Book pool view room, not the basic rooms, as much better quality for an extra fiver a night.
Staff were exceptional, nothing too much trouble.
Lucas rooms the hotel section, and he was most helpful.
Jagdish runs the restaurant, and he and his staff were brilliant.
only 2 mins walk to the beach, and only 3 mins walk to the main road.
plenty of shops and places to eat in the immediate vicinity.
Rooms cleaned every day, bedding and towels changed every 2 days.
As we were in Goa for 6 weeks staying far south on Agonda beach we decided to visit our old haunts up around Calangute. We were a bit reluctant as we had heard how busy that area was now. However, by staying at a Maggies it made the visit North most enjoyable. A quick & easy check in then taken with our luggage to our room. We were given an upper room overlooking the pool in one of the coloured rooms. It was a fab room - first impressions were 'wow' - spotlessly clean, a huge comfy bed, very spacious, lovely balcony overlooking the pool & a shower room with a shower curtain so that you didn't soak the whole of the bathroom when showering- plus lots of very hot water! There was a small alcove with a fridge in, also we had A/C & a television. The sleep quality was good as not much noise from Holiday street. The room was made up/tidied every day. The pool was a welcome change from the beach & rough sea. The on-site restaurant called Top Nosh was very good with friendly service & tasty food. The location is excellent as a short walk to the beach & plenty of nice restaurants close by. Even though we no longer like the North area as just too 'British' & busy for us, our stay at Maggies was most enjoyable & if staying North ever again - Maggies would be the place I'd want to stay.
Great place to stay, stayed here for many years amd can not fault it. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean. The room boys are trustworthy and will not touch or take anything from your room, they are only to willing to evem run messages to the local shops. 👍 👍 👍. Back next year 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Arrived at 3.30am and there was someone here waiting to show me to my room. Staff seem friendly
Very very large but hard bed...took me ages to sleep.
Internet is terrible, can’t send a photo cuts out continuously. My first evening here and I can’t get a message to a friend.....looks like I’m going to have to find a bar with internet...ongoing the internet has not improved and the password has been changed 2 times in less than a week.
Breakfast is not included, personally I’d prefer Breakfast to air conditioning. Woke up to load music blaring from the restaurant early morning....the same tune 3 times in a row ! Eventually went to get a coffee, coffee was terrible, couldn’t taste any coffee at all. Beware there is loud music blaring from the bar and restaurant from Sunrise to late at night so if you are looking to chill I’d maybe try elsewhere, one night I was kept awake until 1.30am with blaring music from “Top Notch” the on site restaurant at Maggie’s
There is a locker in the cupboard which is a nice touch, however not ever a bar of soap supplied here, so off to the shops to find some toiletries 😎
Now been moved from room 101 to 404 I can’t even get an internet signal in this room although the room is less noisy than 101 and the bed is marginally softer !
I’ll be honest I’m paying Rs2500 per night and I don’t think it’s brilliant value...I see they are asking Rs6000 for some of the rooms....I’d be really unhappy if I’d paid that !
Simon was helpful, I paid Rs1500 to extend my stay as checkout is 10am
I stayed at Maggie’s along with my wife early February this year. We’d contacted them via email prior to arriving with reference to being picked up by Taxi, which they happily arranged. On arrival, seeing a taxi driver with our names printed on a sign was a really reassuring sight.
The hotel is only a 2 Star, however more than lived up to our expectations. Our room was basic, but fully functional, including working A/C and a ceiling fan. It was clean and felt safe. We were in room 203, our balcony overlooking the restaurant, which only caused a problem on Karaoke night
Breakfast was included in our price; this was served at the Top Notch restaurant which is part of the hotel. The only items included were eggs on toast and a cup of tea. Other items were available for a small extra charge. The food was good, but depending on which waiter took your order it was hit and miss as to them getting it right.
All of the staff were very helpful and obliging, especially the manager who couldn’t do enough for us, including phoning up and booking our trips for us.
Maggie’s is situated right on the street, but is only a couple of minutes’ walk from Calangute Beach and the shops. Taxis are available from outside.
The free Wi-Fi was very hit and miss and didn’t work in our room and only occasionally on our balcony.
All in all, a good little hotel for what we paid for it.
