We had rented a car for our stay in the region, and found Tanekura perfectly located within close reach of a number of towns and sights we were planning to visit. However, despite the proximity...

Tanekura means "Seed Storage". This 120-year old inn is in the middle of a traditional farming village. Sakagami is a few stations from Takayama, and Satoyama Village is typical of most of rural Japan--depopulation is a significant problem. Satoyama Express opened Tanekura in April and has been attracting visitors who want to experience the beauty and serenity of Japan's mountains...

This house has been maintained comfortably and become inn where you can eat, have a bath and stay there. At the dinner, a fish cooked by Sumi-bi will be served with a lot of edible wild vegetable which are healthy.

I think we paid a little over 20,000 JPY as part of our package with Satoyama Cycling Tours but it was definitely worth it. The staff didn't speak any English but they were incredibly friendly and polite. There was no one else staying...
