Hi! Just wondering if you have an available room for two people, checking in on the 14th for two nights? If so, how much would it be? Cheers, Rebecca

We recently stayed three nights at The Alabama and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are basic but decorated in such style; the beds are very comfortable with lovely crisp linens and retro woollen blankets over soft doonas. The heater kept us cosy on the cooler nights. We had a fridge, which is handy when staying a few days. There are no TVs or tea/coffee facilities in the room, but we didn't miss them as you an buy drinks at reception and curl up in the fabulous guest lounge and read or chat. Seriously, the lounge is so lovely that you could just settle in and never leave. Feels like home, only much funkier.

The staff are super friendly and have the best suggestions of how and where to spend your time in Hobart. Water stations are on each floor, so you can grab a bottle to take to your room anytime. Excellent service.

DO read the compendium in your room! It tells you pretty much everything you need to know. DON'T FORGET YOUR CODE! Haha. Seriously though, there is a code to get in the front door after 9pm and early in the morning. Always have it with you. They try their darnedest to get this important message through to you, in a friendly manner. If you have any small issue, just talk to the staff. They all seem to love their jobs, and love people, and are so helpful.

The shared bathroom was fine. Clean, and plenty of room. Didn't come across another person! Did I mention the fab artwork throughout the place?

No lift/elevator, so you'll be carting that luggage up the stairs. Cheaper than gym fees. Just be aware.

No parking, but then you won't need a car. This is literally three doors from the Mall in the Hobart CBD. Walking distance to almost anywhere. Taxi rank right outside the door, if you need one.

Remember, it's a budget hotel, and think of the $$$ you have to spend on your Hobart experiences, and you will find NOTHING to complain about here. Only things to smile about. Contact them directly, and book I now. 😊

We chose the Alabama inn as we felt that we just need a quality sleep given we would be out exploring tasmania for most of the time.

For the price for a double bed, Alabama hotel had clearly exceeded my expectations with its design-centric and quirky rooms, lit by art pieces and well chosen furniture. We really like the vintage and psychedelic reception-lounge!

Granted the bathrooms were for common use, but we didn't mind at all as they were clean and well maintained with good space layout. Kelly was a great hotel owner whom provided clean towels and really good home made local soap that smells really nice.

Best of all, the location was unbeatable, right in the heart of the city, a 5-10 min walk to the ferry wharf and Salamanca, and close to a woolsworth supermarket and several arty shops & cafés run by local young entrepreneurs.( use their special map!)

If there was anything to pick on, it would be the noise level which was more obvious if you were on the 2nd floor (nearby pub and traffic). In our 2nd stay after a road trip, we asked for a room on the first floor instead and it was much more quiet.

If you are looking for a budget but unique quality stay, go for Alabama!

We were drawn to this place and not let down one little bit. Stylish, comfortable and most of all welcoming, the Alabama continued to deliver. Like staying with friends and taking over their Lingus room. Perfect place to stay to check out Hobart by foot. Definitely coming back.

We stayed at the Alabama for four glorious nights. We received a very friendly greeting from Aiden when we arrived at 8.30 am, and were able to immedieately check in which was brilliant.
The room was as neat as pin and very comfortable. There are shared bathrooms, but we never had to wait to use anything, and the bathrooms were spotless.
If you're looking for a full service hotel, then this isnt the place for you, but if you're looking for a fantastic opportunity ot stay in a quirky and inviting place, then jump to it.
All of the staff were extremely helpful, and nothing was a problem for them.
The common lounge area is brilliant and the chese board and pickled vegetables is a must to try.
Street parking is free after 6pm. If you're a bit early, and dont want to pay the meter, there's a Woolies car park a five minute walk away where its free for the first 1.5 hours.
We'll definitely be back

conference time again ! personally I wasn't looking forward to it. I arrived at the Alabama and I knew all would be fine , because I had chosen not to stay at the sterile conference venue , but a warm welcoming environment where I was number one , not one amongst many . Listening to lectures , networking at meal breaks leaves you" brainnumb" , the last thing you want after a long day is to go upstairs to a predictable room - they remind me of supermarkets -you know exactly which aisle to walk down and what shelf to find the goods you wish to buy as they all use the same planagrams. Hell no , I enjoy being spoilt ! I even like to be considered to be an individual . I enjoy sleeping on a mattress that is thick and luxurious , and then in the morning having a freshly made cuppacino 5 steps from my room. No TV - who cares ! With free wireless internet it isn't needed. The bathroom , may be shared , but as no guest whilst I stayed over 4 days needed to use the facilities at the same time as me , the item could be seen as an advantage - that being , it was larger and cleaner than the average hotel bathroom and no bathroom smells can resonate into your bedroom where you wish to relax.
Handmade soap, every room decorated differently but invitingly, warm smiles at reception - and certainly not forgetting great coffee made my experience here fantastic and leaving the other conference delegates envious that they too had not booked the wonderful experience that I had .
