We were really looking forward to our weekend at Beaverbrook. Had my eye on it for a while. It exceeded our expectations. Service impeccable. Rooms lovely. Both the restaurants were fab. Enjoyed relaxing in the bar and on the terrace, with its stunning views. We were lucky we had gorgeous weather, the outdoor pool was a great spot to take life easy and we enjoyed all the spa facilities. if you are looking to treat yourself, this is one of my favourites of these types of hotels, as one of the more relaxed ones.
We loved this hotel last time we visited and wanted to return and visit the new spa. The hotel has many positives - beautiful building with lovely views, helpful service from the smart and charming young (and older) men who work here, lovely gardens and good breakfast. We experienced a few issues this time which took the edge off our experience. The spa is a nice new addition although the adult only spa facilities are a bit small and it is helpful to check out the timings for the children in the main pool area if you want a quiet swim. We booked two massages in advance and it would be helpful if the spa could confirm if these will be done by a male or female therapist. Some clients will have a preference or may assume that there will be a female therapist and it is an awkward conversation to have on the day. I would also like to be asked if it is okay for me to be allocated an assisted room with emergencies cords and assistance bars in the bathroom - that is my usual experience in other hotels. If you are going to offer some nice treats then it is important to let the guest know - I only found out that there is complimentary tea and cake in the afternoon by overhearing other guests and then it was all a bit embarrassing to ask. I only realised that the items in the fridge are complimentary by reading the room service menu. For a lot of people coming to this hotel it is a special and expensive treat so these little extras make a difference. Finally I had been offered a complimentary breakfast by email but was then charged breakfast (£67). When I queried this everyone was very unhelpful and it was only thanks to being able to find the email on my phone that the item was removed. Nobody apologised and I felt very embarrassed by having to make this point for what again was meant to be a nice thing offered by the hotel. This is a beautiful (and expensive) hotel that needs to make sure that its guests come first at all times and are not put in embarrassing situations. We had a very nice meal in the Potting Shed which was good value and set in very pretty gardens.
A midweek stay with my husband - a bit of spoiling time. We didn't want to venture too far from home and we were not disappointed. The service was impeccable, the setting lovely (hard to imagine that you are a stone throw from the M25!) and the food was delicious. The smallest of touches, sloe gin in your room, slippers by your bed at bedtime and even a book mark left in my husband's book, when he was 'making do' with a a random piece of paper. A lovely spa and pool. The weather wasn't great at the time of our visit (yes it was July) so didn't get out into the grounds as much as we would have like to, but we will keep that for next time. Yes it is expensive, but for a special treat well worth it. I think for us - we didn't want to travel too far from home as we were under time constraints, but really wanted to feel that we had had some time away and Beaverbrook ticked all the boxes. Thank you for a lovely stay.
I recently stayed one night in the garden house Comfortable , clean but very cramped despite it not being their totally basic room. Very overpriced for what you get. Dinner in the garden restaurant was delicious but at £160 for two would not have expected the waitresses to have been wearing jeans.
The spa was amazing, fabulous pools and facilities.
What totally let it down was the breakfast. Don't bother. This is not included in the price of the room it is an extra and such a waste of money and disappointment. Totally over priced. If you ask for egg, sausage and mushrooms you get served 1 sausage and 1 mushroom, no not one portobello mushroom but one small mushroom!!! Don't ask for healthy granary toast, they only serve simple white or brown toast, no other types of breads are an option. For a 5 star establishment the breakfast was a total disgrace . I have written to them twice but they have not bothered to offer me the curtesy of a response on either occasion.
My partner took me for a surprise two night stay and was absolutely amazing!
The setting of the hotel in the Surrey countryside is perfect, very peaceful and lovely for a walk in the gardens. The hotel itself is beautiful inside and felt special. Same goes for the rooms with very comfortable beds and nicely decorated.
We had dinner at the Japanese Grill on one of the evenings and the food and service was great. Have eaten at central London top sushi restaurants and this was comparable if not nicer. The sashimi was just something else!
We made good use of the indoor pool and spa facilities during the break and again, was lovely. Staff were great and couldn't have been more accommodating. Treatments are quite pricey but were worth the money.
Would definitely visit again and highly recommend!
