We have just stayed 4 nights. Firstly Mieko and staff are so accommodating, especially Mitch who had great tips. I actually left my phone there and someone drove it down to our bus stop arriving in time...so thoughtful!! The rooms are a little well worn but comfy and traditional. The showers and onsen area is spacious and lovely. Great to...

So comfortable at this Hotel! Sleeping on futons and using the beautiful inside and outside onson. Fabulous experience! Great breakfast offering both western and Japanese options! Mieko does a fabulous job advising and making you feel welcome. Mitch does a fabulous job in the bar at Happy Hour and running everybody about! Just fabulous - highly recommended!

Miele and staff were full of great ideas and went out of their way to look after everybody. Organizing day trips and booking train trips etc etc. Breakfast fantastic with fresh strawberries. Cannot recommend more highly.

Mieko, the host was wonderful. We had a tatami room that worked well for the three of us. The onsite onsen was awesome to use after a long day on the slopes. Kougakuro is close to a number of tasty restaurants so dinner was easy. Breakfast at Kougakuro is a mix of Japanese and Western food, both tasty and filling....

We stopped for a week at Kogakuro Ryokan in Myoko Kogen early Jan 2017. We had the most beautiful stay. Our host Mieko was so very helpful - no request too large. We made good use of the lounge and bar area ( every evening) and thoroughly enjoyed chatting to Mitch, he was very helpful with tips for places to...

This hotel is fantastic! We stayed here for over a week and couldn't fault a thing. Mieko and her staff are so welcoming, friendly and willing to help with anything and everything. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the onsen is wonderful especially after a day skiing (it appears that most of the rooms only have a toilet and...

This is actually the third time I've stayed at Kogakuro which indicates how much I enjoy being here for my annual dose of snow. Mieko and her team are so kind and welcoming and really make the place a home away from home. The location is brilliant as it is right by the village and all the izakayas and restaurants...

We stayed for seven nights and the hotel is wonderful, the staff are extremely friendly and the owner speaks perfect english and was on hand to help us from booking trains, restaurants and even discussing which ski resort to visit for the next day. She even arranged a drop off at the train station very early in the morning. The...

We have nothing negative to stay about this place. The owner Mieko is wonderful, and took us in at the last minute when the original hotel we stayed at turned out to be sub-par. The whole place is very well-kept runs smoothly. The rooms are tidy, spacious and warm -- the perfect place to come back to after a day...

Just had a great stay at this hotel. Rooms lovely, great onsen with outside bath too. Breakfast was the best I've had in several trips to Japan. Best of all was the lovely host who spoke perfect English. She arranged for pick up in our next destination where the staff spoke little English. And she has just arranged for my...
