This is our second visit and we loved it just as much. The owner was there this year and he is a wealth of information. We wanted an alternative to Skye and he recommended a shorter trip that was a bit off the beaten path and beautiful. Also recommended an excellent pub. The rooms are modern and the bed was...

A well planned and badly needed break in Scotland to travel on two of the best rail lines on the planet, what could possibly go wrong? Rail replacement bus instead train to mallaig (well done scotrail, you couldn't find a train driver but you could find three coaches!), cancelled ferry (cal Mac has no ferry for the required tidal range....

I visited with my teenage son 12 months ago. We were so impressed we have just returned with my wife. We stayed in room 3, a downstairs room with a huge double bed, and a separate room with a double sofa bed. The room overlooked the loch, and was really spacious with a small sofa, wardrobe, dressing table and a...

I stayed at Balmacara Mains for 6 nights in early June 2016 and enjoyed my time there. The views are stunning and the location ideal. I enjoyed the tranquillity and proximity to Woodland walks alongside the loch. At this time of year though, I found the Midges terrible at dawn and through the long evening. The large picture window didn't...

We stayed at this guest house for two nights whilst touring the area and were really pleased to have found it. We arrived late afternoon and were met by our friendly host and shown to our room. The room had it's own access and was on the ground floor with a view across the loch to the Isle of Skye....

We stayed in nearly 20 bed and breakfasts during our trip and this was the WORST! Finding the place and parking was fine. When we checked in, we wondered around for a few minutes until we finally found someone to check us in. We stayed in room number 3 and upon walking into the room were hit full face with...

This is a beautiful guest house, beds very comfortable and everything very clean. The breakfast was great and staff very accommodating. One of the few places during our trip that actually provided wonderful Scottish toiletries! We only stayed one night but wished we could have stayed longer, even the children didn't want to leave. Location is stunning and peaceful. We...

This is a beautiful, high-end, tranquil guest house with very helpful and accommodating owners. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast choice is amazing and tasted phenomenal. In room courtesy tray had hot chocolate and herb tea as well as biscuits and bottled water. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay here. Thank you.

Lovely little place on the loch couldnt fault it at all, friendly helpful staff even ran us into town our 1st night here, stayed in room 6 with views overlooking the loch with a super king sized bed that was very comfy, I'll definitely be back for another stay in the future.
