Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rooms in this hostal are very basic. A bed and a chair is all you can wish for. A closet, or even some hooks on the wall might be handy. The shared amenities are good and clean though. Showers are hot, which is quite handy in the cold weather at the altitudes of Putre. Also there is a communial area with a basic kitchen (with enough pots, pans and tableware). Wifi is terribly slow, and staff uses it to stream Youtube/Netflix during the day, which even makes it worse.

It's a cheerfully decorated hostel with cool vibe. The common room/kitchen has games, colored lights and a stereo that seems to always be playing the Strokes or something similar. The owner is laid back - maybe too laid back for some but ideal for others. For 10,000 pesos a night, I don't think you can be too demanding. The rooms are simple with plenty of plugs. I discovered the hard way that there seems to be hot water at night but not always in the morning during winter. The rooms do get cold overnight but there were two layers of thick, heavy blankets. No towels so make sure to bring your own (maybe two if you plan to visit the hot springs since towels get a little dirty there.) Overall an ok stay.

We loved our stay at the patchamama hostel. We even stayed one night more because we liked it so much. Very clean. Comfortable, cozy rooms. Good kitchen. Nice places to sit and eat or drink and meet other travellers. The owner is very friendly and helpfull. Great vibe. Nice courtyard. Tabke tennis and pool table are a nice plus.

I have spent a wonderful time in histal pachamama - with a great host, Rodrigo, and friendly crowd in the hostal. They gave me very accurate details on what to do around Putre, and it was so well that I stayed 5 days instead of a single night. (We also had a tour of the city....)ˋit’s central as putre is rather small It’s a great base camp to acclimate to the altitude. You start offf by a hike from the hostal and then can envision going further to the hot springs (8 km) or to chungara Highly recommended !

We stayed here three nights to visit the region (Suriplaza, salar de surire and the lakes/hotpools). It was a good hostel. No keys for the rooms and no heating, but it was December so it was good for us.

Definitely a nice place. has all the needed facilities, including the kitchen and wifi. Not a luxury, but better than expected, given the remoteness. Even though it qualifies as a hostel, you can get a double room (although ours had no lock :P). NOTE: it might be hard to find, especially in the night. Look for the arrow on the 'main' street and then right ~150m from the square. The street is a bit dark, so it doesn't stand out much.

I was there with a friend of mine and it was the nicest hostel on our trip. This place is so chilled and chosy. Ones you are there you want to stay one night longer. We enjoyed having such friendly hosts around us, in such a good mood and very nicely. I can totally recommend this place.

The Pacha Mama hostel is definetly our favourite hostel in Chile, we stayed longer than we initially planed! We encountered a very familiar atmosphere, thanks to Ricardo who is doing everything he can to make you happy : offering you a cup of tea at your arrival, caring for your health due to the altitud, helping you with the activities in the surroundings, and so much more. The hostel itsel offers very good facilities, a great kitchen, warm shower all day long (not so easy to find in Chile!), a very nice patio to relax and comfortable beds. But there is no heating system and the night can be cold.

We stayed in this hostal for 2 nights in August and the room (2 bedrooms with 5 beds, a little kitchen and a little private bathroom with tub) was too cold during the night. The common spaces in the hostal were good and beautiful. I loved the little central yard with sofàs and mini-tables, an amaca and a Ping-pong table in the middle. The hall isn't bad and, if you are interested, you can rent mountain-bikes directly in the structure. Riccardo, the supervisor of the hostal, was very kind with us and tried to solve our problems (we hadn't the bath towels and he gave them to us) and answered our doubts. He also gave to us good information about the Lauca National Park and the surroundings. So, the real problem of the structure is the very very cold rooms during the winter months (maybe, in summertime it's better) and the cold water from the shower.
