Decent place to stay. Great breakfast. Too chilly at this time of year to use the outdoor pool. Smooth check-in, friendly staff. Comfortable king bed, clean room. Carpets and chairs were dated, and the fridge was tiny. Quite quiet, there's a wooded area that separates it from the highway; not much sound from rooms next door. Two floors, not sure if there is an elevator; we didn't need one. About a 20 minute walk to the Seattle ferry. Walking distance to main town area for galleries, shops & wine tasting places. There is shopping is nearby. Affordable alternative to staying in Seattle. I would stay here again.
After our last Hotel stay in Tumwater i was hoping for a good experience this time. This stay did not disappoint at all.
I called and booked a Room with a King size bed for me and my daughter for a soccer tournament weekend. Called in and booked about 4 weeks before the weekend. I always try and book Friday and Saturday for the tournaments since we never know what our game times are going to be. Got my confirmation email within minutes. I also call the week of just to verify nothing has changed. I did not need to this time. They called me a week before my stay to confirm and asked if there was anything else we would need for our stay. Very good Customer service. Being only one of two hotels on the island i was not expecting much. The location was great right down the street from a little shopping area. They had a Safeway, Starbucks, Subway and a couple other restaurants and shops.
I called the night before to see if I asked for an early check in as we wanted to head out there but 11 or 12 on Friday and wanted to get in and relax since. We had a 8:15 game the next morning and did not want to be rushing for the long drive to get there. They did not have it noted but said it would not be a problem. We got there at 3:00 anyways with some delays getting out of town. The room was ready and we went up and dropped everything off. The King size room was very large and nice. It had a breakfast or snack area with Microwave, Fridge and Sink included, large closet plenty of room to sit at the table with 2 chairs and eat and relax. Our room was at the end of the building so we had a window across the front plus a big window on the side of the room. We could have easily fit 2 more roll away beds or cots in this room if we needed to. Our room’s one window faced the highway 305 but we did not hear it much to any annoyance level.
When we got there they had issues with Hot Tub so it was closed but the pool was open Friday. When we got up Saturday and went down to breakfast we realized they drained the Hot tub and closed the Pool area. It did not open again while we were there.
Continental breakfast was provided and was about average for hotels. Normally I like Biscuits and gravy from those but this one did not have it. But still have hot Sausage and eggs, bagels, English muffins, Muffins, cereal and other amenities. A lot better than the last hotel that said they had breakfast then told us it is just a grab and go breakfast of a stale muffin and granola bar and coffee.
It was close enough for our late lunch Saturday we walked over to the Shopping area and went to Plate and Pint for Lunch. It was a nice 2 minute walk on a quiet street so pretty close and nothing to worry about.
When we went to checkout they had our bill printed and ready to go just hand over the key and we were off to the next Soccer game.
Booking from the road was a nightmare as the Quality Booking site was down and the telephone reservations were awkward. No confirmation email as promised, no receipt when we checked in. Price charged was not per quote, but night manager didn't care... I asked for an updated room as we learned via Trip Advisor that the hotel was undergoing reservations. Assume our request was not honored as staff would not answer me when I asked if we had been given upgraded room. Walls were dinged, furniture was terrible. Bed was broken (I slept at an angle all night). Carpet was old and had spills on it. Bathroom signs of mold and rust, old linoleum floor. Bathroom fan was broken; it rattled when light was on so we woke each other when using the bathroom in the middle of the night. Toilet whined when flushed and then ran for at least a minute. Housekeeping was mediocre. Outdoor pool looked dirty, promised hot tub not working. Breakfast mediocre at best. 15-day road trip and this was the most expensive and worst room we had on the entire trip. Room looked out on fence 2 feet away. Quality Inns need to monitor their hotels better if they want to get our business any longer. Systems still down, so we left with a promise of an adjustment from the day manager, and no receipt. After 2 days, I got an Email receipt. They did take $50 off our room, but it still felt like a horrible deal.
Great location and very nice staff. It is actually a motel, not an "inn" but it was comfortable. Pool is outdoor and not heated ;) Bainbridge has gotten a lot more developed since I first visited it in the 90s. The inn is right near lots of shops if that is what you are looking for. Enjoyed our time!
The most impressive part of this motel was the friendly staff person at the desk--so typical of the island people. It has a good location across from a small shopping center which included a pub/restaurant, drug store, Safeway Market, and a pizza place. Free wifi and a pool. No frig or microwave. The small breakfast area had a waffle maker plus the usual non-hot food items. We could hear some walking on the floor above, but if you think this might bother you, best to request a top floor.
