A small group of us have just returned to the UK after travelling around East Australia, we had a two nights stay at the rainforest - we wanted to experience everything Australia had to offer so thought this would be the best contrast against the goldcoast! What I can I say.... we was not disappointed! The whole experience was enchanting,... More

We were in Australia for a birding holiday, starting up in the Daintree and the Atherton Highlands, and coming down as far south as Lamington. We did not want to miss O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat, with all that we had read about it. With so many reports already submitted and so many photographs I wondered if it would be helpful to... I've stayed at O'Reilly's a few times now - in rooms in the older buildings - and always had a fantastic time. The rainforest and the birds are reason enough, but the accommodation, facilities, and friendly, helpful staff are a bonus! I'd like to retire there, and just go birdwatching and bushwalking all the time!

Such a great getaway and views. The Wedding ceremony location was amazing and the staff were very friendly. We did have a small issue with no aircon is the transport vehicle which left a lot of people hot and bothered but we cooled down quickly when back out in the rainforest. Highly recommend the escape for anyone who want to... More

Beautiful rainforest setting. Good food. Friendly & helpful staff. Birds and wildlife. Seriously off the beaten track location in Lamington National Park there are fabulous views of the mountains from the balcony of your room. Plenty of bushwalks of various lengths and lots of activities for serious nature lovers. No tv in the room so only for those dedicated to... More

We stayed at the lodge in a garden cabin (150 aud per night). I was pleasantly surprised by the room. Spacious and clean with wood ceilings and some wood paneling and nice furniture. A small refrigerator, electric kettle, ironing board and hair dryer were provided. Nice selection of teas and chocolate and a very nice selection of shampoo, hair conditioner,... More

This is our second time in a year that we've stayed at O'Reilly's. Last time we did the flying fox and lots of walks, this time around we opted for a more laid back approach. The room was good, slightly worn but expected when it's so reclusive. We did the Billy tea tour and we were certainly the youngest by... More

The view from the day spa was beautiful and it was all relaxing ... I do work in a day spa myself so I guess I have high expectations and found the massages pretty average for what you have to pay and my partner and I didn't get the full 90mins we booked in for... fairly disappointed wouldn't come back.

O'Reilly's lived up to most of our expectations The Lodge had been recommended to us a quarter of a century ago and half-way around the world and we determined to go there when at last we visited Australia. A long climb in the car up into the mountains on a narrow and winding but good road, through dry rainforest and... More

This was the first Bird Week my wife and I have attended. It was wonderful. The rainforest is outstanding and we managed to see and photograph 104 birds. The programme was varied and kept us busy. The food and accomodation was excellent. The rooms are perhaps not 5 star but are very comfortable and the staff and guides are very... More

Hello O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat team,

My best friend is getting married mid May 2017 and I was hoping to plan her girls getaway the week before her and her partner tie the knot. We were hoping to enjoy a relaxing weekend of day trekking, nature watching and catching up over wine before the big day. I was looking into accomodation around the Lamington National Park region and your retreat looks very elegant with views that are simply breathtaking! I would love to find out more about the requirements and limitations of a weekend stay, and also ask more about the local activities you would recommend nearby.

Firstly, we would have around 15 people interested in coming. What accomodation could you recommend for us so we stay together as much as possible (self-catered villas perhaps). As we are quite an outdoorsy bunch, we would each have the capacity to roll out our own personal swags to cater for those not utilising the bedrooms. So my first question would be what would be your limitations for maximum number of guests. The length of stay we would like to be there for is 3 nights, potentially around Saturday 6th, Sunday 7th and Monday 8th of May, however we would be flexible for two days before or after if those dates are unavailable.

Secondly, we would love to do as many outdoor activities as possible, so I was hoping to get an idea of local guides/companies you could recommend for trekking and nature watching that is in close proximity to the house, and any other interesting things you think would be good for our group size. Thank you so very much for your time and consideration, I would welcome a personal message with a reply sent here or via email if possible. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Kind regards,

Samantha Barnett
