Uta was an absolute gem just like her cabins. My parents, husband, and I stayed in the Koyukuk cabin and it was plenty of space. When she warms you that the cabin is very well insulated and to not leave the heat on too long, she is totally right! You will not be cold here even though you are in the Arctic circle! This is a great place to serve as a hub to go explore the Arctic circle, Coldfoot Camp, Wiseman, and the other surrounding areas.
We visited from Fairbanks for a 4-day getaway and only wished it could have been longer. The Wolverine cabin is adorable, warm, and has everything you need. Berni regaled us with hilarious and epic stories of their life off grid in the gorgeous wilds of the Brooks Range. There is so much to do and see in this area. We just might have to move there someday.... thanks Berni and Uta!
I stayed here for four nights in March 2020. I cannot say enough good things about my stay. First, the hosts Uta & Berni are just wonderful. Not only are they mindful of your needs and comfort, they are just really nice folks. I stayed solo in the Wolverine Cabin. It was just right. It had two comfortable beds, a kitchenette and a bathroom that is shared with another cabin (if it's occupied). A delicious breakfast is complimentary. The grounds are perfect for a stay off the grid. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular with ample opportunity to hike or snowshoe. I even went dog sledding with a local guide who lives less than 1/4 mile away. You can't go wrong here.
We spent 3 nights staying in their lovely warm cabins while we explored Arctic Alaska. The cabins were very well fitted out with comfortable beds & small but well kitted kitchens. This was the perfect spot to explore from. The breakfast was superb & so filling! I definitely recommend this spot for folks who wish to explore rugged Alaska.
Planing this drive through Alaska and Canada was daunting to say the least. BUT ! It could not have been easier. Coming across the Arctic Getaway was the most pleasing part of our drive up to Prudhoe Bay, Our only regret was we did not stay 4 nights , we only stayed one, The best way is 2 nights if you are venturing to P>Bay. And 2 nights on the way back. The most delightful people are Berni and Uta this is what i call hospitality. It’s what the Dutch call Behaaglijk never had pancakes before Uta makes the best Yummy!! Unfortunately we did not see the northern lights but everything at this property made up for that. Thanks you Berni and Uta You are the best. Steven and Therese Hall 12th September2019 oh yes great weather too.
