My boyfriend and I stayed one night in the anniversary suite, which was $200 with a discount. It really isn’t worth that. Overall, Arrowhead Tree Top Lodge is in dire need of renovations. It’s cute but run down. There’s a picture of a very nice pool on their website, which was closed (no water) I don’t think that’s mentioned anywhere.
Our unit was clean, and had an old window air-conditioner which eventually cooled down the room. The wall heater seemed to be warm, but there wasn’t any way to turn it off. There was a large private patio, but it was not very clean and the furniture was from a trailer park. The kitchenette was nice but it’s funny there was a spa tub in there!
Upon checking in there was a sign to call on the door to call. This was at check-in time. We encountered the same issue upon check out. I inquired about ice but was told they didn’t have time to go to the store.
Let’s just say I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially since it’s overpriced.
We went on a sold out peak weekend. For $~100 more than the Motel 6 in Big Bear, we got a 2 bedroom with living room & kitchen.
The front desk made every effort to help. The brought firewood to our room and seemed happy to do it.
The motel have been around longer than my lifetime but I enjoyed it’s Maltby charm. It was also very clean.
Not sure what the one bed rooms are like but ours helped make a good memorable family vacation with my wife and kids.
Filthy conditions: the oven was dirty, dried food on some of the dishes, dirty silverware. Hair and other debris in the shower stall and on the bathroom floor, soap dish had dried soap scum left on it. Rodent droppings behind the beds in both bedrooms and dirty linens in all but one of the four beds. The one bed that seemed to have clean linens did not have pillow cases on the pillows but they looked new so we slept in that bed. Due to these conditions I packed up my bags and the groceries for the week and left after the one horrible night. The manager told me that since it was 'prepaid' that none of the money for the 5 nights we had scheduled was refundable. They were under renovation and new management - neither were disclosed to myself or the insurance company who made the reservations.
My husband and I stayed over Father's Day weekend because we were looking at homes. The room we stayed in had a musty smell, was very dark and needed a serious update. The bathroom had no counter space. We used the table in the room which was an outdoor table. They were having some kind of yard sale. Which was weird. If you want to rough it, this is a perfect place to stay. One last thing, when you check out, they ask you to fill out a comment card right in front of them.
My room was very cozy, the beds comfortable, and the pool charming and pretty. The wifi was very fast and reliable (25 Mbps+). Very friendly service. They do have coffee maker in room so bring own filter/coffee as I didn't see any there! Otherwise, nice place.
