Spa break with my wife in an executive lodge incl dinner bed and breakfast. The room was spacious and in good shape, the spa was excellent with attentive and knowledgable staff, this was the highlight of the stay, they really were very good and the back massage (my first) was great. The lift was working but out of order, I guess covid related but not sure, people were using it either way. A few things took the score down. No Prosecco in room upon arrival, this was corrected quickly enough but paying these prices you shouldn’t have to ask. Shower wouldn’t drain properly, we had to put towels in the cubicle to stop the bathroom flooding, the towels were replaced for us when we mentioned it but I cut short my showers to try and keep it dry. Bar service was pretty slow overall but not a real complaint, the food was served as a carvery which was a shame and took away from the meal, but it was actually very tasty, better than any carvery I’ve been to before. Still, not quite what you are paying for even allowing for the explanation offered (staffing issues and poor reliability of produce, fair enough but offering a something to guests as a small measure of compensation would be appropriate). Breakfast was pretty cold and the machine coffee was terrible. Sadly there was a pretty brutal fight outside the main entrance which ended our evening as we genuinely didn’t feel safe to stay downstairs. Can’t blame the hotel for that but when there are four police cars outside your room and somebody has been hurt it dulls the mood. Overall 3 is slightly harsh but 4 would be much too generous. I would still go again but my expectations would be lower next time.

Relaxing spa break. The service is fantastic, staff are very polite and welcoming. It was my first time having spa treatments and I would definitely go back again. We were in the newly refurbished room on the top floor and loved it. Nice big bath and very modern looking and clean. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Really bad start, mix up on the bookings, prices different to email confirmation and no mention of evening meals being a carvery, took 20 minutes to get served at the bar. We fully appreciate that staff post Covid/Brexit are hard to come by but still overpriced compared to genuine 4star hotels . That was until Jake on reception and John in the bar intervened and transformed the negative into a positive, these guys are a real credit to the hotel and really made a difference, for their customer service I’d give them both 10/10, pay them both more and step up your game, it could be amazing 👍👍

Accommodation - we had a standard room that was well maintained, equipped and quite big. Check in staff were friendly engaging and helpful. Food was decent for the money we paid. Standard buffet breakfast with excellent choice of foods. Evening meal also buffet style with a good variety all well made. Spa facilities are brilliant. Everything was clean, well presented and in good working order The staff in the spa deserve a special mention. Mariska on reception is very friendly and maintained an outstanding level of professionalism. She made my wife and I feel like we were the only people there and our happiness really mattered. We both noticed she did this with all the clients. Our beauty therapists were Amber and Lydia. Both are skilled, friendly and professional. All the staff we encountered were top notch in their approach and attitude Thank you all for a lovely stay. Chris
