We stayed at the original for one nite for a friends birthday and really wished we had booked the whole weekend. It was a beautiful escape in a spacious house. It was clean and welcoming. The vouchers for
Dinner and breakfast were a good idea to promote the restaurant . We had a very restful sleep on those beds . Highly recommend it for groups or families. Had four bedrooms and a single bed. The view from deck was refreshing . Easy walk to shops and restaurants :)

Myself and 3 friends went on a girls weekend away to the Dandenong Ranges. We were looking for a place that had a touch of luxury as well as 4 bedrooms (1 each) and an open fire was a must. Lochiel Luxury Accommodation fulfilled all of these things. We were thrilled the moment we walked through the front door. One of the managers, Jonathan, was there to meet and greet us. He was very helpful and friendly. We cooked a yummy meal that night and found the kitchen fairly well equipped for cooking. The cottage was toasty warm thanks to the open fire and central heating, which was much appreciated as it was only 4 degrees! We enjoyed our complimentary breakfasts at Ranges Cafe the next morning, although needed to top up the bill a little to include coffees and juices but that was no problem. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend this accommodation.

I'm just going to qualify this review by saying I paid $395 for the night and so was expecting something special. Also they mentioned 'luxury' quite a lot, so I had high expectations. Unfortunately it is neither.
It's not very clean, no brand name products, they don't include cleaning of the kitchen in the room rate ( pretty outrageous ), the linen on the bed is very 3 star, as is the cushions on the couch.
The bathroom has dirt marks in the shower corners and the blinds are filthy, cobwebs on the outside window. The tv is 'hotel size' with 2 DVDs provided ( gee thanks!), the fridge is also bare.
They did include a voucher for breakfast worth $30 and a packet of Lollies but honestly I would have preferred more cleaning and better products and linen. Plus, $395 is frankly outrageous for the small size and fit out of the 3 level 1 bedroom cottage.
I wouldn't recommend this place unless they do some serious rethink of fixtures and price point.

Thank you for your feedback.

We were disappointed to read your comments in light of the many positive comments we have been left on Trip Advisor.

We are a small boutique accommodation and do not advertise as being a 5 star hotel.

Our cottages are stand-alone and are fully equipped and we do pride ourselves on the cleanliness and facilities we offer; we are contemporary and modern however given our rainforest setting, dust can and does settle quickly on a daily basis.

We do not leave provisions in our fridges, aside from milk, as each guest will have different needs and we do our best to cater for this by offering an extensive range of teas and coffee for your enjoyment. We prefer to provide breakfast vouchers for the local Café so you can enjoy the lovely ambience and hustle and bustle of the Olinda Township while you enjoy your individual breakfast choices.

Thank you for the feedback regarding our linen, however we do use a 5 star laundry company and I will be pleased to feed your comments back to them!

Our pricing is in line with other accommodation providers in the area, single Saturday pricing is generally a little higher as the cost of labour penalty rates sadly must be met.

Unfortunately we did not meet your expectations this time and thank you once again for your valuable feedback.

Our stay at Lochiel was comfortable, though somewhat lacklustre. Perhaps when Lochiel first opened years ago, it was considered to be luxury; however, now it is arguably ‘standard’.

We stayed in the one-floor cottage. It was peaceful, and we slept well. The wood fire heater was fantastic, adding to the cosy ambience, and had been set before our arrival. Alan was very accommodating and communicative about our arrival.

Disappointingly however was the general appointment of the cottage. The blinds were very dirty, there were cracked tiles around the fireplace, the couch was in a state of disrepair, the oven greasy and dirty, and the windows looked as though they had not been cleaned for months. There’s also no door or screen between the bedroom and the bathroom, and one can see the toilet from the bed.

Being luxury (and paying luxury prices), It would have been nice to have fresh milk instead of UHT, and a coffee machine with pods rather than instant. I do understand that Lochiel is a business, though given the standard of other luxury accommodation around in the area, it falls short.

With closer attention to detail, replacement and inclusion of items, it could easily become the luxurious getaway it advertises itself to be.

I booked the Treetops 3 for my partner's birthday gift and we loved our stay. I was a little worried driving down the drive way because the cottages looked a little run down, but when we opened the door to our cottage we were put completely at ease. This cottage was spacious, clean and modern and each of the 3 floors were delightful. The bathroom supplied really cool looking shampoo/conditioner/body lotion bottles and plenty of clean, fresh and fluffy towels. The spa was huge and worked wonderfully.

The bedroom is surrounded by windows overlooking the forest which is beautiful and had a well-sized balcony. The downstairs/living room area had a lovely fireplace and they supplied plenty of firewood which kept it running for hours.

Only a few negatives about this place which stopped it from being a 5 rating. The shower head is too low - I'm 5"10 and had to duck. The shower shelf was broken off so there was no where to put our things. I also felt that asking for a $50 fee on top of the $350 fee for not doing your own dishes is a bit steep, and I don't like the idea of previous guests having reluctantly washed the dishes I'm about to use (with no dishwasher also).

Overall, we had an awesome stay and I would highly recommend, especially as a romantic getaway.
