt like family by the end of the stay. The place was intimate, safe and very...

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. I knew from the minute we arrived that I would surely come back for another vacation. We ended up having the resort all to ourselves and it will be hard to have to share the place next time! My boyfriend and I visited over Memorial Day weekend to relax and recharge. The water is a...

The charm of Playa Viva is hard to put into words. It is situated on a long expanse of beach that you can walk on seemingly endlessly but meet almost no one since the aren't other resorts or development nearby. It doesn't feel uncomfortably isolated since it feels connected to the inland village village of Juluchuca and its surrounding farms...

My wife and I bid on a five day, five night stay at Playa Viva at a silent auction for a tremendous environmental organization -- Green Corps -- knowing only that it was in the proximity of Zihuatanejo of Shawshank Redemption lore. We were delighted with what we found. Beautiful open-aired, thatched-roof huts on the ocean. Healthy, locally-grown food that...

Playa Viva is a specialty/boutique hotel located about 45 minutes south of the Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo airport. They're also located a world away from the hassles of the Zihuatenejo marketplace or the manicured tourist experience of Ixtapa. The trip to the hotel is a little rough thru the town of Petatlan, but the moment you walk towards the beach, you realize that...

Every one of our seven days at Playa Viva we experienced magic. The moment that we arrived at the property Julia greeted us with such warmth that we felt as if we were home. Immediately she showed us around and to our eco casita that is undeniably one of the most well thought through structures we have ever seen. Walls...
