We had a wonderful stay in Grupotel Playa de Palma Suites & Spa Prestige
The location was excellent .. it is only few minutes walk from the beach but still quiet!! The rooms were clean and large, the facilities in the hotel were really great! And there are not enough words to describe the team ! Everyone was so friendly and they make you feel home ! Special thanks to Jose :) he was very helpful, proffesional and always there to answer any question we have.
The food !!! The food was wow ! They have simply both "quantity and quality " and Manuel was always there to prepare us a super delicious special italian dish seasoned with love and smile ! The only tiny thing that I did not like is "drinks in dinner is not included.. even water" Definitly i will choose this hotel again for the next stay :)
I was due to go to Dubrovnik in September with my husband having booked our holiday in January, but we became victims of the BA pilots strike just days before our departure date. Unable to find any suitable alternative flights at such short notice all we could get were flights to Mallorca. Having been once before many years ago we were not unduly disappointed.
I managed to book the Grupotel Playa de Palma Suites & Spa four star accommodation and was delighted when we arrived to find such a glorious building and superb suite, despite having a sterile area with rubble immediately opposite the entrance. Breakfast complete with Prosecco (if you were lucky enough to get any after those who fill their boots leaving empty bottles just because they can)! The evening food served buffet style is exceptional although we did not eat there every evening. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful, whilst others are aloof and distant. For those who enjoy spa’s the hotel has one which is state of the art. The tranquil pool area is well looked after and comfortable. So far so good?
The downside for us is that we thought we were in Germany being two of just a few British staying here. Clearly this hotel caters for them and found us a bit of a novelty I think. The older Germans were on the whole charming compared to the young men and women who seem to move around in mobs and are truly ignorant. In fact the whole of Playa de Palma is like that. I am surprised that a hotel of this caliber permits some of the loud disruptive behaviour including drunken and abusive women, which we found to be a nuisance.
Nothing more to say other than I will not be back and definitely would not recommend this Grupotel to anyone especially if looking for a bit of class and old fashioned values.
Nice and clean room, good service all over, and this is at a place without noise.
Excellent food in the restaurant with a very big buffet, at breakfast as well in the evening you can get every thing.
Spa and sauna is wonderfull, with all kind of bath, salt, eis, hot water, fitnes room as well.
We, a family of four, arrived in August for a 10 day stay. We got to the hotel around 10am but unfortunately our 2 rooms weren’t yet ready which was understandable as people didn’t have to check out till midday. We were offered breakfast so took ourselves off there. We then had a walk round the hotel. My husband went back to reception to see if the rooms were ready and came back not too happy. They had overbooked so for the first night the four of us had to share a room. We were upgraded from a junior suite to a suite and were told they wouldn’t charge us for the one room for the first night.
We got changed and headed for the pool. Plenty of sun beds but no cushions so we asked a male lifeguard if there were any spare cushions, he just shrugged and walked off. We then went to get the towels from the spa area but they didn’t have any. When we asked if they would have more we got a shrug and was told they didn’t know.
The next day after breakfast we went to reception to see if they knew when our rooms would be available, we felt as though we were being a pain as the guy we spoke to wasn’t very helpful, we was told to come back later.
Rooms were finally sorted in the early evening, we were upgraded to two suites rather than the junior suites which we had booked.
Other than that the hotel was ok, it was mainly German holiday makers but it didnt bother us although we noticed you could only buy German papers and magazines in the hotel.
Breakfast was fine but staff were slow in clearing plates from the table, some didn’t speak or smile much.....
Overall it was ok but I wouldn’t rush back. Outside the hotel was just a mess and the location itself was not the best. We found 3 restaurants which were ok, one was down by the marina about 25-30 min walk, but the sites we saw walking there was unbelievable. German holiday makers who were peed up, shouting and making it a not very pleasant walk.
We hired a car for 3 days to get out of the area, some lovely places in Mallorca to visit but Playa de Palma is not one!
Husband and I stayed there just to get away and relax. The hotel and relaxation went way beyond our expectations. The spa area is most definitely one of a kind. Best spa we’ve ever been to. The staff was super friendly and accommodating in every way. And the breakfast buffet that was included in our room was delicious. I do and have recommended this hotel to many people and will continue to. Loved our stay.
