I stayed two nights at this hotel. The hotel itself is brilliant - it's in a very convenient location - about 30 mins drive from the south entrance of the Grand Canyon, which makes it much cheaper than alternatives in Tusayan/Grand Canyon village which tend to get booked up/incredible pricey.
I stayed in a double queen room - the room was very spacious and clean, with amenities eg. coffee maker, TV. WiFi was good. Pool was closed due to the weather the first day, and I didn't get a chance to try it out on the second night.
I found the restaurant questionable. The food arrived quickly, but it took a long time to get our bill at the end. Some members of staff were lovely, but I was made to feel uncomfortable by others, eg. after asking a member of staff for my bill (having waited 30 mins) I received a smirk and rude comment, and had to wait a further 10 mins for the bill. The food itself is good, but quite expensive (I imagine they make the most of the fact that they're the only restaurant around). We ate in the restaurant the first night and first morning, but then found alternatives in Tusayan for the rest of our meals.
We got a very warm welcome by the reception. They gave us also a free upgrade to a luxury room with two large king bedroom. The swimming pool is nice and the surroundings are quiet.
Just 30 minutes far from the south entrance of Grand Canyon.
Breakfast is not included. Since the place is very isolated they take advantage of this.
Lovely hotel, comfortable room with fridge, hairdryer, toiletries, coffee maker and pool towels. We were upgraded to the main part of the motel with ample parking on the ground floor. Lovely reasonably priced bar and restaurant, food is really good it’s a shame it’s like a cafeteria. Garage with gift shop and essentials on site. We took a Pink Jeep tour round the canyon, expensive but for us worth it. You can go by your own transport into the state park and use the shuttle bus but we wanted someone else to take the strain. The IMAX cinema experience is part of the deal and well worth doing.
I was hesitant about booking here at first, but was happily surprised by my experience here. I would absolutely recommend staying here as the rates are more reasonable, the location is within good proximity to the park and town, and there are even some fun tourist shops to look through.
The front desk was super helpful when checking in/out. She even helped ease my mind about safety and made accommodations to ease my mind a bit. I ate breakfast at the restaurant and it was also good.
The pool was not opened as I was here during off season but I did like the picnic area behind the hotel, it looked like a good option for families.
If you're going to the Grand Canyon and you don't want to spend a million dollars, I'd recommend this place.
It's not new. There are no elevators. The furnishings are pretty basic. And it's about 25 minutes from Grand Canyon National Park.
But the good thing is that it has big rooms, it's not expensive, it has a restaurant attached that serves decent enough food with beer. It has basically everything you want, including a big room, a bar, and a nice pool area, for 200 dollars less than one of the hotels right outside of the park.
You get a good nights rest. You get away from the crowd at the park at the end of the day, and you save a little money for other things.
I loved this place. I'd stay here again if I ever visit the south rim again.
