Stayed here many time before and enjoyed this trip once again
Single room is okay and the extra single occupancy charge is very low.
Food and service was excellent with a great atmosphere in the bar restaurant.
It’s position so near the buffaurre lift makes life very easy.

Clean, quiet and well-kept hotel, very kind and discreet staff, very convenient location (practically on the Baffure cable car square, a few steps from the central area of Pozza). Externally there is a large free car park, and a charging station for electric vehicles at the entrance to the hotel. Excellent internal services, a very comfortable SPA, the attached restaurant (average prices and very good food), the varied and very good buffet breakfast. The room we were in, very spacious, nice and quiet, directly overlooked the mountain.
If I have to find a flaw... I would put a sign in the lift indicating the floor where the breakfast room and the SPA (the only thing I can find) are really recommended, and I will definitely return.

I would like to thank the owner, a very kind lady. For me it was my first holiday alone and I was very lucky. I will definitely return. A very clean, cute, well-kept hotel and also in an excellent location.

Stayed there while on skiing holidays with Crystal Ski - our first visit to the Dolomites and this area of Nothern Italy. We fell in love with the Dolomites and will be back next year. The area to ski and explore is so vast, we barely touched it despite skiing a new area every day of the week.
San Nicolo is a high quality definitely 4 star in making hotel, located right next to the main gondola in charming clean village of Pozza di Fassa. Built not so long ago, it is so well designed, finished to very high standard with amazing attention to details. All furniture is made of local seasoned wood with charming carved detailing - we had four poster bed with quality foam mattress and high quality bedding - so good to collapse into after the day on the slopes. Lovely bathroom again finished to very high standard with large walk-in shower and even a bidet. Everything looks brand new and is kept immaculately clean. All rooms as far as I know have balconies.
Breakfast room is bright, very cosy, full of cosy seating with luxurious plentiful buffet breakfast and fantastic coffee machine producing delicious coffies of all kinds.
My husband used sauna, steam room and hot tub every day and loved it.
Good ski room in the basement with secure individual lockers opened by your key-card, complete with heated boot driers.
The owners are most hospitable youngish couple with children, speak perfect English and are available in the mornings and evenings when most guests are about. All staff are very friendly and welcoming, eager to assist - bliss.
There is an apre ski bar on the ground floor of the hote,l popular with guests and locals. It plays music all afternoon until about 6-7 pm. I love piece and quiet and it was an issue for me as our room was located right above the bar, but then they stopped at reasonable time, so was bearable. Other than that, the hotel is perfect in every way.

Hi, Just back today from a week skiing in the dolomites and had a great time. Booked through Crystal ski and a big thanks to Chris. I'm skiing about 15 years+ and I don't normally go on package ski deals but this was very good all round (I'm getting sick of car hire companies).
1.the ski area is 1200km and about 750km was open, not bad when you consider the lack of snowfall. Not to worry, the snowmaking facilities are peerless and pistes had edge to edge snow, top to bottom ideal for carving. This includes the black run (volcano) into the village of Pozza where we stayed. Remarkable!
I found it difficult to get current specific information on snow conditions on the web before we travelled so I can say they are very very good on the pistes (there is no off piste!) We did the sella Ronda Friday 30th so got a very good sense of the whole area conditions. It was sunny and warm in sun but cold in the shade all week. Also the lift system is excellent, they've invested a fortune and it shows.
2.. Hotel San Nicolo - Great location beside the lift, lift pass office and several ski hire shops (mention the hotel gets you 10%off)
Hotel is warm with plenty of hot water. Rooms are ...well roomy. Everything was in good nick and in a traditional style which makes for a cosy atmosphere.
Staff are exceptionally friendly:, breakfast staff ,cleaners, bar and restaurant staff were all so nice.
Food is very good we had dinner a couple of nights (its so handy when you're tired)
There is a nice wellness area we used every day.
The bar area gets apres ski trade which adds atmosphere
A family of 8 we met stayed there and they were very happy too.
3. The village is small, quiet and charming;we ate in three other restaurants and all meals were excellent from pizza/pasta (€8-11) to venison, Mouflon etc (€21).0.5l carafe of pleasant wines were €8 and decent bottles from €22. There is a late night bar Moro, ideal if you want to have conversation (and drink), which we went to on several nights. Generally the village and slopes were not that busy for Xmas (we stayed 24-31 Dec)

2 adults staying and ended up in a 6 persons room top floor and at the back, so it was great. The well being room which has a jacuzzi, steam and sauna room is well maintained and free. The rooms are clean and spacious. The hosts are polite and friendly. The hotel is 100/200 yards from the ski lift.
To be fair, for the value it was an excellent hotel
The room for improvement would be
A large larger is €5 which is maybe 3/4 pint, most places are cheaper, we walked down to another hotel on the last day, sat on their terrace drinking the same brand in a pint glass at €4 and had much better decor
The menu is very simple and after day 2 ate else where
I emailed the hotel twice before coming and received no reply in reference to ski pass enquiries, on arriving the staff struggle with English, although the bar man and woman were quite good, which could be why they never replied
You will find après ski is from 5-7 and is busy and plays loud German folk music...a friend stayed on 1st floor and said he would not be happy if he was with a partner or with kids
Heating only works with the room key and in the evening. The rooms were generally warm enough, but between 2 of us, we struggled to dry our basic clothes on the radiators. We had the room stat at 30, I'll be surprised if the room reached 20.
Breakfast is dry white roll (local special) cheese, ham and local meat; cereals with UHT, boiled egg or small toast. It would be great to have sausage or other as a choice
I did wake one day and shower at 6.45am with no hot water, at 7.30 hot water was working?
TV has maybe 100 channels, 2 are English, BBC (France) and Russian News (by US news readers)
Bar was dead from 7pm onwards as was town :(
Tea/coffee facility in room
Summary - breakfast, dinner and bar, need improving. A small improvement toward English comprehension/entertainment.
Nothing to do with hotel, but local info for the traveller
Chrystal ski - don't believe their promo of the area, it's a very quiet village with NO night life entertainment past 7pm
buffaure lift 100 yards away, will take you to Alba - 1 hour ski with clear lifts, good for skiing not so good for boarders (me)
Catch a bus from outside the hotel €6 for the week, only checked by bus co once, to campitello and canazei, taking 20-45 mins respectively, but queuing for the lift can take 60 mins at least :(
Coming home the bus does not go up pozza, you have to walk at least to the main road or back to the hotel.
The Stelleronda ski orange is do'able for an average/good skier we did not try the green run
We (3) done the hidden valley ourselves and got there fairly easy, all be due to busses and queues did not start until after 10. However inc lunch only started our return at 3 due to queuing times, and was too far to clear the lifts closing time to get home...€140 taxi :(
If I returned to the region I would stay closer to the main runs or hire a car to get to the lift opening times 8am (buses 1st pick up is 8.07am plus 45 mins travel)
Town has no night entertainment :(

+1
We stayed here as part of a Crystal Skiing Holiday. Pozza Di Fassa is a lovely town with many hotels, bars, small shops and restaurants and the skiing options here are fantastic. The hotel San Nicolo is perfectly located for skiing as it is a 2 minute walk (in ski boots!) to the Buffaure Gondola which takes you up the mountain and opens up a huge option of slopes for you. The hotel owners and staff are friendly and you have all you need here. The Ta Mongo bar is part of the hotel and offers lunchtime meals and drinks and has the most lively apres ski bar in the area but even this is not very loud or busy, even in February.
There is a room down in the basement full of heated lockers where you can store all your skiing equipment during your stay. Your room key opens your locker automatically. There is no extra charge for this facility.
Although there are only three floors above the basement there is still a lift which is handy.
The Hotel Spa is really nice and was not busy between 4.30 and 5.30pm so it was the perfect place to relax after a day skiing. It has a jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, two open wet room/showers and benches where you can relax. There is even a hot water urn where you can prepare your own herbal teas, and mineral water available.
Rooms are very large and spacious and most have a 4 poster bed (with led lights illuminating the roof if you wish!). The bed was a King Size and the mattress was very good, comfortable and supportive. The double rooms have two wardrobes, a safe, a table and chairs and a good sized bathroom with toilet, bidet, sink and a good sized shower. There are hooks outside the wardrobes for your skiing clothes, and a balcony outside with a chair. The door to the balcony can also be cracked open from the top as well as fully opened - the same with the bathroom window.
Breakfast is very nice, served from 8am until 10.30am in the first floor cucina. There is plenty of choice - fruit, cakes, coffee, juices, cereals, seeds, honey, boiled eggs, bread and a toaster and even a Bio section with a selection of healthier snacks.
When you check out you will need to pay the 1 Euro per person per day tourist tax (if you are a foreign tourist) and for early check outs (with Crystal Ski anyway) the hotel even provide a bag for you with a ham and cheese bread roll and bottle of water for the 2.5h coach trip back to Verona airport.
There are so many skiing options from the nearby Buffaure lift you don't even need to use the local ski bus (6 Euro per person per week) which circles round Campitello, Canezei and Alba and back every 30 minutes. We took the Gondola lift up to Buffaure and from here you can travel by red run and lift across the Valvacin, Geiger, Maggiore, Brunech areas to the Ciampac/Penia area. There are places to eat and drink all across this journey. This journey takes around an hour and then there is still time to go down the no. 131 Gondola (or brave the black run down the mountain instead!) and then up the new no. 130 Gondola up to the Belvedere ski area which is superb and offers many red runs and one black run. Again there are MANY lifts here and places to eat - at the top of lift 107 (great views!) and also at the bottom of the area.
The Hotel San Nicolo would be a four star hotel if it offered full evening meals but as you can see from my photo there are plenty of places to eat in Pozza for every taste and price. I can't imagine staying at a nicer hotel than this for a skiing holiday and it would be perfect any other time of year also!

Having stayed at the San Nicolo twice before, we were looking forward to our 3rd trip and it did not disappoint. The rooms are immaculate, with beautiful furniture, comfortable beds and are cosy and warm after a days skiing. The bathrooms are very clean and come complete with a large (ish) shower which is always piping hot. The rooms are plenty big enough to accommodate a couple or family. Lorenzo and his wife look after you very well along with the other staff. The relaxation steam room, sauna and jacuzzi are welcomed after a hard day on the slope, following by a large beer in the ground floor bar. The bombardinos are certainly worth a try!
The hotel is conveniently located next to the Buffaure ski lift which takes you up into the mountains in approximately 5 minutes. From here there is access to a wide range of slopes. Alternatively, catch the bus outside the hotel to go to Campitello which takes you into and onto the Sella Ronda, or Pera and Vigo for easier blue runs.
Pozzi is a quant town, with the centre approximately 10 minutes walk and there are plenty of pizza and pasta restaurants to choose from. The staff at the hotel recommended a restaurant in the mountain which was well worth the visit (it is on the main board by the reception desk). All of the food is either raised or grown in and around the restaurant, all organic and tasted unbelievably good. It was a real treat. They even pick you up and drop you off!
Can't wait to go back next year! Thanks Lorenzo, you were the perfect host!!
