Good but overpriced especially due to the fact that there was no breakfast included for us and there was never an option for breakfast and we later found out that people that payed the same or less than us and that we recommend the hotel for, got free breakfast from a place near by. When we spoke to the owner, there was no room for negotiation. Before our stay, we messaged the owner asking for some info about the hotel and he was not whiling to answer, which made a bad first impression. Some rooms have separate entrances in the middle of the street and you can hear people passing by and have to unlock 3 doors to get to the pool, which is a bit annoying and you can hear everyone in the hotel and everything from other rooms. Other than that, there were comfortable beds, ac and fridge, specious bathroom and a separate balcony. Location is ok, everything in Caraiva is close by and you have a drug store, convenience stores near by. There are better options with the same or best prices available.

Rooms are dirty and there's no cleaning. Got some property stolen by a staff member, who admitted it. When I complained with the owner he replied that "it was normal to get cosmetics taken away by staff". Stay away!

This pousada is situated pretty much in the middle of Caraiva, not in a busy area but close to everything. They have a very nice airy upstairs lounge with sofas and hammocks, the perfect place to spend the hottest hours of the day. Guest can use the refrigerator and kitchen. I guess the upstairs rooms are nice as well, we were just a bit out of luck to stay downstairs on the shadow side of the house, and even though the room had a nice little yard it was always damp and full of mosquitos, so we really couldn't stay there unless under the mosquito net in the bed. You couldn't close to room at night to keep the insects out. Besides that the bed was comfortable, sheets and towels clean, and bathroom reasonable. The fence outside the room/yard seemed a bit feeble to really keep any strangers out, but Caraiva is a very peaceful place overall and I don't think any trouble could arise. No breakfast is served, but you can get meal tickets included in the room price for the restaurant/lanchonette/mercado across the street, and the brealfast there is fresh and tasty. There is really only the owner of the pousada (he is very nice and helpful and speaks good English) and one girl working, so the service is good if someone is available, but most of the time that's not the case. No reception so to speak of. We had some trouble with the water and electrics in the room, and it took almost a day to see someone about it. There's a fan but no AC in the room. Overall I could recommend, the price seemed a bit high for the quality, but it was for the New Years so everywhere was expensive.
