I stayed at The Sebel Malvern in January the night before my wedding and the days after (2 penthouses for 2 nights ). We also had 10-15 rooms booked for our guests to stay the night of the wedding. Unfortunately not the greatest experience and I would not encourage anyone to stay here. Great location but very VERY poor customer service. The rooms for my family and my husbands family weren’t cleaned, Day of the wedding we tried to get some more champagne flutes as there was only 2 supplied for a 3 bedroom penthouse. The man at reception wouldn’t help us and gave a list of reasons. 1. His staff apparently couldn’t speak English, 2. He couldn’t do it himself as he had a sore leg, 3 There was a house inspection that day and they were busy. When my fiancé at the time asked if the receptionist could please print off his vows (he had forgotten to print it before the wedding) he was told bluntly no. Now this seems bad enough as is but this wasn’t the biggest issue we had. We then come to find out that when our wedding guests are arriving to check into their rooms at the hotel the male receptionist thought it appropriate to complain to OUR wedding guests about the grooms family being “difficult” with their requests on the day of our wedding. 5 different rooms with our guests had this receptionist complain to them about our family. On check out day we spoke to reception about our disappointment with the customer service and (I assume the same male receptionist) decides to inform my now husband that it was his families fault and THEN COMPLAINS TO US? We requested to speak to management and the receptionist refused to ask management to come from out the back. I emailed the general manager of our issues after the wedding as we had organised all our rooms through them. The response was luck lustre and more of a slap in the face. Unfortunately no resolution, no apology to my husband or his family for the disrespect and abhorrent behaviour from the hotel receptionist and no real response from management. Our family and friends are aware of what happened and all have changed any plans with the company of hotels due to the mismanagement and poor customer service that was shown. I would not recommend especially if you’re wanting it for a special event.

Perfect location for me whilst hubby was in hospital. Easy 20 min walk. Parking onsite, inc if you book direct and mention Cabrini. Friendly staff, accommodated early check in. One bedroom apartment had everything you could possibly need. kitchen; full size fridge, cooktop/oven, dishwasher and utensils/cookware. Washer, dryer, bathrobes. Bathroom full size amenities, very nice quality. Comfortable bed, big balcony overlooking suburb. Very quiet. Highly recommend.

The reason i booked the Sebel Malvern was due to me staying at their property in Perth. That was a great experience. Apart from the issue of having to Ask them to clean the room, the building was noisy being on a main road and had a funky smell in the building. Most mornings, there were residents slaming their doors. Had I have known that international Uni students permanently rented some of the apartments, I would definitely have not stayed there. I thought the Sebel were Holiday apartments. I don't need to see uni students wandering around in there pyjamas from floor to floor with their smelly Noodles while I'm on holiday. Maybe my fault for not booking a proper hotel, but I am thoroughly disappointed in this property. Never will I Ever recommend or stay at the Sebel Malvern again.

By far the worst Accor hotel I stayed in! As an Accor gold member, I stayed in numerous Accor hotels all around Australia and in the world. I cannot fathom how this place is called a Sebel! I booked months in advance, correspondence was shockingly poor in customer service, they practically misinformed me about what an accor gold membership benefits entail, didn’t offer or honour early check in, late check out and welcome drink. Didn’t want to offer a room upgrade but they did in the end however the room is fairly basic, wasn’t clean enough and lacked most basic utilities. The internet was slow and kept dropping off. Reception generally was unhelpful and unfriendly. Parking situation was a mess. Corridor had a terrible stench. It was rather difficult to get the rooms cleaned. I wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend this so called hotel to anyone. Wouldn’t surprised me if Accor cleans out the entire workforce to replace them and rebrands it or just sell it to another provider. Stay away!

Worst experience in staying in Sebel Malvern, Melbourne. We booked two 2 bedroom apartments with 2 bathrooms for 8 adults. When we checked in the rooms we found that the receptionist allocated us to 2 bedroom apartments with 1 bathrooms. We went to reception again and reported that we paid for 2 bathrooms with 2 bedrooms apartments . Inexperience and reluctant staff then started calling manager and finally gave us the room . We had to shift all our luggage to another building and this took nearly 3 hours of our precious time. Rooms were claustrophobic and there is no Air conditioning vent inside the bedrooms . Rooms were so tiny that you have squize yourself to get into the bed. When we booked, the staff named Simon confirmed us that it will be in the 14 th floor but they put us in 5 th floor. Because of the Air conditioner issue, we had to keep the window open and the noise makes us awakened throughout the night. Will never stay in ANY Sebel apartment in future. Staffs are most inexperienced and inefficient. BE AWARE when making booking for FALSE PROMISES by booking staff.

The staff were friendly and close proximity to Monash Medical Clayton. Unfortunately this just wasn't the hotel for my requirements. The check-in was smooth and quick and so was checkout, but there was no restaurants or eateries nearby to grab a bite to eat after landing in the evening. Also the fridge wasn't stocked with milk so I couldn't get a tea in arrival. Lifts were draped in canvas. Room was quite small. If I was on a holiday I think this hotel would have been ok however for a business trip it wasn't as convenient.

The Sebel Hotel branding, as listed on the Accor Hotel website, is considered to be of a Premium standard (equal to that of Movenpick, Peppers, MGallery et al) the expectation being that of an attentive & welcoming reception, a porte cochère (driveway/covered entrance) with an obliging concierge, refinement & fine finishes, quality bedding (sheets & towels), spacious rooms, a 24 hour reception & room-service, daily housekeeping, superior flooring (carpet & tiles), modern Australian artwork on the walls and would only accommodate hotel guests not permanent residents. None of these expectations were met on our stay at this hotel, which was extremely disappointing. Our experience when staying at other Accor hotels of this caliber has been that of a high standard always, yet the lack of quality accommodation, service, care and function for a hotel brand such as The Sebel Hotel could not be ascribed to this property, it is more equal to that of the IBIS brand. As a regular guest of Accor, prior to every booking I have always been emailed an early check-in registration, which assists with an easier arrival process, this was not the case on this occasion and when I queried this I was told this hotel did not offer this ‘option’ (I didn’t realise this was an option, I was of the understanding that it was part of the service). From the beginning there were a number of red flags - on approaching the hotel (in my own vehicle) to find there was no porte cochère (driveway/covered entrance) at the entrance of the hotel or even a safe curbside pick up/drop off, it was disconcerting, for safety reasons I would have expected this to be de-rigour, being that the hotel is located on one of the busiest roads in Melbourne, Dandenong Road, with the speed of vehicles dashing past it is an incredibly dangerous position for those wanting to alight their vehicles at the entrance, it is an accident waiting to happen. Not being familiar with the surrounds I had to circle the block a couple of times to locate the hotel’s private driveway, it was quite nerve wracking. It was not obvious to see the signage as it was not lit up and the entryway is slightly hidden from the approaching traffic. There is also a large electric metal gate which when opening/closing leave little room to pull up safely and when using the room card to action the opening of the gate it’s extremely difficult to manoeuvre your car close enough to tap the card on the wall mount without causing damage to your car - which I did!! Also one has to be extremely attentive of the surrounds at all times when driving in, thankfully when I pulled in the first time another vehicle had just tapped open the gate with their ‘key’ and I was able to follow them through. It would have been extremely beneficial to have been informed in advance of the location of the driveway. Once ‘in’ we found our way to reception to check in, the receptionist took her time to find our booking which was concerning, she was then assisted by whom I assumed was the manager who finalised the check in and took payment. I didn’t think to look at my receipt at the time however it was not until we got to our room that I realised I had been over charged and I had not been assigned the points from the booking, it was a very ‘Fawlty Towers ’esq’ experience. I would like to note that I was reimbursed the overpayment but I am still waiting on the points. Once we got to our room - a 2 bedroom ‘deluxe’ apartment - my kids and I were astounded to find that the photos I had based the booking on did not align with the room configuration in any way, the photos had given me the impression of a spacious apartment and this was certainly not the case by a long shot. The two bedrooms were tiny, there was no room to walk around the beds in the second bedroom (even with the two single beds having been pushed together) and the main bedroom had very little to no room between the queen bed and the bathroom door, there was also no hanging space or suitcase rack. When heading out a little later where I stopped at reception to fix up the overpayment, I asked if we had been given the wrong room, I was told that the ‘deluxe’ apartment was definitely the room I had booked and that the only difference between a ‘standard 2 bedroom apartment’ and the ‘deluxe’ 2 bedder was the floor to ceiling windows….I was astounded that the price difference was because of a window!! I then enquired about whether there was an in-house restaurant or brasserie on site &/or room service to be told there was neither! Our experience and expectations for what I had booked was not getting any better. There were also other issues within the room itself, water damage on the ceiling in the main bedroom which was rather unsightly and could become quite possibly a mould issue if not already. The bedrooms as mentioned were extremely tiny and the bathrooms even tinier (you could not swing a cat in either, let alone easily get through the shower door without a squeeze). The closet space in the main bedroom was taken up with a spare blanket, a pillow and a bed protector of which had just been shoved in, not even folded, the second bedroom closet was taken up with a vac, ironing board and two cheap dressing gowns exuding an unpleasant odour. And finally there was no housekeeping at all, having spend a full day out to arrive back to our room to unmade beds etc was disappointing to say the least. I then found a note stating that due to covid restrictions the room would only be cleaned on request! Again not in a obvious position to read nor was I informed at reception. When visiting Melbourne we would normally stay at an Accor hotel in South Yarra, which on this occasion I thought would be a tad too far away as the reason we had come to town was to attend a funeral and be with family, therefore the location of this hotel was far more suitable, however in the end, sadly, this was the only positive of the experience, even though we weren’t looking to be spending that much time in the hotel, (it was simply a place to lay our heads, shower and change) we were seeking a comfortable, welcoming & restful experience, a sanctuary, and unfortunately it just wasn’t up to expectations. So if your expectations are that this property will be that of an Accor Premium Hotel experience I would suggest you stay elsewhere, as this property is overrated and underwhelming. However there is definitely potential for so much more starting by employing an architect & interior designer, but then again they could always just downgrade the branding to equal that which is on offer.

I expected stunning and clean apartment when I booked in, however, my actual experience is not as I expected. The rooms aren't look like images and there are rude and unprofessional staff who doesn't even care about guests well being. Very reluctant to provide room service facilities. They took a bond when check in and didn't release until I call and ask. As a 4 star hotel they more than to this and their service not even worth 1 star. This is my first and last stay with Sebel Malvern.
