I only stayed here for one night and found the staff really friendly and helpful. They made me feel right at home giving me details of things to do around the place. The accommodation was very clean, the kitchen very well equipped. Great breakfast the next day at the Cafe.

You can't say that about many of the places I have stayed in the Central Highlands. Interesting to see how they have converted a former school to a number of loft style accomodations. A bit claustrophobic if you are there during the day but all good at night with the tavern only 100 meters or so away. All mod cons...

We arrived on the dot of 5.30, girl coming out of the office said the bar would deal with our check in, not a very good first impression. Both girls in the bar/restaurant (1 Australian, 1 Estonian) were extremely friendly. Signage to the actual entrance of the Scholars house could be a lot better and a can of oil or...

This was the perfect spot to get warm and eat well after enjoying a great day of paddling the white water. Room 1 in the Scholar's House was brilliant and food at the restaurant great. Nice and warm log fires too.

We spent one night, but thoroughly enjoyed the thoughtfully appointed interior design. The loft apartment was very comfortable, but turn on the light before venturing downstairs, I took a tumble, I just didn't want to wake my partner. The super large communal kitchen was an added plus, totally self contained, my partner is a retired chef and he was impressed....

Scholers house had nice rooms set in amongst beautiful scenery. The house consists of many small rooms off of a central common room/kitchen area. This meant people could do as they pleased, be it, read quietly in their "wing" or socialise with others in the kitchen area. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly...

Rushed down from Strahan to make it for the 6 pm check-in. Staff were friendly enough but other than the 2 of them plus a couple of delivery folks the next morning, we saw no one else around. It can get a bit like a ghost town with nothing to do. We stayed at the Scholars House and although there...

This great little place was a perfect place to stay to visit "The Wall". The room was spotless, warm and comfortable. Only issue is that it is VERY tiny. The bed is barely a double. My husband couldn't turn around in the shower and he is trim and fit! Having said that - it is perfectly placed for the cafe....

Recommended to us by the Tourist Information Centre at Strahan, we weren't let down. What we found was a charming, art deco little community in a time warp... straight from a movie set! The original Hydro-Electric workers cottages had been refurbished and lined a wide avenue, there was The Lodge and the Scholar's House (school house) and a Community Hall...

We stayed at the Scholars house at Tarraleah for the night and found it to be a lovely night gateway from Hobart. The two story rooms are nice, but only have heating and are a little stuffy when warm as there is no air conditioning. The bedroom is upstairs (queen bed) with a small lounge and compact but new bathroom...
