This is a perfect alternative for everyone who does not need to stay at a "regular" hotel. Pros: very close to the airport (15-20 minutes by car, depending on traffic), pick-up / bring service upon availability at a reasonable price tag, really big, fully furnished (with attention to detail :) rooms with big, comfy beds, heating (yes, it was cold during the nights), one room with balcony and view over the bay, big lounge to hang around, fully eqipped kitchen to use, overall 3 (?) bathrooms. Of course you can lock your room, you get 2 keys upon arrival: main entrance + room. So you can come and go upon your own convenience. Very quiet location, i had a very good sleep. Wake up calls by cockatoos :). Fast and FREE WIFI available, very good cell-phone reception. Many shops and restaurants in walking distance (incl. Mc Donalds, 7 Eleven etc.....). Who might be interested in scuba diving: Dive Shop 5 minutes walking (that was my primary reason for first stay) away. Bus-station to Metro 3 Minutes walking away. Time to down town (circular quay) by public transport: about 1hr. Easy to do.
The bathrooms are "shared" but that was not a problem at all.
Super nice, friendly and helpful managers (thank you again, Rika :))
You get a VERY good value for your money, i enjoyed the stay very much. I stayed here the first 2 nights of my NSW trip, and then i liked it so much so that i decided to stay here the two nights at the end of my trip as well.
Highly recommended, whenever i visit Sydney in the future, i will hopefully find a room available there...:)

Such a wonderful, friendly homely place to stay. The hostess Rika could not be more friendly and as overseas visitors just arriving off a cruise boat she went out of her way to help us with local directions etc. We had a large double bedroom with a balcony overlooking a park and river. Loverly views.
The large A frame house is very old but spotlessly clean and full of old phot
ographs and antiques . Homely lounge and we'll stocked kitchen. Shared bathroom and toilet facilities which worked fine. All rooms except kitchen are upstairs which are fairly rickety.
I would certainly stay here again.

The dwelling is a bit rough and ready but scrupulously clean and the hosts are extremely welcoming and helpful. Interesting mixture of overseas and local guests and the common breakfast rooms mean you get to meet interesting people from all over. Views across Kogarah Bay from the balcony of our room. The hosts were Japanese which perhaps explains the great hospitality.

Take it as written - this is definitely our no.1 place to stay in Sydney. But - but - it is old, very old and needs attention - but it is spotless, and every detail has been attended to. It is a whole house, obviously with various bedrooms. The rooms are huge and so so comfortable. This guest house is right on the water at San Soucci and it is only $100 per night (for 2) and we absolutely loved it so much. The hostess Rika lives out the back in her own accommodation. Our room was no. 201 and overlooked the water, even with a balcony. There are 3 toilets and everything is addressed - even the lamps were on when we came in late. The fridge is stocked really well for breakfast - fruit etc. - get it yourself of course. The dining area is huge and upstairs the sitting room with TV is big too. There were little vases of fresh flowers and tissues everywhere to use and the bathroom was stocked with lots of shampoo etc. The street is really quiet. There are ceiling fans and standard fans - no air con - no problem as the fans do the job. Couldn't recommend it highly enough but remember I said it was very old, but very clean.

Room Tip: Room 201 is the best. The stairs are steep so if that is an issue then downstairs is just great.
