Very nice location. Quite old house but clean. Very very friendly host. We stayed for only one night. Had 2 rooms each with a private bath room and shower Truly freshly cooked breakfast. Mini supermarket and bakery located close by. Surprisingly quite at night. Early morning traffic kicks in.

A secret, comfortable and convenient hideout within the city I stayed at Chaletico during a particular rough time of my life, I needed a quiet place that was close to the city that allowed me to securely park my car and that I could work from, that was my goal. I got so much more from Chaletico, Pedro was very attentive and his breakfasts, my god his breakfasts! I'm still missing his Gallo de Pinto (typical costa rican food). But more over the good food, clean place and convenient location, this place has a soul, this place is someone's dream and every little detail in the property will remind you of it. I would definitely stay at Chaletico if I needed to, you should too.

Chaletico is a relatively new B&B (they started out a year ago). All the rooms are in the same (beautiful) house in San Ramon de Très Rios where the guests share a fully functional kitchen, laundry, living room, etc. The room was the most spacious we had at our price range for this trip (from $30 to $70usd / night incl breakfast). The location was fine, we had our car (the house have a private secure parking) and you have to drive through a lot of traffic to get there. We didn't use it, but the local bus transportation system seemed easy to use from there. Services such as a supermarket and restaurants are relatively close by. For breakfast, included in the price, we could either have Gallo Pinto or the more standard American Breakfast, we took the delicious Gallo Pinto the 3 mornings we were there. What really made Chaletico stood out for me were the people we met there. We had really great discussions with the hosts Pedro and his wife and the guests at this moment, Kazuhiko and Tom. Although the guests we met were situational, the way house is made really encourage an environment of conviviality that the friendly hosts will promote too. The place felt like an alternate home for all of us.…

I hesitate to rate this property because I want it all to myself! For the price, this is the best place I have ever stayed in the San Jose area. The owners, Pedro and Tatiana, offer the most clean and comfortable accommodations at a fantastic rate. And the gem, is the house caretaker, Carlos Carazo. Pedro and Tatiana do not live onsite, but are wonderful people who try to meet with their guests when possible to develop friendships that transcend language and distance. I know more about these two people than most BNB guests ever know about their hosts. The caretaker, Carlos, keeps the chalet clean, cooks a mean breakfast, is the house's go-to-guy for everything in the house and in the local area, is extremely knowledgeable about many things and places Costa Rican, has his own take on homeopathic remedies, offers therapeutic massage and can be a challenging running partner. The chalet is in a suburb of San Jose, a 60 cents (US), 30 minute bus ride from downtown San Jose. I like to believe that I have life-long friends in Pedro, Tatiana and Carlos. I hope they remember my kind words when I book next year.…

My girlfriend and I were amazed by the warm welcome we received at Chaletico. Immediately upon entering we noticed how clean and comfortable it is. The architecture is gorgeous, done in wood with large windows for sunlight, the walls are dressed in beautiful artwork, comfortably large furniture, all working together to create a very peaceful and cozy atmosphere. In the mornings we were provided with fresh juice and coffee or tea served with a two-course breakfast cooked by our warm and friendly caretaker and former restaurant chef Carlos Carazo. DELICIOUS. Accommodations include: large COMFORTABLE beds, large shiny bathrooms with large blue-tiled showers with hot water, fresh towels and sheets upon request, WiFi worked perfectly every day with a fast connection, TV, full kitchen to use if inclined, book shelves with brochures and magazines for tourist activities nearby and in Costa Rica, and a bulletin board with menus and numbers for restaurants that do delivery. Initially we had booked for 2 days but we decided to stay for 6 more. From the B&B it is a short way to downtown San Jose with buses going to and from all day. If you are looking for a nice relaxing place to stay outside of the hustle and bustle of the city I would strongly recommend Chaletico. -Hank and Haleigh…
