I’m on a solo trip to Abisko for a three-night stay in early September and have stayed in a bunk bed of 6-person room. Reception staffs with helpful advices, Good foods and drinks in the restaurant, Clean rooms and kitchen utensils, Natural walking trails just around the corner. Highly recommended.
There are few hotels around here and this one is the classic place to stay having been established by the Swedish Tourist Association in the early 1900's. It is an excellent base for hikes in the surrounding area and is suitable for everyone regardless of experience. You can choose routes of varying difficulty.
The hotel offers lodging of different standards from proper hotel to hostel type for larger groups. We had a room with private bathroom which was good.
There are no frills such as television or minibar here but a well known restaurant with good service and food.
Considering how remote this place is I think it exceeded expectations. The room was comfortable if not overly spacious. The food was varied and good. It's only a two minute walk down to the lake where you can watch out for the northern lights. There are lots of activities that leave from the lodge too. There's a decent bar downstairs and a good sauna too. It takes a couple of hours to get there from Kiruna airport but it's worth the journey.
We stayed in a double bed with private bathroom. Very clean, well maintained and decent. This room usually comes with cleaning included. View of the frozen mountains, snow covered land was awesome. Walkable distance to Aurora sky station. There are many walking trails starting frome the hotel property. One of them also had deep rock climbing area. Otherwise it is very enjoyable to just walk around and enjoy the snow. This is probably the best lodging option, though quite costly. Decent breakfast and lunch options. Takeaway cheese sandwich and other items available for cheaper price from the reception store.
We are Australian couple who travelled extensively around Europe and we just came back from our trip to Scandinavia and France, we stayed here for 3 days , and we loved the serenity and the view of this place, the room is very spacious and clean, and we had lovely breakfast, we enjoyed walking at the National Park and also we went up the Aurora Sky Station and we saw the Northern lights. I recommend this place
