First we stayed at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Szczecin, as we had used that chain in different cities, but the experience was not very nice. When we returned to this town, I stayed at the Matejki 8: what a difference! This hotel is situated in a refurbished old villa with a really grand appearance and a wonderful garden in the back. In the morning, one can have breakfast in this beautiful oasis with gigantic trees, while in the afternon there are deckchairs out there to relax. The rooms of the hotel are large and airy (as one would expect from such a grand building) and the windows are very tall. The breakfast buffet was excellent, beautifully arranged with an eye for presentation and with a large choice. Staff is very friendly. The only advice I would give, try to be in a room with garden view as to the front there is a major road and is, therefore, probably very noisy, while on the garden side there is absolute peace and tranquillity. I should also mention that there is a generous parking lot on the hotel ground which is free to use for guests and although one is right in the middle of town, it takes away the hassle of having to look and pay for a parking space!
Location is great. Walking distance to the Old Town. Less than 10 minutes walk to the nearest shopping mall, Galaxy. It is a monumental building. Half of it is for accommodation while the rest for offices. It is located on corner streets. Reception area is incorporated with the classy dining restaurant. Cozy and dainty. The receptionist is kind, helpful and decently coping with his English command.Room we had is on the top floor. It has no lift. Pretty climb up for a Senior citizen. I decided not to bring my luggage up and left it in the car. I got only my need for the overnight stay. Good size room. Nice toilet. We had a good sleep despite that it is along the road. Breakfast is wonderful. We were asked if we like eggs and how it will be done. My scrambled egg was presented so daintily. Fine dining? This is fine brunch. Breakfast room is pleasant in white and stylish. Wifi is free and strong. Parking is free and within the accommodation. Recommendable !
We stayed here three nights in December 2017. A very characterful hotel within a short, easy 10 - 15 minute walk into the main City centre, shops, river and Old town. Our superior twin room and hotel generally was very clean and the staff very friendly. The breakfast each day was excellent continental style and the price we paid overall was very reasonable.
We would have given the hotel 5 stars but the room lacked some cupboard space for clothes and belonging, despite the room being very spacious with plenty of space to add a simple chest of drawers. Also the window had only a net curtain and though not overlooked from outside, the room really needed a full curtain to block out early morning light. I am sure these two points could be easily rectified by the owners.
On one of the evenings there was a function taking place in the restaurant and though the music was not really an issue and we did not complain, the manager brought us complimentary Prosecco to the room! A nice touch and much appreciated.
Notwithstanding the two negative points about the room we would definitely recommend a stay here as we felt we were staying in a typical Polish building with much charm and character.
