The automated booking in was quick but I then had to wait 10 mins for a key becuae the only staff member was on the phone. The carpet in my room was thread bare with 3 bald patches. The shower thermostat was broken and all the silicone sealent needs replacing. Waiting in the queue for fried eggs in the morning was a little odd as everything else was pre-cooked. I did not use the restauarnt as choice was very limited. Very nice place out the car park at the top, 17th Century pub was far better and packed with customers.
My husband and I stayed here overnight on 7th September. I booked an Executive room which turned out to be a standard room with a bigger bed and two bottles of water. Tiny bathroom. Dinner was very below standard, starter not as described neither was the dessert. Main course okay, to be fair the starters and dessert were deducted from our bill when we complained. The whole dinner was spoiled by the noise of a 70th birthday party in one half of the dining room. Children running about and screaming (9pm at night) there was a wedding on but that was never a problem. Breakfast was very average a wait for eggs to be cooked and then the rest of breakfast was in hot tureens. All in all not a 4 star standard in any respect.
Arrived at the hotel for 1 night stay, was charged £3 for the car to be parked in the car park over night even though I was a guest.
Reception staff were blunt.
The room itself was bog standard.
Worth paying a few pound more for a better hotel in the area.
As a business man this is a really good hotel. There is a pool, gym, sauna and steam room. The refurbished rooms are a delight but the thing that really makes it is the friendliness of the staff and the Management should be really proud of the service they deliver. From check in with Shereen and Latifa to the bar with Tom and then the delightful restaurant staff with Diane, Mary, Joanne and Gillian plus the evening staff of Hera, Dan, and Doniquea. Very relaxing and friendly. What more could you ask for. I will definitely stay again
We stayed here for one night after being moved from a different hotel due to them overbooking - but the stay at this hotel couldn't be faulted! The staff at check in were very friendly and helpful even though there was a few issues with payment due to the transfer, and our room was spacious and had everything you need. We didn't eat there so can't comment on the food but the bar downstairs was great - VR, free pool and board games too, a must visit if you are staying. The spa and pool area was fantastic too, not huge but it was complimentary as a guest of the hotel so it was a great addition to our stay.
