The Basak residence is a small cocoon of well-being, everything is refined, from the trilogy of welcome cocktails to the details of the rooms. Breakfasts are exquisite and the restaurant's menu offers delicious cuisine. You can use the bikes to get to wat Phu and the ride to wat Muang Kang along the Mekong river allows you to cross the villages and meet the smiles and sabaidee of its inhabitants. The staff is an attention at all times. Having a drink while watching the river flowing and the fishermen sailing, walking in the village and discovering all the old colonial buildings transports us to the last century. We will return with pleasure.

There are rare cases on your travels that you come across a hotel that does everything so well that the five star rating does not fit the experience.

Wonderful building, welcoming reception, fantastically well appointed rooms, world class toiletries and an a la carte breakfast to absolutely die for. Wonderful staff and very attentive management. Have I missed anything, probably, just so many things to mention. Welcome cocktail before dinner was delicious.

We actually intended only to stay one night in Champasak town to see the Wat Phu very early and then head off back to Pakse but we just felt so good sitting on our porch on the Main Street watching life go by that we decided to stay a second night.

We arranged with the hotel that we would have breakfast at around 13:00 so we could eat after our visit to Wat Phu. It is not often a hotel is so accommodating to such requests.

Laos in the time of Covid is not easy for any hotel but unlike other hotels we visited in the south of Laos, the management have kept the same standards in all regards. So while I wish them well for the future, if you are in Laos at the moment get down to Champasak and enjoy being pampered at an absolute bargain price. “Travel Laos to help out”.

It was delightful to receive warm hospitality as soon as we arrived. The staff greeted us warmly with ginger strawberry juice and led us to the rooms which were nicely decorated. The conditioners already were turned on and scent was lit up...very refreshing and relaxing.

The garden rooms are very cozy. The flowers in the courtyard are very beautiful and worth exploring.

I, myself, had a room with the river view. Having the windows opened to greet the stars from the bed was awesome. We woke up early to enjoy the milky way and sunrise by the river. It was fantastic.

Gourmet breakfast was well prepared and garnished. It was the best meal I had during my stay in Pakse.

Overall service and hospitality is excellent.

I would like to extend my appreciation to Apeksha Jain and her staff for being enthusiastic and wonderful hosts,

The hotel is located in Champassak town, from here you can go to Wat Phou and Dong Daeng island (a nice day out in the countryside, walk or bike cycle)

The hotel is nice and clean, in a quiet area with lots of personal touches to make it homey. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The restaurant serves great firewood oven pizza at the weekend if you are fed up with spicy salads and noodles

What an amazing start to our Laos adventure, Residence Bassac is picture perfect. From the airport pickup to day trips swimming in waterfalls with a hearty picnic lunch everything seemed effortless ,testament to the professionalism and beautiful nature of the Hotels incredible staff.Situated on both sides of the road with the Mekong for a neighbour. Sun rise over the Mekong just beautiful followed by breakfast in Soum Noum where the food was always great, breakfast lunch and dinner traditional Lao and very tasty and the beer Lao always cold. Our room was well appointed spotlessly clean and very comfortable and quiet.Be sure not to miss the morning parade of locals going to and from the market and the kids on the way to school with their inquisitive stares ,smiles and occasional wave. The real asset for Residence Bassac is the staff lead by Apeksha they are truely amazing made us feel very welcome and at home as soon as we arrived. Due to trip our being cut short by border closures and cancelled flights soon after we left Residence Bassac we are planning to return in 2021 and without a doubt our first stop will be Champasak - Residence Bassac but for longer this time to learn more about Lao life and feel a part of the family that is Residence Bassac. 10 out of 10

Having been blessed to travel all over Southeast Asia I can absolutely say this is one of the most special places. There is incredible attention to detail throughout the entire hotel. The rooms are beautiful and well designed. The restaurant serves delicious breakfasts and wonderful pizza. 🙂Each and every member of staff deserves praise and they are headed by an outstanding general manager Apeksha. As I have mentioned in other reviews I am indeed the Hotel Monster and not the easiest but I left extremely happy. Personally I found the value of the hotel one of the best of anywhere in the world. There are 14 lovely rooms and I looked at a few different ones but for me I thought my Deluxe Duplex was outstanding in size, design and even though I happily travel solo there is one and a half baths and a small balcony. Perfection. Small and intimate. This was about my 8th or 9th visit to Laos a country that I love but my first time in Champasak. I will absolutely go back as for me this is a Destination Hotel. There is talk of a swimming pool in the not too distant future and if that happens there will be no reason to even leave the property! 😀

We visited here in August 2020 shortly after the hotel opened and a few months before the COVID lockdown and it is so great to see the hotel is still as good as it was the first time. The rooms are delightful, the bedding, towels and amenities are world class, the hotel staff are amazing, the food is delicious and the village around the hotel is quiet but atmospheric. My favourite feature at the hotel are the floor tiles in the bedrooms - stylish and so comfortable under foot. In fact this place has everything - even a garden along the Mekong.

We stayed both times in one of the two ground floor flats opposite the main hotel - garden/river side. It has a bedroom and an entrance study with desk and a sofa bed plus a terrace to sit outside when it is a little cooler in the rainy season.

If you are looking for a quiet weekend getaway then this is an excellent place to come.

This is a small and beautiful hotel in the Main Street of Champasak. Their aime is to be the best hotel option around, and let me be very clear at once; they almost manage a 100%! Their garden rooms are excellent, spacious and comfort wise at top. The suite(s) stretching over 2 floors are very good too. Everything connected to the art of being well, sleeping well and service and cleanness, are top notch. But the devil is in the details and I can’t help thinking that they still have a 2% to go to be totally on top, but again; it’s absolutely one of the best small scale hotel operations in Laos!! Their breakfast is super, the kind and smiley service works, and whatever you wanna do; they’ll try to fix it prompte. The kitchen may have a bigger potential than delivered now. They do a Lao kitchen and also present some western dishes, pizza’s amongst them, and I have a feeling they could grow a bigger food signature of their own... And just a final remark; they do excellent cocktails and serve them gently... This is a super place to spend some days!!

This boutique style hotel is a little gem. It sits on the banks of the Mekong and is in a renovated old colonial style building oozing with character. The staff here are first class and could not do enough for you. We ate two nights in the restaurant on site and the food was excellent. Breakfast was also similarly of a very high standard. Residence Bassac benefits from a location close to the main amenities in Champasak. I would highly recommend a stay at Residence Bassac.

We loved the beautiful view of the Mekong River and enjoyed delicious breakfasts. All of the staff are kind and welcoming and made you feel at home. The hotel helped us organise an incredible trip to Si Phan Don and always made sure we were having fun. The food at the restaurant in the hotel is very yummy. You have an option of Western and Eastern which is great for people who like Lao and Western food. I recommend the pork belly! Delish!!!
